Occident : de l’universalisme au communautarisme

A 2019 YouTube monologue in which a single speaker (of Algerian origin) criticizes religion as an instrument of oppression, questions the claim that contemporary Western social changes (e.g., legalisation/acceptance of homosexuality, reproductive choices) are 'universal' values, and warns that current Western cultural shifts risk societal decline and push immigrant communities to retreat into communal identities—threatening national cohesion and leading to 'balkanization'.
Good evening, my friends. You know, it's no secret that I lack religiosity, right? In other words, I believe that religion has been a tool of oppression, from the upper classes to the classes considered inferior, who have been crushed under the influence of religion, among other things. And religion has always served the upper classes or the ruling classes. Moreover, when you look around the world today, you will find that the most religious people are the people who still bear the most traces of this domination. Historical domination, sometimes even current domination, in their underdevelopment.
Okay?
So that's why I criticize religion. And even when this religion is called Islam, I still criticize it. Especially since I come from Algeria and I know the damage. I've seen it, okay? I didn't read about it in a book. I saw it. The damage that excessive religion can cause in a society.
So.
You know, as much as I criticize, and you should know that I experience these criticisms with bitterness. I wish I didn't have the reason to make these criticisms. It means I wish my society were different. I wish my society could free itself from a certain number of medieval texts and be able to experience the fate it deserves. But unfortunately, in the way the world is today, that's not the case. So I wanted to tell you something. I wanted to tell you something important. Sometimes I meet people from my country or other countries, people who follow me from the Arab world, the Muslim world. I can meet them in a supermarket, on a street, anywhere, here, elsewhere. Sometimes they can write to me, we can change it. And then sometimes they tell me, listen, the other day I met a salafist. I don't like your videos. I liked some of them, but you criticize us on this, on that. Oh, really? There is one thing I don't like about people who criticize Islamic society, and that is holding up the west as the absolute and definitive benchmark of universalism. That means everything the west does, how the west lives, is perfection incarnate. Everything else doesn't deserve to live. So I'll give you an example. But there are people who will write, no matter where, on Twitter, in texts, in videos, Arab countries or Muslim countries, without this. It follows a list of adjectives. In some cases, I can only agree, of course, but sometimes they will throw in there they are homophobic. Let me tell you something. I'll put it very simply. To this day, in our world, homosexuality, even if it has existed since Plato, homosexuality is not a universal value. Okay, it is not a universal value. Let me give you an example. Ah, Westerners. France legalized homosexuality on paper since the 80s. There were laws that repressed it before. I'm not saying that people were arrested for that, but they could. Ah. There are American states that legalized homosexuality in 2003. 2003. So you can't discover something. You can't introduce societal change in your country and then wake up the next day and declare that it's a universal value. And all those who don't follow that are from backward or phobic countries or have phobias, you know, phobias. A phobia is a psychiatric disorder, okay? In Arab countries, homosexuality is forbidden. Like, uh, it was forbidden. Not even really, but if you like, it is as it was considered in the West 30 or 40 years ago. That's all before the lobbyists intervened and glorified it and made it something extremely desirable. Extremely desirable.
Okay?
It's a change. And we can clearly see that this change today is giving or will give Westerners for those who still reproduce. It will give them family trees in three dimensions, even in four dimensions. So I say I respect everyone, but I want to say that one of the reasons, one of the ways in which we can make something universal is to experience it over time. It is to validate it over time. That means that if the west has been behaving the way it is today for three to four centuries, the direction it is going in today, and in three to four centuries, it will still be there, okay? Despite everything. I'm not just talking about homosexuality. I'm talking about sterility in general. I'm talking about mass abortion. I'm talking about things like that, okay? If he's here in three centuries, he'll be able to stand up and say, listen, here I am, I'm still here, okay? And the values that we've followed that have brought us here are values that can become universal, okay? Until that day, it's not possible. It's not credible at all, okay? It's like someone. Because since the 80s or the 2000s, it's nothing in the life of a nation. Ah. Because now it's like someone who becomes a vegetarian today and then the next morning starts accusing the entire world of being animal killers. Animal killers and I don't know what else, okay? And meat eaters and so on, okay?
Okay?
Countries, whatever they are, Arab countries or Muslim countries, must not observe the changes, societal choices, the societal choices of the West. And then it's a matter of applying them at all costs, okay? And if they don't apply them, they become something else, okay? We still have to know how to keep a level head about these things. Okay, then that's important, though. What did I want to tell you? I wanted to tell you something else too. I wanted to tell you something else in the context where sometimes I come across. I come across Islamists. They can tell me, yes, you and your friends, because sometimes they associate me with other people who, who are very numerous, who make videos, who do stuff and all that. Sometimes they can associate me with others. They say, you or your friends, you criticized us about the caliphs, about the veil, about Sharia law, about that. But today you say that we are homophobic. What do you want, my brother? Do you want us to fornicate with each other as Salafists, to raise your self esteem? Do you understand? No. And you have to know if you want to talk to people and if you are going to be credible. Uh, but it is often a sign of a lack of maturity, okay? To take the west and want to say that this is universalism incarnate. Okay, I'm coming slowly. I'm going to tell you something. You know, I don't like talking about myself, but I'll tell you something anyway. You know, if I compare myself to people who arrived in the west at the same time as me, or before or after, I consider that in general, I have made more efforts to assimilate, I have made more efforts to integrate. These are efforts that were extremely voluntary, positive. I didn't wait for it to come to me, I went towards it. And despite everything. Look how I'm talking. Look how I'm talking today.
Okay?
Today I can tell you something. Even if it upsets some people. As much as I identify with Western values, the old values of the west, the values that allowed the west to be what it is, I don't identify with the values that it is creating for itself, the values that it is adopting today, and the values that, in my opinion, will cause its disappearance in a relatively short period of time. So someone might say to me, yes, but you're dreaming, yes, you're delusional. The west is disappearing. What are you talking about? Yes, but I'll tell you something. We've seen, we all know of these families where the very rich patriarch dies, and then there are children who come along who take the money, the fortune that he has amassed throughout his life, which sometimes was amassed by their father, their grandfather, their great grandfather. Sometimes entire dynasties fall into the hands of people who don't have what it takes. And what are they going to do? They're going to squander the family treasure in a generation and end up on the streets. So while this young heir is blowing his family's money, he's still rich. We can always apply the adjective rich to him. We can say, yes, he's rich. Yes, he has money. Yes, he's blowing it. Will he be rich in the future? Nothing could be less certain. That's actually the situation in the west today. Yes, the west is rich. Yes, the west is strong today, in 2019. Except that what you are seeing is squandering. It is no longer construction, it is no longer moving forward. There are objective factors. There are objective elements that show a setback. These are not temporary crises. They are not steps back to make a better leap. No, on the contrary, they are a state of confinement. It is a state of degeneration, if you like. And we know that in the future, many things that have been broken in the west will not be repaired, will not improve in the future.
Okay?
It is seized with anxiety, it is seized with feelings. Let's say suicidal. There you have it. So to perhaps come back to the question I asked myself in this video, why is there a strong sense of commodoreism in the west today? Simply because when you have people who come from diverse and varied origins, who are associated, who have different civilizational references, they would probably be ready to give up, or perhaps not give up. The word is too strong, perhaps, to underestimate their origins. If the country where they arrive, if the country where they are sometimes even born, can offer them universal values, values that are sufficiently constant, sufficiently stable, in which they could all identify despite their differences. Okay, when you have a country like France, for example, where you have people who are of European origin, perhaps some of them came to what is called historical France. Others perhaps are former Portuguese, former Spanish, former Italian. Then you have others who come from the Maghreb, others from Africa, others from distant islands, others from Asia. Do you understand? To bring them together, to bring together a country like this. Because at that point, it's a country. It's not Korea. I mean, it's an extremely diverse country. To bring it together, you need to find a common denominator for all these communities. Now, the common denominator really is universal values, but authentically universal. That means values that have been there for 2,000 years. Ideally, you see, now, when you take values that are invented as and when by lobbyists, and we don't know, as the advert says, where you're going to go tomorrow, we don't know today where the west is going to go tomorrow. We don't know what it's going to legalize. We don't know what it's going to deal with. So I don't know what it's going to legalize tomorrow. And I know that once this thing has been legalized, I know that the next day all the countries that have not legalized it will be called fabs. They will be found to have a phobia.
Okay?
It is clear that today each community, each person will prefer to fall back on community values. At that point, they will prefer the values of their society of origin to resonate more strongly with them than these pseudo French values that we are in the process of inventing as the lobbies have their whims that they seek to impose on everyone.
Okay?
That is more or less the idea that I am trying to develop. And why was I talking about myself? And I told you that if you take it, there is a reason. It is that myself, myself, despite all the effort that I have made, where I think. Where I think that my profile could have presented more guarantees of integration, more guarantees of assimilation than the average today, I myself am in the process of vomiting up the West. I am vomiting up what it is becoming. I am vomiting up what it will become tomorrow. You see, if I have this aversion, it is for this West. I am not talking about the west of yesterday. I am talking about the west of today and tomorrow. If it inspires this aversion in me, think. Try to think about what the person who perhaps considers the West a little less, perhaps with a little less complacency than I do. Because despite everything I tell you, I vomit up the West. But know that I have, I have a lot of complacency towards this West. So understand that the person who is perhaps more average, let's say of his community, more average in the desire for integration, more average in the desire for assimilation, more average than me. I'm not average. I'm excessive in that sense. But let's go back a bit. Lets go to a person who is more in the average of these intentions. This person, they're not even going to glance at the west, okay? They're not even going to waste three seconds. It's obvious to this person that they're Chinese, Moroccan, Algerian, Venezuelan, it doesn't matter. It's clear that for this person, the values of their country of origin, okay? The values of their culture of origin, of their religion of origin are sometimes harmful or twisted to the point that they sometimes justify immigration in recombolesque situations. Sometimes they resonate more strongly than the Western values or pseudo values of today for this person. And so there's this community withdrawal. Understand it. Anyway, I'll leave you. I'll leave you. I could say more, I could say worse than that, but I think the message is good. I think the message got across well anyway, finally. I hope so. What I can tell you perhaps is that the more France in particular, but I can also talk about other countries, the more France advances, the more it advances by accepting, implementing, respecting, prioritizing, emphasizing the whims of extreme groups, the more it will disintegrate because the more it does this the more it will become the embodiment of values that are rejected by the majority and the and the more people will tend to withdraw into their community and not identify at all with any national community, which is terrible for a country because it immediately leads to Balkanization. See you soon, my friends.
