Can AI Help with Tech Issues?
25 Jun 2024 · 4 min
Brittany Long shows entrepreneurs how to use ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini to fix tech problems: record a Loom video of the issue, extract the transcript, and ask AI to spot what you missed. She also advises tech pros to charge flat or monthly rates for AI-assisted troubleshooting and use it to build question lists when documentation is outdated.

Tech headaches. And when tech doesn't seem to be working right, it can be one of the most frustrating things for an entrepreneur. And that's what one of my clients was experiencing today. So she was setting up this content machine, AI content, the machine that we had been working on. And when we did it together, she was like, all right, I got this, I think I can do the rest of it. And then she got into it and she was like, why is this not working? I'm sure you've experienced that at some point before. And sometimes, at least for me, sometimes I wish that I just had a tech helper on call 247 that I could say, hey, this thing isn't working. Can you help me? And if you're using an AI tool like ChatGPT or Claude, Lucky for you, that is possible. And I'm going to tell you how she made a Loom video for me to see what could possibly be wrong? And of course I'm going to look at that video. But she, she can actually do some of that too. So if you have a tech problem, go ahead and record yourself doing the thing, talking about what the problem is, what should happen, what the problem is, and then you're going to take the transcript from that. Now, I like using Loom to record my videos because I can get the transcript right from there, super easy. This is not sponsored, but I wish it was. So loom, reach out to me. But in all seriousness, so you're going to record a screen share video saying, what's working, what's not working, what it is that you want that it's not doing. And then from there you're going to get that transcript, put it into your favorite AI tool and ask it to help you identify what the issue might be. You can also have it ask you questions like, did you update the prompt? Did you do this? Did you do that to help you understand what might be going wrong? Most of the time, with a lot of the tech issues that I see and a lot of the tech issues I experience, it's more about I just missed a step or there's something that I forgot to do or even the platform changed the wording a little bit. And so I got stuck. And with ChatGPT, with Gemini, with Pod, you don't have to really deal with that as much anymore. You can shortcut that time between when you first have that tech issue to getting that tech issue resolved really fast. And if you are in the tech space and you feel frustrated hearing this, you're like, okay, what am I going to do if all these people are going to start using tools like ChatGPT to figure these things out? What I would do if I was you is I would make that part of my process and I would charge a flat rate every month to help them figure out the tech problem. Most people, if you're listening to this, you're forward thinking, you're using AI, that's awesome. But most people, many people are still not using ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini. And even if they are, they're not using it to its fullest capacity capabilities. And so if you are listening to this and you are one of the ones that are ahead of the game and you can use that and put it into your offer, you can even charge a higher premium. If you have somebody that is like, oh, I have proprietary information, I don't want to go into one of these tools. You can charge more to either create your own or to do it by hand, do it manually like they have been doing for the past five, 10, 15 years. But if you're going to do that, you can charge a premium versus for everyone else can charge your normal rates or less if you want. But either way, you can use AI as a tool to help you identify the problems faster and then get that information out to them faster. Now, of course, there's going to be some things that AI tool may not know yet. It might not be up to date on some of the new changes. If there's something that changes in the tech tool that you're using, I changed last night, it's probably not going to be in an AI tool already. So in that case, you might say something like, here's the problem. I know you may not know the answer yet, but I want you to help me figure out how to think about this problem. What questions I should be asking myself to solve this problem, even having those questions, like a list of questions, an SOP or a standard operating procedure of the questions to ask yourself every time you get stuck on a tech issue, certainly that would be helpful as well.
