Writing Sale Page Using AI
13 Jun 2024 · 8 min
Brittany Long explains how to write effective sales pages using AI, emphasizing that AI speeds up iteration so you can test and refine copy rather than abandoning offers prematurely. Key steps include deeply understanding your audience (use survey responses and prompt AI to profile psychographics), clarifying the main problem your offer solves and the UVP, and using an outline-first, section-by-section AI workflow with examples and non-examples to get specific, differentiated copy. She also promotes her AI to 10K workshop and offers a podcast discount.

When was the last time you've had to write a sales page from start to finish? And how long did it take you for a sales page? It converted well. I've heard of some people writing sales pages super fast and then they flop. I've heard of excellent copywriters who have written sales pages and it's flopped. I've heard of excellent copywriters who have written sales pages and it's done well. But I want to know for you, when was the last time you wrote a really good sales page that converted well and it didn't take you hours or even weeks to to write? Now, if you're using AI, you may say, yes, today, but if you're not using AI, you may say, ah, it's been a while or forever. Now, as somebody who is a professional copywriter and who has done it for a while now, copywriting in general is a skill that's a really great skill to have, and it's also a skill that takes a while to master. And so while I absolutely think it's a great thing to learn how to do with AI, you can still write a great sales page without hiring an expensive copywriter. And coming from someone who's a pricey copywriter, that's amazing. And you can get it done faster and you can get it done well and it converts. One of the best parts about using AI to help you write sales copy, in my opinion, is that because you can get it done faster, you can test out more and faster. One of the problems I see people making is they'll write sales copy and then they're like, oh, it doesn't convert. And then they just ditch that whole offer altogether and are like, I guess it's just the offer. But a lot of times it's not the offer. A lot of times it's just their sales copy didn't reflect the problem that offer solves in a way that was meaningful or enticing to their audience. And so one of the things you can do if do a launch or something like that, and you don't have the numbers that you were hoping for. Actually, let's talk about that for a second. A lot of times when people's launches flop, they don't actually flop, but the person thinks that they flop because they didn't look at their numbers ahead of time. And so if you're expecting to make a hundred sales, but you don't have that kind of traffic, you don't have that many people or like enough people on your email list to get the number of people seeing the sales page, like it's just a matter of percentages. And so if you know what percent of people you need or how many, sorry, how many people you need to land on the sales page to make a hundred sales, then we think, okay, what's the traffic? And if you still get the, if you get the traffic and you still don't make those numbers, then we say, okay, is it the offer is the sales copy. But either way, the sales copy you can make tweaks a lot faster to the headline, to the sub headline. You can have ideas for what to change on the images and you can do all of that a lot faster with the help of AI. Now this is just a side note. If you are like, I want to use AI to make more in my next launch I have a workshop, it's called AI to 10K. If you join from this podcast, you can use the code podcast and get it for free. I will drop that link in the show notes. But yeah, you can access that for free just as a thanks for listening to the podcast. It shows you how to earn more on your next launch with the help of AI. So let's talk about a few things that we need for sales copy in order to be able to write the most compelling sales page we possibly can and how AI can help with that. So the first thing that we need to know is our audience. And if you're not 100% sure who your audience is, if it's been a while since you reviewed your audience, if you are making assumptions about your audience with somebody's just not quite clicking, then you may want to revisit your audience and have AI help you do that. And so one way you can have AI help you do that is to take any kind of, let's say you've done a survey when somebody joins, and if you're not already, I would recommend this, but you have a survey, somebody joins and they fill out this form where they, they answer a few questions. One of the questions should be why did you decide to join this program? Because once you have the answer on why people are joining, you get to see the patterns, the things that are sticking out to people. For example, with AI200, which is our program, so we have AI to 10K, which is our workshop, and AI to 100K which is a our year long program we have with that one, I thought for sure I knew why people were joining. But when I looked back at it, one of the big reasons people joined was because they get a monthly copy audit Monthly copy review. And so they can submit their copy for review, we take a look at it and give them feedback. And when I say we take a look at it, professional copywriters that I've hired to take a look at it, we'll take a look at it. And so now that I know that's a big selling point for them, now that I know creating more content more easily with AI is a big selling point for them, that's what I know to lean into on the sales page. And I you want to take the form and you can put that in the chat GPT and basically say, I want you to review who my audience is. You can also ask questions like, what's your biggest frustration right now? Tell me about who you work with, Tell me about the kind of work that you do. And so you can get a really full picture of those patterns of who the majority of your audience is. Why are they coming into your world? What are their problems or frustrations? That also informs you on the kind of offers to make, too. One of the biggest mistakes I've made in my business in the past was I would make an offer that I knew they needed, but not necessarily one that they wanted right now. So, for example, Evergreen emails, just emails in general. Sometimes business owners will know that they need them, but it feels so daunting and overwhelming that they, they don't really want them. They want it done, they just don't want it. They don't want to be the ones to do it. And you want to think about that is, who is my audience, what are their pain points, what keeps them up at night? And one of the prompts I use to get more clear on my audience is that very thing. So I'll put in any kind of survey information that I have and then I'll say, I want you to think about who my audience is at a deep level. You can make assumptions, but I want to know who they are. I want to go deeper into the psychographics. When you think you've gone deep enough, go deeper. And I asked for what keeps them up at night, what excites them, what drives them, what motivates them, what helps or what is it that loses their motivation. And so I try to get as clear as possible on who that is, because then I can use ChatGPT or Claude to write content for me, write social media posts, for example, that still sound like me and speak to the heart of my audience. Because I'm not coming from a general place. I'm coming from a really specific really in depth place. This is why I have people that message me that say things like, I feel like you're in my head. And that's a sign of a good copywriter too. And if you wouldn't consider yourself a good copywriter, then using AI to help you go deep into this and then write some of that content is really great. One of the things you're going to want to do when you're writing sales copy is ask it to be more specific. When it first comes out, it's going to be pretty vague and that's not you. It will sound like everything else is out there. It might be decent, but it's still going to not differentiate enough. And so we want to ask it to further define your UVP unique value proposition. In addition to that, we also want it to want to give it the feedback of I like this, I don't like this. So when you're writing your or when you're having it write your sales copy first, I would have it start with an outline instead of writing the full name. I find that having it start with an outline and then go in section by section while it takes a little bit longer. First of all, it still takes way less time than me doing it myself. But while it does take a little bit longer, it's also, it's also just much better. So that's why I would recommend that. But as you're going section by section, you're going to say I like this part. Or you might say I don't like this part because it's too vague, it's not descriptive enough, not specific enough. And then give it an example of what you're looking for. If you really wanted to get exactly what you're looking for much faster, then you're going to give it examples and non examples. So what I like, here's what I would change. And then what I don't like, here's what I would change. And so by doing this, you have a better chance of getting more of what you want faster and easier. We also want to look at what your offer actually is and what problem, what's the main problem that it solves? And then we can go into the sub problems also. And so that's something else we're going to be doing as we write this sales page. Now, if you like this and you want more and more in depth, more prompts, AI to 10K workshop is absolutely going to help you. And you can get it for free right now because you listen to this podcast, click the link that comes in the show notes, and it's going to take you straight to that page. You can access the workshop for free. All right. My name is Brittany Long. I'm the host of this podcast, the Doable with AI Podcast, and then also the Moms Using AI Podcast.
