A witness recalls a 2012 phone call with Stephane Bornat, a Paris City Hall social services worker, who advised caution when discussing Arabs and Muslims. The speaker defends Bornat's character and expresses dismay that he lost his job over Islamophobia accusations, calling it an injustice.
Hello, everyone. There is a video of Mr. Stefan Borna circulating online. I came across it earlier. In this video, he talks about his misadventures with his employer, the Paris City hall. I think Mr. Stefan Borna, if I remember correctly, worked for the social services of the Paris City Hall. I apologize if I am not precise in my language. I am saying what I know from memory. In fact, I had the opportunity to speak to this person because he has been a Facebook contact for a very long time. I must have spoken, I think, in 2012. And I remember what he said to me on the phone. And today, since he is online and talking, I thought maybe I should also share my experience with this story. So, Mr. Borna, he told me at the time that I had to qualify my videos. He told me that sometimes I was a bit excessive in my remarks. Sometimes I tended to put everyone in the same basket. I tended not to qualify my remarks. But you have to understand me, I am an immigrant, and every time I talk about it, I. I am very, very passionate. It is true that there is also my, let's say, Mediterranean side that sometimes wins out, and I tend to go overboard or sometimes use strong images. So he criticized me for that. He said it was kind of funny because he had actually defended Muslim. He had defended Arabs and Algerians by telling me, listen, my friend, I like your videos, but I would like you to learn to qualify your remarks. Because he told me, I work in a field where I have access to a lot of people, where I speak with a lot of people of Arab Muslim origin, and there are extremely nice people, there are extremely worthy people. And of course, like in any nation, there is also the rest. And he had invited me to be clearer about these things and not to present only a negative image of the Arab Muslim community in my videos. So I was extremely shocked to see that this gentleman was the one who lost his job for Islamophobia. And so there I am once again. We can clearly see how the French system works. On the one hand, if you are an association that promotes. If you are actively promoting racial hatred and creating ethnic tensions or creating tensions in the country, then you can go forward with your head held high with the flag of anti racism. But you are talking about someone who works on the ground and who does things that seem right to him and things that correspond to a vision that seems to me to be very, very moral and very correct of the situation at that time. There, of course, you are the one who gets shot. So I found it sad that he was, let's say excluded in that way. And I take his testimony as I take what happened to him as an injustice. So we did that we committed against someone who is extremely valuable. I did not consult him before making this video. I did not tell him that I was going to make it. He did not ask me to make it. And I have not spoken to him for a very long time. But I just wanted to come and share my testimony on. That's it for this gentleman. That's it for now. See you soon.
