A Speech in Shorashim (Roots) Florida

Rabbi Yosef Mizrahi argues that only a tiny fraction of the world's 15 million Jews live by Torah because of widespread ignorance. He contends that true observance requires 100% knowledge, not belief, and traces the human search for purpose back to Abraham and the Creator. The talk calls listeners to study Torah and bring others to Judaism.

Good evening. Good evening. I'm very honored to be here in Shawashim, in Florida, by Avery and Gail Asadiq. If I ask you a question, why do you think from 15 million Jews that lives in the world, the whole world is 15 million approximately, Even though we started the same generation like the Chinese people 4,200 years ago, we should have been almost double than the Chinese. There are 2 billion and they have restriction on birth. They only allow one kid per family. We never had restriction on birth, so we should have been 3 billion Jews minimum. And in reality, we're not even 1% of 1% of what we should have been. And now after all of that, when we have now approximately 50 million Jews in the whole world, maybe 5, 6 million here in America, 7, 8 million in Israel, and in Europe another million, South America, that's it, just about it. So the question is, how many of them are living life of Torah and mitzvot? How many Jews keep Shabbat, keep Torah, learn Torah from 15 million? What's your guess? What do you think? How many? 2 million? Less than 1 million? Maximum 20%. Maximum. If we are, you know, optimistic, 3 million in the whole world. What happened to the 12 million? Many of them never saw the Torah once in their life face to face. They don't even know how it looks. Almost all of them never opened once in their life Gemara. Many of them do not even know there's such a day, Shabbat. They hear about it here and there, but they have no idea what it is. Some of them don't even know what Yom Kippur is. So the question that I have, you know, every problem in life has a cause to the problem. Right? There are two ways to handle it. One is to handle the symptoms, and you will have to do it forever. You never get to the root of the problem. And then the right way to fix it is to go to the root of the problem, find, find the source, and fix it from the root. So the question is, in order for us to understand what happened to these 12 million, which probably some of you are descendants of these 12 million. So the question that I ask, and maybe the question will be more clear after I will explain to you that until 220 years ago, there was almost impossible to find one Jew in a world that is not religious. Until Moses Mendelssohn, 220 years ago, by now maybe 1925. Everybody in every country, almost everyone was religious. You couldn't find Jews without yarmulke or turban or hats. Everyone was religious. There was no such thing Jews eating non-kosher food. There was no such thing Jews going to universities. No one until 220 years ago, no one dared. To go to learn in a place that is not a yeshiva. So since we got the Torah until 220 years ago, for 3,100 years, all Jews in the world— of course there's always some exception to the rule— but almost everyone was religious. Even I, when I was a child, even the secular people in Israel had much more tradition than today. Today. And there's a lot of respect. Secular Jews did not dare to do some of the things they do today. It was not so bad. The question that I have is, what do you think happened? That's question number one. I will ask you one more question, then I'll connect it. Question number two, after we see now But that's the situation. I would like to ask you, what do you think is the biggest enemy of the human being in his life? The biggest danger? What do you think? No, what do you think? Obviously you can tell me millions of things, but I'm looking for the main one. That is above everything? Freedom. The answer is ignorance. Lack of knowledge is the most dangerous thing in the life of a person. I'm going to give you two examples. Let's say a person doesn't know computers. He gets a computer and he has to set I'm gonna send now 1,000 emails. He didn't know that he can check 1,000 names and send one time and everybody gets it. He didn't know. He's an ignorant person in computers. So he typed 3 pages, he typed 3 pages, send it to one person. Started to type again for 3 hours, send it to another person. Type, send. Type, 10 emails. It takes all day to type an email, send it, type it again, send it. It will take him weeks instead of 2-3 hours. It will take him a month from morning to night. That's only a tiny problem. He doesn't know computers. Let's talk about accounting. I know of someone, he has a very successful company. The government changed one law. For that year. His accountant was not updated. He checked the wrong box in the tax return of the company, and this Jew lost $2 million. One millimeter below, he checked the wrong box. $2 million damage. Two houses here in Florida went to the garbage for the accountant not knowing one tiny detail. It could have been $20 million depending on the size of the company. So there are many, many examples in life. Sometimes people sit 30 years in prison because of one tiny mistake their lawyer made, not knowing if he could have done that or if he could have challenged something, his client would go free. That tiny mistake made someone sit 30 years and suffer from morning to night. Hell on earth for one tiny mistake. All the examples I gave you are examples from life which I'm sure you heard about similar cases. Drugs. Drugs is a very big problem in America. Every year between 100,000 and 200,000 people die on the book. But it's probably a million off the book. Because many people that died in places, their family doesn't want people to know they died from drugs. So they say heart attack, they write other things, COVID. How many teenagers died from drugs? Non-stop funerals. The rehabs are packed and they barely save anyone. What caused teenagers to go into that? Not because they're stupid. Some of them are genius in computer, developing apps, very good in school. They used to be. Ignorance. If they would know all the risk and how they're going to end, for million-dollar cash, they would never touch drugs even one time in their life. If they would see 10,000 cases of people who started where they are in a nice video that shows the the results of it, no one would dare to touch it even if he was very depressed because the loss is a billion times more than the gain. That's a very stupid move. Ignorance causes people to die. All of what I said obviously are very severe, but none of it comes even near the main problem in life. What could be more important to the human being, a Jew or non-Jew, to live his entire life, 70, 80 years, without knowing the purpose of his life? Do you know a bigger tragedy than this? The Creator of the world created you, he put your soul into your body, and he put you here for 70, 80, 90 years and one time in your life you did not find out what's your purpose. You don't know. You look at yourself as a chimpanzee, monkey. Eat, enjoy, jump to the water, eat some bananas, enjoy life. In Hebrew we have a saying, "Achol veshato kimachar namut." Eat and drink because tomorrow we're going to die. Meaning enjoy the moment. You know how many Jews living like that? Just to enjoy the moment. Most of the world is like that. How many smart people you know that stop in the middle of their life to think, what am I doing here? Who made me? Why he made me the way I am? Why? I mean, I look like a monkey, my DNA is 99% the same. We have mutual organs, but obviously I'm not a monkey. I'm different than a monkey. I'm intelligent. I have spirituality in me. My values are different. So what is the purpose of life? There was one individual that about 3,500 years ago started to ask these questions. His name was Abraham. Or Ibrahim or Abraham, same person, all three religions admire him. He started to think, there's so many people around me, everyone looks for a different God. They worship different idols, they have all kinds of fake beliefs. Everybody lives in mistake. I don't want to burn my life and live in a lie. I have to find the purpose. The difference between Abraham and us is that he didn't have any writings. There's no books, no yeshivas, no place to learn anything. He had to investigate with his own mind to try to find the purpose. We have it all served on a gold platter. Just open the books and it's all there. Because once we got the Torah, we know the purpose. But he was 200 years before the Torah. But he had a good sharp head. He started to analyze what's going on. I'm gonna tell you exactly what went through his mind. One detail after the other. First question he asked: if there is a creation, the way the world is with fruits, vegetables, oxygen, water, whatever we need we have, Wood, trees, everything designed beautiful. The human being, the brain, ligaments, muscles, stomach. It's such a system, very sophisticated. Has to be that there is a creator. Nothing is made by itself. In order for you to create something, if you see a design, that means there was a designer. You see a picture, someone painted it. See a video camera, someone invented it. You see such a beautiful building, there's an architect. Without him, none of it would happen. There's a designer, internal, external, but someone designed it. Everything in life, if you see a creation with a plan, that means there was a planner. So Abraham said, okay, so it has to be a creator that made this world, but it cannot be a person like me. Me, because no human being can create another human being. And no human being can create trees or gold or diamonds in nature. Obviously, a person cannot create such thing. So it has to be a superpower. Where is he? I have to investigate where I can find him. Next question: the more sophisticated the creation is, it indicates about the ability of the creator, right? To make this sand sander, you don't have to be a genius. 1, 2 days in a factory, you learn how to do it. To make a video camera, you need months. To make an airplane, you need years. The more sophisticated is the creation, the more ability the Creator is. Did you ever see something that was ever made by anyone without a purpose? This stand there has a purpose. Chair has a purpose. Camera has a purpose. Light, menorah, has a purpose. Everything has a purpose. You can never find one thing that someone made and you come and ask him, excuse me, Mr. Creator, what is the purpose of your product? I have no idea. Why did you make the car? I don't know. Why did you make a watch? I don't know. Even a cup that worth a penny, This paper glass, paper cup, a penny, has a lot of design in it. In the bottom, this one particularly not, but some of them have lines and all kinds of printing. But you got the point. Can you ask the Creator in China, "Hey, Mr. Bruce Lee, can you tell me please why you made this cup?" "I have no idea. I was bored, so I made 1,000 cups." There's no such thing. Do you get the point? So Abraham Avinu said, okay, so since there is a Creator and He is a superpower and He has unlimited ability and there is no such thing creation without a purpose, so that means this world was made for a purpose. Why the world was made? He started to think from all the species. Who is the most advanced and the most smartest from all the species in the world? The human being. We control the nature, we control the raw material, we do whatever we want with that. So that means everything was made for us. The animals, the cows, the sheep, the chickens, everything was made for me. So now the creator of the world made so many things for me that I'll be able to build myself a home, I'll be able to eat, to wear warm clothes. Is it possible that the Creator of the world bothers so much to make me such a world and such an environment and he will not ever tell me why he made me? That defeats the purpose. That's not logical. Imagine someone comes to my factory and he wants to get accepted to work. And, you know, and the person that is He comes to the job interview and we say to him, I say to him, okay, you are a computer engineer. This is your project. You have to work on this computer. You're gonna make $1,000 a day. We will hire you for 2 months. You have to design for us the most advanced machine. Good luck. But if you fail, you do not wanna mess with us. You're gonna pay big time. Okay, I understand. But what do I have to do? Figure it out yourself. I'm not telling you. Someone that will do such a thing to a new employee is a mental case. Have to put him in a mental house. Who would hire someone and give him a project not telling him what he wants? And plus will give him reward or punishment if he would succeed or fail. None of that makes sense. This is all Avraham Avinu, logical investigation in his head. So that means it has to be that the Creator has to tell me what's my purpose. So now he started to think, maybe my purpose is to enjoy food. It cannot be. Why it cannot be? I could have been a monkey, they also enjoy food. Maybe the purpose is to have more kids. No, it cannot be. I could have been a monkey. Maybe the purpose is to be rich. It cannot be because most people in the world are poor. Maybe the purpose is to watch my health. It cannot be because most people are sick, at least with one sickness. So it cannot be. Maybe the purpose is to be smart. Cannot be, most people are dumb. So no matter how you think about it, Any possibility that Abraham Avinu came up with, he could have been a monkey or an eagle. So he ran out of options. No options. There's no secular answer to this question, what's the purpose of life? That's why you cannot find one secular person in the whole world that knows the purpose of life. Jews and non-Jews. Try me. Go ask thousands of them on the street in Tel Aviv, in New York, Miami. What do you live for? What's the purpose of life? I'm going to tell you in advance all the answers. One, to enjoy life. Two, to be healthy. Three, to get married and have children. Four, to succeed financially. That's more or less the most— Five, to be educated. But no one will tell you why. What does it mean to be educated? What does it mean to be wealthy? That's the purpose of life, to gain money in a bank? Nobody has any idea. In Israel, you're gonna hear more stupid answers such as to be a soccer player. That's the purpose of life. Or to be a mother or a movie star. Probably in America they have similar answers. But not one secular person in the world can answer what's the answer to the purpose of life. To this question, what's the purpose of life? No one knows. The only people that knows the purpose of life are people that sits on their Torah. Nobody else has any idea what's the purpose of life. Ask any teenager in America, what's the goal of your life? The answer, to be on my smartphone nonstop. I cannot leave it for 20 seconds, even in the middle of a lecture. Why? My smartphone is my life. Take it away from me and I die. There's one teenager that they want to give him suspension from his smartphone for one day. You have to see what a monster came out of him. If they wouldn't give him back the phone, he would burn the building. That's his purpose. All day to sit and look at the screen. When I was in China, I had to take a train. There were a million Chinese on that train. There's not one of them without phone. I looked around, all the Chinese, even people in their 70s, Chinese, all of them attached to the screen. Believe me, if you would walk over there with the weirdest thing, not one person would notice it. They can't take off their face from the screen. Why? What else do they have in life? Nothing else. So the answer is, Rabotai, nobody knows what he lives for. Someone who doesn't know the purpose of life, what chance does he have to fulfill his mission in life? The answer is zero. Zero. That's why only very few people that lives in this world make it, because they are the only one who has the knowledge. Don't get me wrong, knowing what's the purpose of life, there's no guarantee you'll succeed fulfilling the purpose. How many people are religious but they still make horrible mistakes in their life and mess it up? There are people like this. Conclusion from everything I told you about Thai, everything I told you, you don't need to be religious to know. Abraham, It was before religion, before the Torah was given. He came to this conclusion on his own. That's why the Torah calls him Avraham Haivri. Ivri means ever, one side. He's in one side of the world and everybody else is in the other side of the world. Only one person is searching, where are you, the Creator? Where are you? Talk to me. Tell me what I have to do here. I don't want to live like another animal. I want to know why you made all of that for me. I don't want to be like this guy, bow down to a tree, or this one made a statue and bow down to the statue, or everyone has a different god to worship. Some people bow down to the stars, to the sun. I'm not that stupid. I want to know what's going on over here. So when HaKadosh Baruch Hu, the Creator of the world, saw that finally one normal human being is using his head that I gave him, and searching for truth, I will help him out. But we learned from the relationship between God and Abraham that in order for a person to gain knowledge, what's the purpose of life, he has to pass some tests before. It doesn't come on a gold platter. It's not that easy. After Hashem tested Abraham with 10 major tests, That's when he gave him the stamp. Now I know you're a God-fearing person, and I make a covenant with you, and then with his son and his grandson, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And that was the foundation and the preparation to receive the book of God to the chosen people. When we became officially Jewish? In Mount Sinai. Thanks to who? Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. That God loved them. They were great righteous people, used their head to search for the truth always. And that's when he made them a promise that their children are going to get the book, the most important book in history of the world. And that's what happened in the last Shabbat when we read Parashat Yitro. HaKadosh Baruch Hu came down on a mountain in front of more than 3 million people in the a live event and gave us the Torah that you see now in every synagogue you go in the world, same Torah. Baruch Hashem, by the Jewish people, there are not many, many different books. Muslims, they have hundreds of different Korans. Christians have more than 200,000 New Testaments. Why? Because when the people used to copy it manually, they were not careful, they made a lot of mistakes. The Torah also is copied manually, but because there is such a punishment if you modify the Torah, nobody is, nobody is there to take that risk. To modify the book of God, the Creator of the world, if you do it on purpose, it's death penalty. If you do it accidental, it's not death penalty, but it's, you are reckless. Still a crime. Why are you not careful? Why you didn't check yourself 4 or 5 times? Jews were very careful. That's why everywhere you go you have the Torah. Everywhere you go it's the same Torah. Muhammad, the prophet of the Muslims, had 4 wives. Each one of them had a different Quran already in his lifetime. 4 different Qurans. I don't have to tell you what happened 1400 years later. That's very good. So to conclude, Rabotai, we have one thing we have to understand. Today you have more than 80,000 religions and cults in the world. More than 80,000. We know maybe 10 of them, barely. But there are so many. If you go in and you put the name of all the religions and cults in the world, you know the list is so long that if you hold your hand on the arrow The names would run and run and run and run all day. 80,000 names. The 3 major religions are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Those are the famous ones. Even though Jews are only 50 million and Buddhists are 600 million. Buddhism. But what kind of a religion is Buddhism? There's one person named Buddha 2,400 years ago and he came and he said that he saw the light. He had an enlightenment. How many people saw it? No one. Based on the story of Buddha, now we have 600 million people follow Buddhism. Hinduism, I don't even want to get to it. It's a disaster. They take people, once they die, and turn them into gods. And there are so many different beliefs over there. It's below ridiculous. But the three religions, Judaism, Islam, and Quran, and Christianity— Christianity and Islam is supposedly a continuation of Judaism. The interesting part is that Muslims and Christians never tried to deny the truth of Judaism. Muslims, in the Quran, there are many, many parts discuss the Torah, the Exodus of Egypt. Pharaoh did not want the Jews to go out of Egypt. God saved them, brought them to Israel. It's all in the Quran. They call themselves Ibrahim, Ismail, Yusuf, Dawud. This is Abraham, Yosef, David, Ishmael. This is all Jewish names. In the New Testament, it's continuing from the story of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and describe also that the Jews got to Mount Sinai. Who can tell me how we know in less than 5 minutes, maybe 2 minutes, that a religion is fake? It's not divine. Only one person. How do we know in 2 minutes? Nobody wants to predict. What you say is true. What you say is true. What you say is true, but it creates 50% doubt. There is no proof that the religion is fake just because one person gave it. But there is a 50% doubt because there's no witnesses. It's his story against our belief. It either happened or didn't. There's no way to prove, which is ridiculous. Who wants to dedicate his life to a story of one person that nobody ever witnessed and live according to his nonsense? That's already ridiculous. But to say for sure it's a mistake or fake, we can't. But when can we know for sure that the religion is fake? Contradiction. It's written by men. Evidence with no changes. Huh? You have evidence that doesn't get changed. I'm still waiting for the answer. It's easy. The answer is very simple. You find one mistake, human error in a book, and then you know it's not from God. One human error. I'll give you an example. In the Quran, which they copy from the Torah and from the Christianity that came before, it's written that Haman and Pharaoh had a meeting. How to stop the God of the Jews. There's only one problem. Haman was almost 1,000 years after Pharaoh. Maybe they met in hell, but they didn't meet on earth. So that's a very simple mistake. What kind of a God doesn't know that Haman and Pharaoh could never meet? But I have a better mistake there. According to the Quran, do you know who the uncle of JC? JC Penney one day came and he said to his rabbi, Rabbi Yehoshua ben Farkia, who was learning in yeshiva, he said to the rabbi, "Rabbi, you see the pretty girls over there?" From all the people in the world, who he wants to talk about the pretty girls to his rosh yeshiva? That was JC. The rabbi said to him, "You learn in my yeshiva and that's what you care about, to look at girls on the street?" You are suspended. He let him go for a break. What did he do? He made himself a cult on the street. Took some Jews, some goyim, started to teach them. That's the story of the beginning of Christianity. But he never started Christianity. He died and only 70 years later people started to tell fairy tales about him. Who according to the Quran is his uncle? Moshe Rabbeinu. Did you ever see more ridiculous mistake? Moshe lived 3,400 years ago. JC lived 2,000 years ago. According to the Quran, Moshe, Aaron, and Miriam are the family of JC. How did they make that mistake? They saw in the New Testament of the Christians that the mother of Jesus' name is Miriam. Miriam and Joseph, Jose and Maria, Joseph and Mary. So they made a mistake between the two Miriams. Miriam, the sister of Moshe and Aharon, according to the Quran, is the mother of Jesus. So the one that wrote the Quran, his knowledge in religion was —over 4-year-old child. Do you know how many mistakes you have in the Quran? By the way, if you take a million Arabs and show them all the mistakes in the Quran and show them that according to the Quran there's no question that Israel belongs to the Jews, one out of a million, I would— I doubt very much that will give it up. We don't care about logic, we don't care about facts, we are believers. You talk against our religion, we'll kill you. Doesn't matter you show them evidence, doesn't matter. We are going with faith. In the New Testament, it says that Jacob went to Egypt with 75 people, but in the Torah that they admit that is the book of God, it says 70. What happened to God? He forgot? He forgot how many people really went to Egypt? There are so many mistakes in those books. If you watch my film Torah and Science, after 10 minutes you get the point. But we are not here to talk about the fake religions. The reason I told you that is for you to see the difference. When you open the Torah, the Torah is full of prophecies. Many of the prophecies that the Torah spoke about are to our days. The Torah gave prophecies that are against all odds. Nobody can ever imagine that things like this can even happen, that the Jews will come and enter Israel. There will be 7 nations over there with massive army, and God said, I'm gonna kick them out of the land and I will give you the land. Who can promise such a thing? So the major difference between the Torah and all the fake religions, that they all started with the story of one person and nobody ever saw any witness, and the Torah started with more than 3 million witnesses. The people that received the book heard the voice of God speaking to Moshe, so you could never fake that God actually gave it. But the best part is that 90% of the Torah speaks about who? About the people that received the Torah. All the miracles that happened to them. So me coming to you today to Florida, bringing a book with me. Ladies and gentlemen, there's no ladies, gentlemen and gentlemen. I am the messenger of God. 'He gave me this book to give it to you. You must listen to me. Don't play games. It's for your own good. Read it, learn it carefully. If you have questions, come to me, but from now on, I'm your prophet.' So all of you are nice people. You want to give me a chance. You open the book, and what does it say over there? 'I am the god of the community of Fort Lauderdale. I brought you from Japan to Florida. I bought each one of you a Ferrari. I gave you a Rolex watch. I gave you a beautiful home in Florida. I filled up your bank account with a million dollars each. I built you this beautiful building with a gym upstairs. And I opened the ocean, all of you went through. I'm giving you bread falling every day, tastes like sushi, pizza, steaks. All of you read now the book. You're looking at the rabbi and say, Rabbi, where did you find this lunatic from? How can you invite him to talk? What is this crazy thing? He's not normal. He said that he did all these things for us. Did it really happen to us? Not one of the things happened. He's hallucinating. Let's say everything I say happened except one detail. Everything is true, but the million dollars in the account you didn't get. Right away you will tell me, if it's from God, God doesn't make mistakes. So a lot of the things you say is true, but we never got the money. When Moshe gives them the book and they see more than 100 miracles mentioned there, all of the miracles happen to them. Can I fake that I made you miracles if it never happened to you? Anyone of you would listen to me another minute? Would I be that stupid to come to 3 million people and tell them I took you out of Egypt, I released you from slavery, I split the ocean for you? I'm giving you money, you have water, I killed all your enemies. They would say to me, excuse me, none of that happened to us. The fact that everyone agreed to accept the Torah and became followers of the truth of the Torah leaves no doubt that everything that's written over there actually happened to them 100%. And from then on, it went from father to son tradition. Goemaarshoof tradition. Vinnie has a Christmas tree. His son Tony also has a Christmas tree. His grandson Johnny also has a Christmas tree. All the Christmas trees have the same shape. Did you ever see a round white Christmas tree? No, they're all green, pointy. And they put all these gifts there, whatever they put, lights. Did you ever see a boy that has a different Christmas tree? No. Why? It passed from father to son. Everything is father to son, but we have to go to the beginning. The beginning is very simple. Ma'amar Dar Sinai. Something like this never happened to any other nation. And the best proof is that Moshe said to them, all of you I heard the voice of God speaking to me. If one Jew would not hear the voice of God, he would raise his hand. Excuse me, Amir, also. I did not hear any voice. One of the verses in the Torah is Moshe speaks and God answering him with voice. We know there is no extra word in the Torah. The Torah is very cheap with words. Otherwise, it would be from here to Japan, the size of the Torah. So the Torah speaks in a very, very short language. And once there is an extra letter in a verse, the Gemara right away addresses it. Why do you have a Vav here? We could have managed without it. Why you have Et? What does it come to include? Why? We could have managed without that word. Why does it say in the Torah Moshe speaks and God answering him with voice? Why do we need with voice? Bekol. Hashem answer him, who cares how? It's critical. If it would not say bekol, do you know what people would say? All the atheists, they say, you know how it was? Moshe say, hold on, let me see what God say. Okay, I'm listening. Okay, God told me to tell you such and such. And nobody heard anything. I could also pretend, wait, one second, Hashem, what do you say? Okay, hold on. Okay, Hashem just told me to tell you this and this and that. Right away, it's 50% up. Maybe He did speak to me, maybe I made it up. Moshe daber, Moshe speaks, and Hashem answering him with voice. Everybody sees it's real. Not only that, when Hashem came to Moshe and said, I want to send you to Egypt, to take them out, Moshe said, they won't listen to me, they won't believe me that you spoke to me. God should have been very angry. Hashem should have said to Moshe, I don't understand, I'm sending you on a mission and you're arguing with me? You don't trust me that if I send you to them they would listen to you? No, that's not what he said. The answer of Hashem to Moshe was, I am going to I will speak to you in front of them around the mountain, and after that they will believe in you for eternity. Meaning the only reason they'll believe in you is because they heard me and you speaking. It means that if somebody comes and tells a story without proof, you have to be stupid to listen to them. And that dismisses all the fake religions and cults. Because otherwise Hashem should have said to Moshe, if they believe, good. If they don't believe, it's their problem. But that's not what he said. He said, of course they shouldn't believe you. Why should they believe you? They should be stupid? Just because you come and say God spoke to me, they have to believe you? They will only believe you after I speak to you in front of all of them. After that, They must believe in you. By the way, in the Torah, when Hashem refers to us, does he ask us to believe in him or he asks us to know him? There's no place in the Torah that it talks about believing in God. It's written one pasuk, that the Jews believe in Hashem and in Moshe's servant. But every time Hashem comes to the Jewish people, how does he refer to them? "Vidaatem ki ani Hashem." You should know I'm your God. "Lema'an dat kol ame'aretz ki Hashem huah Elokim." "Veyadatayom vashavota elever mecha ki Hashem huah Elokim." Yadata, it's knowledge. Knowledge is 100%. It's not open for mistakes. How do I know that God exists? And he runs the world and he's watching me and he's recording everything I do. How am I supposed to know it? With my 5 senses, I cannot prove he exists. The answer is with common sense. A lot of investigators, they catch the murderers based on evidence in a place. They never saw them, they never touched them, they never smelled them, they never tasted them, and they never heard them. How do they find? They find evidence in a place. The Torah has so much evidence that it could never be written by human being. If you read the Torah once in your life carefully, you know 1 million percent that this book can never ever be written by a human being, only by Hashem. And after you know it, it's much easier to follow it. Even if you're a teenager in Florida and you have a lot of yetzer hara, You can overcome your Yetzer Hara. The reason you can overcome your evil inclination is because it's knowledge, not belief. Believing means not knowing. When you say, "I believe in God," what does it mean, "I believe in God"? I believe 50%. That means I don't believe 50%. If someone says, "I believe in God," how much you believe? I believe 50% of the Torah is from God. That means he just told us that he has 50% doubt. I believe in God 99%. That means he has 1% doubt. 1% doubt already ruins everything. The Torah doesn't say to believe, only to know. There's one place by the Navi Eshaiah that that's what he said. First, that you should know and believe and understand that I'm your God. Meaning, first thing, always knowledge, 100% knowledge. Just like you know you're sitting here and listening to me now. It's knowledge, it's not a belief. After the knowledge comes the faith. I'll give you an example what's the difference. When someone meets you on the street and wants to buy your expensive watch, $30,000 watch, you say, "Okay, I would like to buy it from you," and he gives you a check. Will you give him the watch? If you're dumb, yes. If you're smart, you're not going to give him the watch. What would you say? Wait a week or two, make sure the check clears, then come collect the watch. Why don't you give him the watch right away? Because you don't have faith in him. You don't know who he is. Even though he looks decent, nice tie, he looks like a respectable person, but who knows? There's a lot of crooks out there. But if it's someone that already gave you until today 10,000 checks, much, much bigger amounts, and all of them clear, now you don't worry that much. 'Cause you know that right now the check is good. What if the check is certified from the White House? You wouldn't worry. What happens if he gives you cash? Even better. Bottom line, the level of faith keeps going higher and higher. 70, 80%, 90%. The higher it goes, the easier it is to be religious. Once it reaches 100% knowledge, V'datem Kiyani Hashem, it's supposed to be a lot easier. Do you know the distance between 0 to 99.9% is shorter than the distance between 99.9 to 100? You know why? Because as long as you go from 0 to 99.9, you're still in the category of a believer. Just believe it. Once it becomes knowledge, it changes everything. Remember what science says: believing means not knowing. I believe he's my son. Everybody understands that you have a doubt. You don't say about your son, I believe it's my son, I know it is. If you say I believe it's my son, everybody knows, ooh, what a story we have over here. If scientists say, we believe that next month that's what's going to happen to that star, we believe, maybe yes, maybe not. If they say, we know, we measure, we know, that's a different story. The language knowledge and believing is two different things. So I would like to conclude, Rabotai. After we know there is a Creator and He gave us the Torah in a public event and hundreds of miracles in the Torah and hundreds of prophecies in the Torah, and every one of those prophecies are against human logic. The chance that prophecies like this will happen, no human being can anticipate such a thing. After we see that Hashem already proved himself 3,300 years every second, nonstop to us, how is it possible that some of us that knows about it still committing sins? The answer to that is that Hashem made us Yetzer Hara. Someone said that the Yetzer Hara is the biggest enemy of a person. The answer is incorrect. Without the Yetzer Hara, you would not earn anything. If I give you a job in my store and I say you can make $100 a day, but you can also make $1,000 a day. If you sit and type on a computer, I'll pay you $100. If you pick up heavy bags and bring them upstairs all day, you're gonna get $1,000. The heavy bags are your enemies or are your best friends? Your best friends, because they got you extra $900 every day. They made you wealthy. Looking at them, at the obstacle as an enemy, it's a big mistake. It's only an enemy when there's no reward. But in the Torah, there is no such thing doing something for Hashem and not getting a reward. And the last thing, when we finish the last minute, you know, many times you hear that the human being has a free will, right? Ki rachov shiit. Every speaker will tell you the same thing. Adam yashlo ki rachov shiit. Hashem made us different than the animals. The animals live by instincts. And we live with a free will. I have one correction to make about it. We definitely have a will, we have bechira, but it's never been free. It's never ever been free even for one second since Hashem created the world. Bechira, chofshit, means come tomorrow to work for me, I'm gonna pay you $20 an hour. If you come, you make money. You don't come, you stay in your bed. You remain in the same situation. That's called free will. Now the second scenario. If you come tomorrow to work, you're gonna make $20 an hour. If you don't come, you lose $20 an hour. I get it out of your account. Now you wake up in the morning with the first scenario. It's rainy, cold, you're lazy, you don't want to get out of bed. You're thinking, Chaval, I could make 200 bucks today if I go. Ah, I don't care, I stay in bed. That's called chinach of shit. What did you lose? Nothing. You just didn't gain, but you stay in the same position. There's no such thing in the whole Torah. There's no such thing. The Torah always said, if you follow my mitzvot, this is what I'm gonna give you. And if you ignore them or do the opposite, that's what you're going to get. There's a positive side and a negative side. Why did Hashem give punishments in the Torah? Why is he so strict? Why, when he gave us the Torah in Mount Sinai, it had to be so scary that everyone died from fear? Why did it have to be with fire and a loud voice of shofar and the floor is shaking? And everybody started to scream, Moshe, please, we're dying here, save us, go to the mountain, speak to God. Moshe said, don't worry, Hashem is not here to hurt you, he's only testing you, he wants to elevate you. No, no, no, no, we are dying, go, go, go, whatever he said we're going to do. Why? They're dying for fear. The angels had to bring their souls back into the body. Fear is the biggest gift G-d gave us. Without it, I don't know if the Jewish nation would even exist today. Fear is a great motivation. King Solomon, the smartest person ever lived, wrote, "Ashrei Adon mefachet hamid." The smarter you are, the more you're scared of doing the wrong thing. The dumber you are, you're not afraid of anything. There are two signs in a human being to know if he's smart or not. You can look, you can see it by the kids right away when they're young. What are the two indications if your kid is a smart kid or not? One is shame and two is fear. If he's too stupid, he's not afraid of anything. He jumps from building, just screaming, fire, driving like crazy until Hashem, he dies or sits on the wheelchair for the rest of his life. Why? He doesn't have any fear from anything. Or he's going to end up in jail. Shame, it's another sign of wisdom. When Adam and Eve were naked before they got the wisdom, they ate from the tree of wisdom. They didn't even know it's wrong to walk naked like animals because they were in the level of an animal. A monkey that walks naked doesn't feel embarrassed even when people take pictures of him. He doesn't have the knowledge to understand I'm naked. As soon as they ate from the tree, they were ashamed. Immediately they realized modesty. They covered themselves, their private parts. So what do you see? Shame. It's the first indication of wisdom and fear. David HaMelech, King David, wrote in Tehillim, "Samar mipachdechab esari." The higher his level went, the higher his fear was. Why? Because when you understand who the Creator of the world, you have to be shaking to go against His will. They tell you to keep Shabbat and you don't care and you do whatever you want, usually it comes from ignorance. If you would understand what Shabbat is, no one in the world would dare to break Shabbat. Why people today are breaking Shabbat? Like I said before, 80% of them have no idea what it is. How do you expect them to fulfill their mission when they don't even think it's a serious thing? I made a film about Shabbat and I had in Israel 450,000 views and more than 10,000 messages people sent me that immediately they became Shomer Shabbat. Just from that film alone, more than 10,000 emails. If I know the things that you say on that video before, I would never dare to be Mechanei Shabbat. You have to see what kind of people from the kibbutz, all kinds of lost people from far, they didn't know anything from their life. After they watched, they got the shock of their life. Your life. That's why I always say ignorance is the biggest threat to our life. If you don't know what you live for, you don't know the covenant that the Creator of the world made with you, you don't know what's coming after life, you don't know what's gonna be the consequences of your choices, you destroyed your own future. So now, Baruch Hashem, when you have such a beautiful place with Torah, Pleasant to be here. Great rabbanim. Everybody did everything they can to make people come. It's not enough to come. Everybody that comes here must drag minimum 5 more to come. It's an obligation of every Jew. It's an obligation. It's not a choice. Everybody must bring his cousin, his friend, his neighbor. Bring more and more and more until the rabbi Wow, I need to build another place. It's not big enough. Someone who saves one soul, Hashem looks at it like he saved an entire world, because one soul becomes an entire world. One person can become a whole world. The world started with one person. After 1,000 years, it becomes a nation. B'ezrat Hashem, I hope All these young boys are here. If you want to see the rest of the subject, you can watch my film Torah and Science. It's a 4-hour seminar. Yeah, maybe 5 minutes for questions. Any questions about what I spoke about? Disagreement? Agreement? You have an exact answer for what the purpose is? Yes. The Torah said. The Torah said that this place was designed by Hashem to He tests us to see if we're going to keep His commandments or not, that He should reward us in our end. And right after that, He says, that I should reward you in your end. You may ask why Hashem had to give us a test, that we have to earn the good. That later is going to reward us. The answer is because if you get a free gift, you don't enjoy from it. Because if you come to my house and you live a month and we take care of you and we do laundry for you and we give you a car and we cook for you and we clean for you and all day we serve you, after a week you say, excuse me, can I help here? Can I take the garbage out? Can I help with cooking? Can I go shopping? Can I, you know, anything? Tell me what to do. No, no, no, you're only here for us to serve you. You won't feel comfortable. Why? Because it will cause you shame. It's called bread of shame. Lechem nama de'kisufah. Nama, bread of shame. So what happened? Hashem designed the world that we earn the good. So when we come to Hashem and say, you owe me, it's 100% a fact. He owes us. And that's why, by the way, David HaMelech wrote in Tehillim, Shema Al Timitzvot Echa, it's written right after that, "Hala Sakhara Hashem Tzafanta Leirecha," for the reward that you put aside for those who follow you and fear you. You should know it says 9 times in the Torah to love Hashem, but it says 18 times to fear Hashem. Many people say, I'm only serving Hashem with love. That's imaginations. There's no such thing. It's just an imagination. To fear God and only to serve him with fear, it's also not good. It must be a combination of awe and fear. That's why the Torah always says, "L'ava'u le'ira, le'ava'u le'ira." Because one without the other is not so good. But the problem today that we live in such a liberal world that the word fear, especially even in the Jewish nation today, became illegal. Illegal. Some speakers that speak strong, like the past generation, everybody spoke strong. The Prophet made a convention to the speakers to warn them to go back to the old-fashioned way, to stop with the— to speak strong, to shake the people up. Today people are afraid to speak up, you know, it's politically correct, this, that. So people try to focus only on positive. It helps. But in a limited way. But when people understand that there is a price to pay for them living in a mistake, ignoring the Creator, being ungrateful to Him even though He gives them so much, they use it against Him and they ignore His commandments. Once they understand there are major consequences later on, it helps them very much to change. So the fear and the punishment is a gift that motivates the person to save his soul. It's not a curse, it's not something negative, it's the best thing. It's just like a father that say to his son, if you touch drug one time, the $10 million estate that I wrote on your name, immediately you lose it. And the boy is dying to go with his friends and do stupid things, and he never dare to touch it because it's $10 million, this these drugs that he's about to smoke. He doesn't want to be that stupid. So what saved his life? The fear. Without that, he would already be dead. How his father saved him? He gave him something to be scared of. Fear is not a negative thing. The Torah is full of examples how it saves the life of the greatest people ever. The problem is that with the liberalism today, They make it look, unfortunately, that it's something negative. B'ezrat Hashem, I hope the words went into your head, into your hearts, and B'ezrat Hashem, I will hear good news from every one of you. Thank you very much.
