$232,297 collected with an organic 3-day challenge (how to crush challenge funnels in 2025)

Magiclipper's agency ran a 3-day live challenge that brought in $232,297 for a client in under ten days. The funnel stacked a free opt-in, $99 VIP tier, and $67 downsell, then used open loops and homework to drive sales calls. He breaks down what worked, what didn't, and how to repeat it.

What's up? It's Magiclipper here. Back with another video and back with another ugly ass Google document. And in today's video I'm going to be showing you how we scripted, crafted and launched a three day challenge that made one of our clients $232,297 in less than 10 days. And this was without huge ad budget distribution. When you run a small retargeting campaign or advanced tech systems in place. This is a simple three day challenge structure that will flood your sales team candle with high qualified sales calls and and push you past your current revenue ceiling. And it doesn't matter what is revenue ceiling currently is. It can be $50,000 a month, $100,000 a month, $150,000 a month, even $300,000 a month. Incorporating a challenge like this to your current conversion mechanism portfolio will only make your job easier. It will only allow you to achieve the goals that you've wanted. And I'm going to be walking over exactly how. And that's what of course today's video is for. I'm going to be showing you the ins and outs of this challenge, show you what we've done, the mistakes that we made, and some general observations surrounding challenges funnels. So if you look to incorporate it for yourself, you're in the right position. Or if you're the info marketer wanting to incorporate a challenge for your clients, you're also in the right place. Now, before we jump to the value, here's a few screenshots I wanted to share. The first one of course, showcasing $232,297. This challenge alone actually put a client past a million dollar month, which was pretty impressive. And here is a screenshot from our Slack channel. From a sales Manager, I'd expect 8% sharp rates, 50% close, 300 calls, that's 240 live and 120 closes right now with the value. General observations Three day challenges are superior. People always talk about five day challenges and I have seen them work like don't get me wrong, but retention is your biggest challenge. With funnels, no pun intended, you need open loop and retention systems in place to ensure people attend each day. And the bigger the window is, the more drop offs we will happen. And if we kind of understand the nature of a challenge funnel right, it's our job as marketers to show that an attendee attends every single day of the challenge and get someone to attend. Day one, day two, day three is a lot easier than getting someone to attend day one, day two, day three, day four and day five. Right? Of course it is possible, 100%, don't get me wrong. But there's less moving part in place with three day challenges. And what I've also noticed, to make challenges efficient and of course effective, you can actually condense this five day challenge into a three day one. If you do focus on efficiency, right? Because at the end of the day, especially if you're serving a sophisticated or aware customer, right. They are extremely busy individuals. The likelihood of them attending five days with five P's of training is a lot less slim than attending three days. Right? So what we've seen work best and the challenges that we've incorporated for clients, three day challenges are always superior. Second one, challenge funnels, when supplemented with another main conversion mechanism that can be a book called Organic DM setting, whatever the mechanism is, are the best conversion mechanism to push you past your current revenue ceiling. Now don't get me wrong, you shouldn't run challenge funnels frequently, like once every quarter is enough. But if you are at a revenue ceiling with your online education business or are looking for a huge uptrend, challenges are superior. And the reason why is because they're exclusive. You put up all of this anticipation and tease for this Grand Slam event. Free day. Join me Free days for this live challenge where I'm going to pull back the curtains on everything I know about XYZ and show you exactly how you can do the same despite these objections. Right? You can build up a lot of anticipation and tease. You can do a lot of organic promos through Instagram, Twitter, even LinkedIn to divert traffic to the challenge opt in page. You can even run cold traffic ads and retargeting campaigns to build up all of this anticipation around this challenge that you're not going to do in a very long time. Right? It's very exclusive and that's the reason why they work so effectively now. Challenges, they allow you to lure prospects into your ecosystem in a frictionless way, right? Unlike, let's say other conversion mechanisms where we build up the rapport with them, we then start a DM setting inbox and all these other strategies in place, right? They simply opt into a free challenge where we, where we're promising them a clear dream outcome right now. You can make it frictionless. Of course there are alternative routes you can take with challenge funnels, like getting them to pay on the first step. But what we do, and I'll be showing you this in detail, is we take the free to VIP ticket Route, right? And the Free Day Challenge itself is of course the propaganda tool that increases your audience lead pool, right? Different audiences respond to different conversion mechanisms. Like now, let's say you're the online education business owner and you've been primarily running a DME approach with sellers inside the inbox and running like a vsl, right? Of course, a proportion of your customers may respond positively to that conversion mechanism. But if they're presented with the opportunity to register for free for this exclusive event that you'll never likely do again in a very long time, now they are attracted. They are attracted because there's a different conversion mechanism and they want to receive those value touch points before actually booking a call with you. That's what Challenge allows you to achieve. If someone's sitting three days with you, you're hitting them with so many touch points as ridiculous. So by the time they actually attend the call, by the time they take the action that you want them to take, they are in a perfect headspace. Challenges are a great propaganda tool and of course they also allow you to tap into new audience pools. Different audiences respond to different conversion mechanisms now. And I've also seen things online about people saying, aren't they just a glorified webinars, right? Like, why can't I just run a weekly webinar? Why do I need to do a free to five day challenge? Right? And the reason why, it's simple. Prospects are not only spending one hour, 30 minutes with you with a challenge, they're spending three days plus with you with challenges. You're providing your audience with real transformation. Plus with the amount of micro commitments you create, the people who decide to take X action are a lot more primed, right? This is how we achieved 70 to 80% sharp rates and 55% closing rates on a 6.4k offer. This is what I'm going to be showing you exactly in just a moment. So stick with me. I'm going to be showing you exactly how we do these KPIs, because at the end of the day, the Challenge Funnel is a great propaganda tool, right? Every single day is a unique teaching. We're getting people to make micro commitments, we're getting people to do homework, we're getting people to reply to emails, we're getting people to attend live masterclass guests that we're running inside the Challenge Funnels, right? We're hitting them with so many touch points, that's ridiculous. So by the time they take X action, then a perfect headspace, they're tending a call, ready to buy Right. Because of these propaganda touch points beforehand. Now, your challenge structure is the most important. Rush it and you won't collect cash. Put 100% of attention and effort into each day and you will collect cash now. Now, before we went live, we also worked closely with our client, who I'm not going to be disclosing, to not only ensure he's comfortable with live presentation, tonality, charisma, answering the questions, Q and A, et cetera, but to also ensure the challenge follows a chronological order to audience's success. And this is what I mean by this. Your challenge has to be chronologically structured. For example, on day one, you could teach them how to craft their offer, develop the right mindset, ready for success on day two. When of course they know what they're offering and when they've got their mindset developed, then you could teach them how to sign clients. Then on day three, you can teach how to close the clients and onboard them. It has to be chronological for retention and open loops, Right. If every single day is chronologically structured, they know that to achieve this outcome they need to attend day one, day two and day three. They're a lot more likely to retain with you and actually attend the entire challenge. Right. So ensure that your challenge is chronologically structured on every single day. This client, of course, this exact challenge funnel, we ensure that the day one, day two and day three is, it's so streamlined to see the outcome you needed to attend day one, day two and day three. The moment we also deliveries done, we on day three of course made it the most important day, right? The most important teaching. And without that teaching, you truly can't see the success, right? It's the most important one. So we're leaving that to the end day. So of course the retention is maximized. So with this as well also collected intent on day two of the three day challenge. As we understood that drop offs are bound to happen. So here's how we structured the funnel. Rather than of course getting the financial transactional relationship on the front end, which we can test in the future, we divert all traffic to a free opt in page. And the free opt in page was relatively enough. Like we had a VSO embedded, we were telling the story fascinations, the consequences of not taking action, how your life could look like if you do take action. Just maximize the opt in rate, right? Maximize the opt in rate and just build up as many credibility touch points as possible. Free opt in so we minimize the friction on the front end. But then when someone opted in, they were presented with an optional VIP upgrade ticket which we sold for $99. And this VIP upgrade ticket included a crash course, access to all replays, access to a community, and also free software access for 30 days for our client SaaS. Right. We were offer stacking the hell out of it. And the entire purpose of this VIP upgrade ticket is of course to collect cash. Don't get me wrong, like we were collecting a decent amount of cash with this VIP upgrade ticket. But it also acts as a commitment tool on weeks where with webinars, for example, right. On weeks where our take rates for the order bumps were high. The conversion rates during live Webby was also high because of course the easiest customer that you always sell to is the one that's already bought from you. Right? So we always make the VIP upgrade tickets mandatory. If someone did by chance say no to this, we presented them with a downsell which was in pop up format that sold them the same ticket, same offer components for $67. Right. This was just to collect the cash, self liquidate some of the ad spend for the retargeting and of course, and of course get those transaction relationships. When they worked their way down the funnel, they were then redirected to a thank you page with propaganda systems in place. And these propaganda systems we of course had a visa with next steps we had, here's what to do next. Checklist, micro commitments. Keep your eyes, your eyes peeled, right? When you perfect your thank you page, it's a great show up booster because then you're setting the right expectations, you're building up the curiosity, you're telling the story, you're mentioning the benefits and you're letting them know. It's like, listen, I haven't done this in a long time and I likely won't ever do it for a long time. So if you want to ensure that you attend each day of the challenge so you can work your way towards achieving this dream outcome, please do these things for me. Right? We're kind of building up that curiosity and I open you to get them to commit regardless. And then on day two, on day one, sorry, we're, we walked over the fundamentals and taught them. The main lesson on day one is probably the most important because it sets the perfect foundation for the upcoming days. If on day one your tonality is all over the place, you're not charismatic, or you start with like a yoga lesson, people aren't going to feel the incline to attend day two and three, but you of course make the pitches, right? So day one is of course an Important one, you need to ensure that people set their micro commitments inside that you're actually teaching something valuable so they attend day two, right? So on day two, what we done, we taught the second lesson of course, needed to see success with this vehicle and we also brought on an exclusive guest life, a successful student from the program who was vetted in a teaching. Right Then what we done, because we had this system in place, this exclusive guest, right? This allowed us to achieve was create open loops after day one or even during day one, right? When we finished the lessons during day one at the end was like okay, now of course this was a massively value packed day one of the challenge. Just to let you know, tomorrow we're bringing on this name who's going to show you exactly how to do xyz. He went through my program and listened. The results that he got was absolutely amazing. Make sure you join day two as he's also conducting the live Q and A for you. Right, this is what I mentioned about those retention systems, those open loop systems. The fact that after day one we mentioned that this exclusive guest is coming on now, the prospects in different headspace, they're like, oh my God, I want to see how this student was able to achieve this outcome. I've got some questions I want to ask him, right? We're creating an open loop and that's why drop offs from day one to day two, they weren't severe because we created those open loops and then we also implemented homework systems which I'll walk over in just a few minutes. On day two we also soft pitched intent. So midway through the presentation we had a soft pitch to get these people to fill in a type form, right? We didn't get to book a call, completed payment, nothing. It was just a type form with the TO CV potentially qualify for XYZ framing. So midway through day two we had a Typeform submission with of course the headline on the CANVA presentation. And if you're on day two, you watched this far and if you want to discover and if you want to see if you potentially qualify for this name to hold your hand for the entire process so you can achieve this outcome in half the time, fill in the type form qualification below and we'll see if you are a right fit for us. Right, we are soft pitching these people because what I will show you in just a moment, we were using all of these Typeform submissions to invite these warm intent people into a private zoom meeting where we further assented them. Now on day three we taught the final Lesson, of course, the most important one, and pitch for the final time. So here the pitch, unlike day two, it was a lot more scarcity driven, a lot more urgency driven. Of course, because of the final day, we need those Typeform submissions. Typform submissions, right? So our client on day three, for 10 to 15 minutes only, he was also conducting a live Q and A for the people. And when he was answering the questions, he would link back the answers and the questions that these people were asking back to the Typeform. Right? To get to fill in the Typeform. Because what, as I said before, when we were pitching, we were collecting Typeform intent with the completely short type form to see if you potentially qualify for xyz. Right. We later on use these Typeform submissions. These are high intent people who let us know that they're making X amount of money, that they're from our dream location, et cetera. Right. We used these and invited these customers into a private zoom meeting with where they were able to personally connect with the face of the brand and where we later on pitch book a call. Right. The KPIs were ridiculous, by the way. It's like now think of the customer journey, right? Someone's attended three days, they filled in the type form and then now they're invited to a zoom Q and A. Like an exclusive one with a Facebook brand. It's exclusive. They're eager to get inside. And when the client pitches, book or call inside, the extension rates are ridiculous, mainly because of the propaganda touch points. Right? So that's how we structured the free challenge funnel. Now what went right with this? Our opt in rates were above expected, which was good. We were achieving consistent 45% opt in rates for the free day challenge. Right. Of course it's because of the free opt in, but it's also because of the structure of our challenge page. Now, despite it being a free opt in challenge funnel, we were attracting buying leads into the ecosystem. People were redeeming the VIP upgrade ticket, which was a good sign, meaning that we had front end systems established. Right. Our content was speaking to the right people, our ads were pulling in the right audience pools because they were of course redeeming the VIP upgrade ticket. Right. Our retention rates didn't drastically drop on each day. Why? We created open loops at the end of the day. We got people to make micro commitments after each day. This is completing homework, replying to the email, coming prepared for next day with your biggest takeaways, etc. Right. If someone thinks, if someone assumes that they're making These commitments for their success, they're more likely to attend the rest of the day. So ensure that you make as many micro commitments as possible. Now the third one, we ensured that the challenge followed a chronological order of success. Right. You can't just attend one because otherwise you won't know day two and day three. It's like a three step process to achieve this outcome. You can't only attend day two, you also need to attend day one and day three. Right. All of them pulled into each other and that's why the retention rates didn't drastically drop. Shop rates were also solid. The reason why, of course we had that thank you page propaganda systems in place. Read a vsl, the checklist, here's your next steps. The importance of actually attending each day, et cetera. We had SMS is dripping crazy emails as well. Dripping like crazy and as walked over open loops and curiosity benefits stacking in all our messaging people. This is another thing that went, right. People were thanking the face of the brand for conducting a sign that we were focused on value rather than solely selling them. Right. I'm sure you've attended these webinars or challenges where you get indication like there's no value, there's no substance, like I'm expecting the pitch to come as soon as possible. Right. But with this challenge we actually ensured that we were providing the people with value and that they can actually see some sort of result from the challenge. Right. And that makes expansion easier because when you perfect the value, it's like the law of reciprocity. Right. It's like when you give them so much things for free, they're going to feel some sort of reciprocation to later on ascend or bind to what you're offering. Right. What went wrong? There were technical complexities. During day three, we were struggling to join the Zoom Room where we made the pitch. And, and this was because a mistake of ours. We set the Zoom Room settings that the client has to manually allow the people inside. Right. But it's, it's complex because like now when he's preparing the picture book or call and he's got a presentation live, he's still answering a few questions and answering team members. He now needs to manually allow all the people inside. Right. Did this, this, this did result in some people dropping off which was a bottleneck. It wasn't drastic. Like it wasn't like we missed out $100,000 of dollars, but it was a complexity which did minimize our revenue slightly. The second thing that went wrong, recouping systems didn't do as well as we had expected. Now of course we had those replay emails going live. We had the SMS is going live, setters and dollars reaching out to these leads. And even though cash was collected even 10 to 14 days after the challenge is I believe that the systems should have been a lot more superior. We could have unveiled lower ticket offers or even supplementary conversion mechanisms that got them to eventually buy. But is of course like a lesson for the future challenge that we run, right? Is because someone attends the challenge, they're not always going to buy like let's say five days after the challenge, right? They are in the ecosystem, they've attended every single day of your challenge but they may be ready to buy like let's say a month from now. So you do need those recouping systems in place through email, SMS setting, dialing, community hosting, whatever the mechanism is to of course get them to eventually buy. Now we didn't do as much paid as we should have. As I mentioned we did explore retargeting and it did increase our registrant room, but we should have scaled it a little more aggressively with cold traffic. And the reason why we didn't is because we started a promo period a bit late. We started seven days before the challenge. We should have maybe done a paid ads 10 to 12 days before the challenge. But once again another thing for the future challenge that we run now. Challenge funnel lessons. The most important one, you attract a good challenge lead with great positioning and messaging on the front end. This is applicable by the way with both organic and paid. And this feeds into a tweet that I recently tweeted. It should load any moment now. It's all about positioning and messaging to attract the right type of audience into your ecosystem. Trust me guys. LOL. Don't be fooled by these lifestyle entertainers who have 500,000 followers on a gram. I've seen micro influencers speaking directly. Sophisticated ICP 20k followers or less make more Denise entertainers because they're optimizing them for intent rather than entertainment. Your messaging positioning on the front end dictates the customers you get on the back end. Stop optimizing for engagement and virality. Begin optimizing for high intent buyers right now with this challenge. Of course we were heavily focused on IG organic and other organic mediums and the content that we were producing was just speaking to our clear ICP like we were disqualifying. We were just telling cool stories that spoke to our clear ICP and they were of sophisticated background. We were serving people that were making 100k plus year with their corporate jobs. Right? But you attract a good challenge lead with great positioning and messaging on the front end. Now the second principle, the challenge game is all about retention. As I've mentioned numerous times throughout this presentation, right after each day create open loops like we're bringing on this exclusive guest tomorrow you're going to discover exactly how to do XYZ et cetera. The more open loops you create, the better. Right? But you should also be getting people to make micro commitments complete in homework after each day, get them to apply their biggest takeaway through email, get them to come prepared for the next day when inside a chat we're going to get a bunch of intent from the value that people are receiving, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Right? Also bringing on exclusive guests as I referred to it gets people excited because now character that enters the ecosystem where they can get a top questions answered. We brought on one exclusive guest for this. You can even do like a lot more like even if it's for a 15 minute Q&A. And then you can create those all loops with the guests that you're bringing on our exclusive guests for free day challenges are superior. Now please. You should also ensure maximum congruency with your sales team for maximum conversions. Your sales team and whoever's responsible for the sales department should be getting setters dial reach out to high intent leads who haven't taken action. Right? We had our sales team reach out to VIP upgrades. They've watched at least one full day. If they've watched 85% of the entire challenge, they've watched every day but they didn't take action, et cetera. You can easily explore a CSV file of these registrants for webinar jam and then they've got higher intent so by the time you dial them there's no objections or resistance. Right? They've watched it. You've built up these elements with them. The next step, biblical, right? Something may just come up. They may have got busy, their child may have said something, they forgot the biblical, right. They need to be reminded about the action to take. Now there's a lot of money in the aftermath of your challenge. You need more emails, more sms, more dialing, more follow up sequence. Even consider a summary live training, right? You could even reload it and do a one hour live training quickly summarizing the key takeaways. Right? Hit that to all non attendees, people that may have only attended one day and then at the end of that you do a Q and A get into book of goal, right? There's so many recruiting systems that you can implement, but there is a lot of money in the aftermath of your challenge and you need to capitalize now. Another thing that you can do, another cool lesson is celebrate your wins publicly to activate FOMO and get more people to join. Right? Of course you're pushing a three day challenge, right? But some people may register during day two or day three, right? And it's not the biggest end of the world, but you can get a lot more people attending the challenge even on day two and day three. So ensure to activate this FOMO and to get more people to join is repost stories of people who tagged you, right? It's like what we've done with this challenge on the page when someone opted in is like, of course during any day of the challenge, like tag me on Instagram with your biggest takeaway and then I'll repost it, right? This just build up a lot of FOMO for the people who are following you and dating to want to attend, right? Even if they see, let's say a dozen of screenshots of people attending the challenge formos have been activated, right? They're more likely to actually register and maybe even eventually take action that you want them to, right? Post videos of you conducting your training before you go live on day one, day two, day three, post a quick Instagram video of you. Hey, we're just minutes away from now, my love training. Here's what we're going to discuss. Join now if you're not already subscribed, right? Videos, post pictures of the comments you're getting inside of Webinar Jam. Another social proof play that you can implement to inject this FOMO to make more cash. More fomo, more beliefs, more money. Right? Now, the following principle. A person who does the homework but watches replays is worth more than someone who just shows up live but doesn't implement. Design your challenge funnel for action. Not just eyeballs, micro commitments, micro commitments, micro commitments, replies to emails, homeworks. The more engaged someone is, the more likely they are to take action that you want, right? Just maximize that engagement with your attendees. Now the final principle. Your pitch should not be a sales letter. They already spent a decent amount of time with you. It should be the next logical step to take and frame similarly to of course out there, right? You don't want to overwhelm them with other stacks and fascinations and story and crossroads close and all of these other sales mechanisms, right? They've already attended three days with you. And you've built up these credibility touch points with them. They know that you're the savior to their problems. They just need the next logical step. So make it as frictionless as possible. With our one, it was really frictionless. Fill in this type form to see if you potentially qualify for XYZ and join the zoom in. Right? Very frictionless. So yeah, that's the base of the video.
