Brittany Long, a former copywriter, walks through using Claude or ChatGPT to write emails that sell. Upload your audience and brand voice to the AI's memory, request an outline first, then iterate with specific feedback. Save what works so the AI learns faster and each email takes less time.

Good emails can bring in money, but if you're not finishing any emails because it's taking too long, you're not sure what to write. There's all this procrastination. You're not going to be making money from emails. So we want to talk today about making money from emails and getting them done with ChatGPT or Claude. So let's go ahead and jump into it. First, if you don't know, I have a background in copywriting email marketing. In fact, email marketing is pretty much the majority of what I did before AI. And so when I'm looking at emails and how to create emails, I'm looking at it from that perspective of how can we make emails that write? How can we write emails that make money that don't take forever to create? First, you want to choose what model we're using and the topic that we're going to be doing for the emails. And model I would recommend would either be Claude 3 opus at the time this recording is the newest version, or ChatGPT4O. Now, ChatGPT 4.0 just became available to everyone, whether you have the paid version or the free version. And this one, in my opinion, writes a lot better copy, but you may need some tweaking alongside it. And then second, we're going to talk about the topic. What's the topic that we want for this particular email and what's the end goal or the outcome? What do we want them to do at the end of it? So let's say I have a course that shows adults how to start doing ballet later on in their life. And I want to, ultimately, I want to sell more of this course for this particular email. Maybe it's a nurture email. I want to address a common misconception I hear. And then at the end of it, in the P.S. i want them to click to the link to the sales page. So this one would be more of a soft sell where we're focusing on nurturing first and then selling at the end. Now I'm going to go to ChatGPT or Claude and I'm going to basically say what I want. So I'm going to say I want you to create an outline. And I should say this. An outline is really important to do first. And I know that it might feel a little frustrating or feel like you're wasting time, but what I found is that if I ask for an outline first, I get exactly what I want a lot more frequently than if I don't do an outline. If I don't do an outline. It's like, I hope this email finds you well and it's short and it's just not very good. So by doing it this way, I get again more of what I want faster, which is really my goal with this. And so I'm going to say basically I want you to create an outline for an email about this topic. The goal is for them to click on this link at the end while still being nurtured. If you haven't already, put your audience, your brand, voice, examples of your emails into the memory database that it has. Basically the memory will just update automatically if you don't have it where the memory has updated when you're talking about your audience. So this is a great time to do it. So even before you do the outline, if you haven't updated the memory, what you're going to do is create a document that describes your audience and as great of depth as possible it can be the psychographics, demographics, just everything as clearly written out as possible. And I've talked in the past on my YouTube channel about how to come up with your audience if you don't have that already. So if that sounds like you, you'll want to head to my YouTube channel. You check that out and I'll drop the link for that in the show notes below. But if you already have that, what you're going to do is upload your brand voice document, your audience document, and some sample or example emails. And these emails, we want them to be emails that sound like you, that you're really proud of, but also emails that have converted for you too. And so we're going to put those in and you can put those in by attaching there's like a little paperclip next to where you would type in the information. And so you're going to click on the paperclip and you'll upload those documents. You could also copy and paste too. And then we're going to specifically say I want you to add this information to your memory. Then you'll see where it says after you press enter, it's going to say memory updated. And that lets you know that's been updated. You can also click on that and it's going to show you what it was updated with. So you know exactly what's going into the memory that's going to be impacting all of your chats. And then if there's anything you want to delete that doesn't res supposed to go in there, you can click the little trash can that's next to the text and it's going to delete that for you. Once it has that information that it needs, then you're going to go ahead and finish out with the outline. So you're going to say something along the lines of now I want you to create an outline for this email. Here's what the goal of the email is. Here's what the topic of the email is. Please review my sample emails that I gave you before so you can see the format of how I write. I'll also say don't start with hi sewing. Don't start with I hope this finds you well. Jump right into it. The sentence should be a hook. It should be really interesting. It should be so interesting that it compels them to keep reading the second sentence, the third sentence, and so on. I'll also put it put information about how I normally sign off knows how to do that as well. And then I ask it to create the outline. So once we have the outline, I'll take a look at it. As long as it looks good, that's perfect. And then I'll have it write the email. One more depth on how to write the email so you can see the back and forth and the feedback. I give it in AI to 100k and I'll drop the link to that below also. But one thing I really want you to know is that typically that first email that I write in any kind of series of emails is going to take a lot longer than the rest of them. And every once in a while people say, oh, it'll just be faster if I do it myself. But that's the reason that people don't grow, that businesses don't grow is because the business owner is constantly saying, oh, it's faster if I just do it myself. It's faster if I just do it myself. And before they know it, this one it's faster if I just do it myself. Ends up taking the whole day because they keep saying it about all these other things in their business. They say it about sop. They say it about writing emails or about writing sales copy, about reaching out like it's something that all of a sudden they've said I'll just do this one thing. And that one thing piles up into a million other things. Anyway, so the where you're giving feedback is really, really important. The other thing I would say too, that will help you save time when you're giving feedback is instead of just giving the feedback and hoping that it'll save or assuming that it'll save. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't into the memories. What I would recommend doing is giving the feedback and then saving copy and pasting any feedback you gave into a feedback document, uploading that too and asking to save that to the memories as well. One final note before I leave you today with the feedback you want to give civic feedback. So think about how the how you would give feedback to a human team member. You'd want it to be really specific. You'd want to give examples if there's something you didn't like. You might say I don't like this part because and then why you don't like it. And here's an example of really what we want to do with AI too. It's only its output is going to be as good as your input. So if you're giving it really vague feedback and then wondering why it's not giving you the output you want, that might be a really good reason. Or that might be the reason that it's not giving you what you want. So at the beginning especially, you might have to give it some extra feedback. Just like if you hired a copywriter, you give some extra feedback, most likely towards the beginning and then you would expect, you know, the longer working together, the less feedback. You'd expect to spend some time, some extra time on that first email, even the second email as well after that. Especially if you're doing a series of emails that has the same voice and you should be good to go for quite a while. This was another episode of the Doable Podcast. I'm your host Brittany Long.
