Brittany Long presents a short coaching-style podcast about using AI to help business owners avoid summer sales slumps. She gives a concrete prompt template to feed to AI, recommends iterative follow-ups (ask for many ideas, then refine), and frames AI as a creativity-enhancing partner to generate marketing, launch, and traffic ideas while preserving work–life balance.

I see it happen every year. Businesses that are doing okay the rest of the year are in a slump during the summer and the business owner is freaking out. Heck, even businesses that do really well and thrive the rest of the year sometimes see a slump in the summer. So how can AI help fix it? I'm glad you asked. Let's jump into it. In most businesses, there's a pattern. When summer comes, a lot of their audience is out doing vacation is out. Maybe they have their kids on break. And so the life of an entrepreneur or even the life of a B2C, like a customer from B2C is going to look different during the summer than it might look the rest of the year. And that means one thing. What we do with our business and how we sell it might need to look different too, if you don't want to be in a slump this summer. So the first thing AI can do to help with that is to identify where there is room for opportunity and where you might get stuck. Here's a prompt you can use to help. I have a business that. And then describe what your business does and we work with whoever it is that you work with. Be as descriptive here as you can. Who want whatever outcome it is that audience wants out, whatever it is that they don't want. So that, you know, I want to do this without spending more time, without losing time with my family, without loads of money, whatever it is that they don't want to do, we're going to put that there. And the main problem I solve for them is then you're going to say during the summer, my sales normally. What your sales normally do they say even do they slump? Do they grow? Whatever it is, go ahead and say that. And I want your help to whatever the outcome is that you want, whatever goal it is that you want, I want to grow. Instead, I want to maintain my sales during the summer or I want to grow my sales during the summer, my revenue during the summer. Here's what I'm doing already. I want you to help me come up with ideas on what I could do differently or in addition to what I'm doing that. And then here's where you're going to talk about that you want. So maybe it's I want to be able to grow my business without being, you know, first week working. I want to be able to grow my business and still take my kid to Chuck E. Cheese's, you know, for the day during the summer. So whatever it is that you want out of this, not just the I want to increase my revenue, but I want to increase my revenue while also not overworking or whatever the case might be. You can also share what has or hasn't worked for you recently and then ask it for some ideas. Now, this is one of my favorite ways to use AI is as kind of a brainstormer or to be outside of the box that you're currently in. So we all kind of have boxes based on our experiences, based on what we've seen happen for other people, based on what's worked or not worked in the past for us. And so by using AI to help you see out of your own, you know, can be helpful and can help you think more creatively than you know if you're on your own. What's interesting is that sometimes I hear people talking about AI and they say they're concerned that they're going to lose their creativity because they're using AI. And I actually did see that a little bit at first when I was like, I'm just going to take everything it says. But then I started to use it more as a team member, more like a partner, more like a former buddy. That's really when I saw it as not a creativity taker, but a creativity enhancer. And so I'm able to look at, here's the ideas it gave me. And a lot of times there's ideas it gives me that I already know, but then there's sometimes it gives me ideas where I wouldn't have thought of it. It's just completely like so outside of my normal box I just wouldn't have thought of it. And so typically when that happens is I'll do a prompt like this and then after that I'll say something like, now I want you to give me 20 more ideas and I want you to think outside of the box. Think so far outside of the box that the box doesn't even exist. So I give it full permission to really think creatively and then I give it some suggestions and ideas based on what I like and I don't like. So then the follow up prompt is, okay, I like this idea because why ever I like it, I don't like this particular part of it, or I don't like this idea, this idea, give me more of them. And so typically if there's an idea it gives me that I like, then I'll ask it to double down on that and to give me more suggestions. Now you can apply this to pretty much anything in business. You can use something similar when you're coming up with launch ideas. When you're coming up with traffic ideas, when you're coming up with what to present at a conference, ask it to think outside the box for you or with you, keeping in mind who your audience is. This is going to be really helpful for you if you are a solopreneur. If you're somebody that's really low on time, feel like you're in crisis mode and you need to get out of it. I see this happen sometimes and actually drop this episode when I did before. Summer really gets in the swing of things is because sometimes I'll see people towards the end of summer and they'll be freaking out because their summer was really slow. And so the sooner you can do something like this, the better. It's always easier to when you're not. When you don't feel like you're backed into a corner. And so if you're listening to this and it's into summer and you're like, crap, I'm already backed into a corner. That's all right. This still gives you a really good place to kind of get out without using a lot of your mental and emotional energy. Typically, I see when people are in really challenging situations, especially, you know, it's an in summer kind of thing and you didn't have as many sales as you wanted or something like that. Um, and by the way, typically I see that happening because talking about their offers as much during the summer because they have other things going on, they're busy, and then all of a sudden it's been a month since anybody heard about your offer. And so you know something, work on to be solving it. But if you're at the end of the summer, you're like, crap, what do I do now? Use prompt. It's going to help take out. It's going to help you come up with some ideas. You getting into writer's block or thinker's block of what do I do next? So it helps me more objectively instead of being stuck on here's everything that's going wrong. There's nothing that could possibly solve this. And maybe you don't think that way, but every once in a while I'll spiral and I'll be like, oh, nothing will ever solve this. And that's not true. There's always solutions to everything. Harder to see it. I think when you are in a difficult position, feel like you're not thriving. So this helps you kind of come out of buy some solutions and finding that hope again so that you can hit the ground running. My name is Brittany Long and I help Mom.
