How AI Transformed My Daily Life
4 Jul 2024 · 6 min
Host Brittany Long describes how AI (notably ChatGPT and Claude) has meaningfully reduced her mental load and improved problem-solving and content-creation. She gives concrete examples—AI helps with copy, emails, social posts, outfit planning—and advises giving very specific feedback and examples to the AI (and saving that feedback) so the model mirrors your voice. The episode mixes personal development reflections (practice/doing leads to growth) with tactical prompting guidance.

In reality, is AI making a difference? For me, the resounding answer is yes. And I didn't think that it would make as big of a difference as it has in the way that it has. But there's been a few surprising data points for me that show me just how much it's impacting my everyday life. Let's go ahead and get into it. So when I first started in a mastermind that I'm in, I was using the mindset coach a lot. Like every day, multiple times a day, having multiple calls, like one on one calls a month. There was a lot going on. To be fair, there was a lot going on when I joined. And I realized this week that I went almost an entire week without reaching out, without needing to process anything. And part of that is because I've been using AI for some of it, specifically ChatGpta Quad. But the other part was now that I have more time, I realize it's not as much of a mental load to work through this stuff because I don't have all these other things on my plate that were there previously. So recently, for example, I was working through this idea that I, in order to get to my next level, I need to develop a few skills, both personal development wise, also card skill wise. And I was thinking, how do I become this new version of myself that I want to be? And I realized what it's by doing, by taking action on those things again and again and again and again. And so that's just who I am. And I think I probably knew it deep down, but it just was something that kind of lingered there for a while. And there have been a lot of times where I've tried to figure out how to get to something in the easiest, fastest path. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that. And I also think that oftentimes the only way forward when you need to level up, when you're ready to level up, is by taking action again and again until eventually that's just who you become is somebody that does that particular thing. And I don't know if I would have come to that conclusion quite so readily without the help of AI because AI is helping with my copy, it's helping with my emails, it's helping with my social posts, it's helped me with every and helped me plan what to wear to Disney that I could be comfortable. Like, it just helps with everything, every bit of my life. And I was a little worried that would make my problem solving less, my problem solving skill less sharp. Really. It hasn't done that. It's given me ideas to think about and it's giving me, it's giving me ways to think. So now when I'm faced with a problem, instead of only looking at solutions that I already know, that I've seen from other people that I've experienced in the past, now I'm thinking, okay, those are my solutions. What other solutions might be out there? So I'm thinking, what, what potential solutions might ChatGPT or might Claude give me? And even before I go there, I'm able to think of here are other potential ways of doing things, ways of thinking. And I didn't even know to ask those questions or to think that way before using AI so much. So if you want to become a better problem solver, if you want to have less of mental loads so that you can work through mindset stuff that might be coming up for you, using AI to lighten that load is really important. And one of the ways that I do that, one of the best things that I've done is by using very specific feedback when I'm creating copy with it, creating content with it. So I'll give it the feedback and then I will. I really like this because or I don't like this because or this sounds too X, Y and Z. What I'm looking for instead is and so I'm giving examples of what I want, I'm giving specific feedback of what I like and don't like. And it's the same way if I was working with a human team member, I would also give a lot of that feedback as well, of the really specific feedback. So that's what we want to do with whatever AI tool you're using. Because giving that specific feedback, giving examples, it, it helps it understand what it is that you're looking for. Just like with a human teammate, you wouldn't be like, write me an email about this topic and expect them to write it exactly like you unless you let them know here's how we normally write or unless you had a way for them to find that out now they may be able to go and reference it and stuff like that. With AI, specifically with ChatGPT, you can upload a knowledge base and use a GPT or even the chat with documents uploaded so that it has that reference of what it is that you're looking for. So it has that base to start with. And so if you're wanting ChatGPT specifically to write copy or content that sounds like you first, my, my recommendation is starting with a transcript, but let's say you can't do that for some reason, then in that case, what you can do is say, this is who I'm talking to. This is how I normally write, how I normally sound. Here's an example of an email that I've written before. I want you to write like that about this particular topic and then expect to give it some feedback. And the more feedback you can give it, the better. I typically spend the majority of my time when I'm using AI. I spend the majority of my time giving feedback on the first few, let's say, emails, first few social posts. And then once I've done that, I don't really need to continue to season that chat or GPT as much because I already have it giving me the information that it already has, the information that I wanted to have and the feedback. And then I also save that feedback. So any feedback that it gives me, I copy and paste it into a document. Then if I need to, let's say it's not giving me what I'm looking for, I can say, hey, I've given you feedback on this before. Here's the feedback I've given you. Please review it and try again. And that's really. We see some of that magic happening. All right, that's it for today. My name is Brittany Long. I'm the podcast host here and also a podcast host at over at Mom Entrepreneurs Using AI. You can find me online at Hack Driven AI. We'll talk to you soon.
