30 Oct 2024 · 4 min
A short podcast episode by Brittany Long explaining how parents can use AI (e.g., ChatGPT) to simplify family meal planning and event meal coordination. The speaker gives practical scenarios—using photos of fridge/pantry to get recipe ideas, asking for no-cook or restaurant options, and generating menus that account for multiple dietary preferences—to save time and reduce stress.

Mom, what's for dinner? If you have heard that question more times than you can possibly count and you feel like that question might just break you if you get asked that again, this episode is for you. So the what's for dinner question, whether your mom, whether your dad, whoever you are in these kids life, they want dinner and you need to make it. And I think one of the, one of the things I didn't expect about parenthood was how tiring it would be to figure out dinner. It's not even for me. It's not even the making it, it's the what is it that we're going to even have. And so with AI, you can narrow down what to have. It can help you come up with ideas. Let's walk through what that would look like. Scenario one, it's 3:00pm you pick up your kiddo from school at 4:00pm and you realize, I have no idea what we're doing tonight. So what you're going to do is go to your fridge, open it up and take a picture. Then you're going to go to ChatGPT on your phone and say, and upload the picture and say, I have no idea what to cook for dinner tonight. Tell me what my options are based only on what in the fridge. And then upload that picture and it's going to give you some ideas. And then let's say it gives you some ideas and one of them includes Brussels sprouts. You have some Brussels sprouts in there. You can be like, you know what, I love Brussels sprout. Brussels sprouts. But him, he doesn't like Brussels sprouts at all. So what alternative can we, what alternative side can we have for him? And so then you bring that option in as well, based on again, what's in your fridge. Or you can take a picture of what's in your pantry, but it's going to give you some ideas for that. Or let's say it's 11:00am and you're like, I really don't want to cook tonight. So then you can go to ChatGPT and say, I don't want to cook tonight. Give me some ideas on what we can have for dinner. Doesn't require me cooking tonight. Crock pot is okay. And leftovers is okay. Here's what we have. Give me some ideas or maybe give me some ideas on healthy options at restaurants near us. Here are some of the restaurants near us. And so it's going to give you some ideas for whatever it is that you want to eat the Other cool thing is, let's say that you have friends that are coming over or family or whatever, and you want to make a dinner for everybody that they like. And so you say, or let's say you're even cleaning for the holidays. I have my family coming over for the holidays. There's going to be nine people. Of the nine people that are coming, two of them are vegetarians, one of them is vegan, one of them only eats meat. One of them, like you go through everybody's dietary preferences, then you can even say X amount of people. Hate fish, hate the smell of it. Three people have type 2 diabetes and they prefer things that are lower on the glycemic index. You just go through the list of everything that you know. These folks, you can do the same thing for drinks, for mocktails, and you ask IT to create a menu based on everyone's preferences. So instead of spending hours doing this yourself, try and figure this out. Make sure everybody's happy. All you have to do is ask to do it for you. And to kind of help you narrow down, let's say you have somebody that's gluten free and you're like, all right, I know that they really love cookies, but they're gluten free. What are some gluten free cookie recipes that I can use that they'll most likely like if they like this brand of cooking? Normally, by using AI to help with your meal planning, to help with your event planning, your party planning, your Christmas meal planning, whatever it is, by asking AI to help with that, it saves you a ton of time. So that instead of starting off that season or that day or that night feeling stressed out, you're starting feeling like, I have this all together and it hasn't taken you tons of time, tons of hours. So hope that helps. My name is Brittany Long. I'm the creator of AI 200k and the AIM mastermind. I'll talk to you soon.
