20 Nov 2024 · 6 min
Podcast episode by Brittany Long (creator of AI200K) explaining how to discover podcast topics that resonate with your audience using surveys, AI (ChatGPT/Claude), and automated workflows (Zapier + Reddit). She describes using survey responses to understand audience needs, and setting up a Zap that watches subreddit hot posts, sends the post to ChatGPT to generate episode ideas/outlines, and saves results to Google Docs. The episode emphasizes automation to scale idea generation and reduce overhead.

Not sure what to make your podcast about? Don't worry, Bestie AI can help. In this episode, I'll show you how to use AI and a few other tools to figure out what your audience wants and how you can help them and what you can make a podcast about. Around that tools I'll talk about today are Reddit, Zapier and ChatGPT. My name is Brittany Long. I'm the creator of AI200K. Let's hop in. Recently I was talking to someone who said I want to start a podcast, but I don't know what to talk about and I feel like it takes forever. I have some surveys that I've done, but I still don't really know what to talk about. So if this sounds familiar, first of all, surveys are a really great way to figure out what your audience wants you to talk about, why they come to you. I like to do a survey anytime somebody joins any of my programs to find out why they joined the program because then I can use messaging that brings more people like them into the program. So for example, let's look at AI 200k. People join that because they want the community, they want to fast track to evergreening their business, to using AI effectively. And so those are the things that I'm going to talk about in my marketing messaging because I know that's already what people want, that's already what works for that particular program. So if you have any surveys, amazing. If you don't have surveys, that's okay. This is a great day to start. Typically, I asked for their first and last name, I asked why they joined the program, what would make the program a success to them, anything that has kind of them stuck in the past. As much as I can learn about them so that I know how to best help them. So what their business is, their niches, all of that. So if you have that already, you can plug that into ChatGPT I or Claude. I usually just copy and paste and say, based on the information you see below, can you tell me about my audience, what they want, what they want to hear about? And then I can also say and what other what kind of podcast episodes should I cover that will not only help them and, you know, spill that relationship, but make it an easier yes for them to say yes to my program, AI200K, for example. So for that I'm looking for any questions or concerns they have. They talk about what would make this a success for them. I want to cover those kind of things to be able to give them a taste of hey, here's what it would look like to work together. Now, let's say that you don't have survey information, or even if you do, you want additional ideas on what kind of things you can talk about on your podcast. So to do that, we can set up a zap. And a zap is basically this automation or this connection between one tool to another tool so that you don't have to manually pull this information. So here's what you're going to do inside of Zapier and I'll drop a link below. You're going to choose the Reddit option. So when there's a new hot post inside of Reddit on a specific subreddit. So this for a subreddit for me, for example, could be entrepreneurs or female entrepreneurs. And so I'm going to look for a subreddit that has that, and then I'm going to put that subreddit in and I'm going to say when there's a new hot post, that basically means when a lot of people are commenting on a specific post in Reddit on this particular channel, you to pull the information so what the original post was. And then I want you to come up with, you know, or six different potential podcast episodes that either answer the question, address the question about the question, or, you know, content around the idea of the question. Now, I like doing this because if it's a hot post, chances are it's something more people are interested in. Specifically a subreddit that has my audience, then chances of them wanting to hear about this are pretty high. Now, once I've done that, so you've connected it with the trigger is a little hot post in Reddit. And then after we have that trigger, the next thing that we're going to do is, like I said, send to ChatGPT to come up with some ideas on on what to talk about during that podcast based around this particular question or post and this subreddit. And once that's done, the next thing that we're going to do is put it into a Google document. The connection goes subreddit, chatgpt, Google Doc. And so by the end of that, you have a Google Doc hot post topic that's in that particular subreddit. And if you do it right, if you use the right prompting, then you can even get it to kind of come up with the outline in the show notes too, if you want for this particular podcast episode or that particular topic. Now, Reddit is one of my favorite places to go to get this. These ideas kind of brainworm because people can post anonymously. And it seems, in my experience anyway, it seems to be a little bit more genuine than maybe what people are posting on Facebook or someplace else. LinkedIn and really easy to kind of audit. And so if this is not something you're currently doing is this market research and coming up with ideas, it's a great thing to get started with today. Like I said, I'll drop a link below so you can get started with Zapier, if you haven't already. And Zapier is a tool that I use every single day for a lot of different tasks. Basically, anything that can be automatable, we automate it. That is something that needs that human touch, the one on one human touch. We do, you know, a person for that. But everything else we try to automate, this helps us keep our overhead low and our profits high. It also reduces the number of people that we need to hire, which means less time and less management. For me, I appreciate this has been just one of the many, many ways you can use AI in your business and in your life. If you'd like to see more, I have a guide of 120 ways you can use AI today in your business, in your life. I'll drop the link to that in the show notes and I'll talk to you next time. Again, this is Brittany Long, creator of AI to 100K, and I'll talk to you soon.
