How to Make Your Progress Fun and Achievable
1 Oct 2024 · 4 min
Brittany Long shows how to use ChatGPT to build a printable game board that tracks your progress toward any goal, with levels and checkpoints. She walks through the steps: describe where you are and where you want to go, ask ChatGPT to design a themed game board, refine the visuals, then print it at Staples. Examples include training for a half marathon and learning violin songs.

If every task you have to do gets turned into a game, so you'll get it done. If you do things when they're fun, but not always when they're not, then you're going to love this episode. In AI 200K, recently, I was showing folks how they could gamify their life like a real game of life. I'm going to walk you through how to do it and the steps I'm taking once I've gotten this done. So step one, we're going to head into chat GPT and I have the full prompt in AI 200K, but off the top of my head, something like this. I'm going to tell you about where I am versus where I want to be. And I want you to help me figure out how to level up. I do best when something's a game, when it's fun. So I want you to approach us like you approach reading a game. I want to have certain things that I have to finish up in order to move to the next level and then tell it about where you're at versus where you want to be now. For me, when I did this, I didn't just stick to business. I also went into life stuff. So I went into, you know, in a half marathon in a year, I want to able to play at least two Christmas songs on my violin in three months. I really tried to take a holistic approach to it instead of just business. From there, I asked it to create a game board for me. And so my ultimate goal here was to get a game board that I could print at Staples or something like that and then get it laminated and actually cross things off as I go and be able to see a visual representation of how I'm leveling up and moving forward. Sometimes we are moving forward in our business, in our life, we're growing. But because we have this maybe faraway goal of what we want to accomplish, it doesn't feel like we're making the progress we want. It feels far away, it feels hard. It feels like, man, I'm trying so hard and nothing is happening. I'm not moving forward like I won. And by the way, usually that just means we're not moving forward as fast as we want. But having some kind of game board to be able to check off the spaces and move forward, I think is going to be able to help me see that that progress that's actually happening towards my goal. The other thing that I really love about this is that I am asking it to name the spaces that are going to be most important for the main goals. So most important for increasing revenue in our business, most important for a healthier lifestyle for me, basically, how. What tasks do I need to take to get the most, like, bang for my buck, so to speak? When it asks or when I started doing the game board with it or asking to create the game board, it started asking me questions like how I wanted it to look. Now, because I shared that I wanted it to be like a hero's journey to it. I wanted it to be fun and like a game and like I had to go through these levels because I said those things specifically. It gave me ideas for like mythical foresty kind of game board and I love that. If it gives you some ideas you don't like, just say, I like this, but I don't like that. Just be really specific about what you do and don't like and then it can make those updates for you. After that, I told it a little bit more about what I wanted for the game board and then I asked it to give me a prompt to be able to create the game board that I was describing. So it gave me a prompt. I put that prompt in also to ChatGPT and then it created some ideas for me on the kind of game board that I'm looking for. Then I told it what I liked and didn't like and had it regenerate until I got pretty much to what I wanted. And just like that, I had a game of life for myself. And so today I'm heading to Staples to print it out and actually start using my own personal game of life to help me level up and really see the progress that I'm making. Now. If you like this, you're going to love AI 200k, which is how we holistically add AI into our businesses and to our lives. And if you'd like lots of community support and momentum, you'll also want to take a look at applying for the Mastermind. This has been another episode with Brittany Long and I will talk to you soon.
