Operating in your Feminine and Masculine Energy... Ep 14

Transcript of a Power 108.9 radio program segment "Conscious Intercourse" (hosts Ebony Emma Peel and Armand Kadima with Michael McFadden). The hosts discuss Kanye West/Ye — his controversial public statements, possible trauma and strategic use as a media distraction — and critique how social media and mainstream outlets distort clips. They broaden the conversation to media and capitalist dynamics (endorsements, billionaire status as "fluff", corporate co-option of movements like Black Lives Matter), cultural production (music glamorizing violence), and community responses (circulating dollars within the Black "village", empathy, conscious awakening). The recording includes station promos/ads and closes with sign-off and musical outro.

Conscious intercourse.
Conscious intercourse. About to get right back into it.
Exactly right? What a beautiful day. Right? To be alive.
Always a beautiful day. To be alive. Right.
To be grateful for every moment.
Right, man. Because we know life is precious. Right?
Precious indeed. And untimely and unexpected. Right?
Man, man. Man, this. This has been a very, very interesting holiday weekend.
It's a holiday.
No, it. It's not a holiday, but it was a holiday.
A holiday.
A hella day. Exactly. A hell of a weekend, man. There's so much going on, so many energies and vibrations going on, and it's not necessarily on the. The highest of highs. You know, our people are in just so much distress and anger.
And Kanye did all that. I mean, my bad. Yay. Did all that. Yeah.
Got our people just can't blame it on Kanye.
Yeah. Just got it right now.
He's the deploy. He's the distraction right now. Y' all gotta. Y' all gotta understand that that's all you hear. That's all you hear in the media is what Kanye is doing.
Right.
It's not con. It's yay, man. That's respect the man.
Right?
Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Yay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's a distraction, like.
But, yeah, it's a distraction.
It's a distraction. I mean, not that. Not saying that. You know, it's not a lot of things going on with, you know, that. That can be seen with the conscious eye. But understand, it's all a deploy. It's. It's a lot more going on behind the scenes, and they. They put. They put our own people out there to distract us, these situations like that, to distract us from the bigger picture.
Right? Yeah. Right.
And Kanye, the bigger picture, unfortunately, he's the tool right now. He's the. The puppet.
You know, I don't think he'll like that.
I don't think he'll like that either. But it's. It's a fact. It's a fact. You know, that's what they do. They use us as puppets against our own demise. Right?
Yeah. Seems that's the plan.
It's like back in the slavery days, they pushed. They put the man out there in front of. In front of his whole family and just whoop them, you know?
Yeah.
Right in front of everybody, in front of y'. All in front of all your people, they just, just whoop you, you know, beat you.
They did more than that. Yeah, they did more than that. You know, when I read that Willow lynch letter, you know, it was like.
Yeah, it's modern day slavery. All this stuff that was been done, this lynching is still being done. It just looked different, right?
It's.
It looks different.
It's cleaner, right?
Yes.
It's like they've made it for social media, right? Safe for work, right? Yeah, they've made a safe for work for you to look at it. It's cleaner, it's easy, you know, it's. It's not as brutal, perhaps, right?
It's in our face. It's right there. It's, it's like, it's. No, you can't hide from it. You know, we scroll all day. You know, they, they know how to get it and get it in our face.
Right. So Kanye, yay. Rather has has the spotlight. He has perspectives, ideologies, Right. That he wants to share with his people. Right. But is it then distorted, right, to make it seem that he's lost his mind? You know, crazy, insane, Right. I mean, of course, you know, being black people in America, there is some sense of, you know, craziness and insanity.
And using the fact that he lost his mother, you know, he, he going through a lot of trauma, healing, you know.
Yeah.
You know, they throw that out there to try to justify with the picture that they're painting. Of course.
Correct. Yes. You know, some of the things he says that, yeah. You know, the average person can't quite decipher, you know, or process what he's articulating. Right. This is a very intelligent man. Right. You know, from the, from the start, he, you know, gave us, you know, his perspective, his ideologies, you know, through his music, through his consciousness.
Right.
He stood up for black people when, you know, Katrina happened. You know, know when he called out George Bush for not liking black people. Right. When he, you know, he called out the injustices, right. The things that we're talking about, the modern day slavery type stuff. Right. You know, at the award show, he called out, you know, what was it, the VMAs or whatever was the hotel of Swift, you know what I'm saying? Like, he stood, he. But then all of a sudden he's crazy and insane now. Right. And everything that he's saying is, you.
Know, he's been trying to tell us from the beginning.
Exactly. You know, so it's all about perspective. Right. And I get it. Some of the stuff he says. Yeah.
I'm like, you know, it ain't what you say, it's how you say it.
He may.
He may need a little filter. He may need, you know, he may need a team, you know, talking about blowing up another, you know, an entire race of people is, you know, it's quite aggressive and it's not easy to.
Talk about, you know, the boss, when they cutting your check, you know, so true. A lot of people are in shackles and don't even know it.
Wow.
And it's hard to break from it.
Right, because you gotta. So you gotta pay gm, right, for that car note, right? You gotta pay Georgia Power. Right. You know, everything you gotta pay. You know, you gotta pay Kroger, you know, Publix for them groceries, right?
Yeah.
You know, if you gotta, you know, pay, you gotta work to get the basic necessities right. Food, shelter, clothing. Right? Tom, you gotta pay Tommy. People still wear Tommy Hilfiger?
Oh, no, I don't think so. I hope not.
What people wear nowadays, Nike.
Just expensive. Unnecessarily expensive.
Like Cardi B. Be talking about Balenciaga.
Yeah, yeah. Speaking of endorsements that he lost.
Adidas, Right, Right.
Yeah. There's some big contracts.
Indeed.
Smart man.
But he said he wasn't afraid to lose all of this, right? He said it.
He knew. He knew what was going to happen. The thing is, he's putting out information that. That is factual, you know, is, you know, whether we want to believe him or not, whether we want to use it and, you know, use what he's going through in his trauma to not listen to the message. Yeah, he got a strong message. And we, you know, he's speaking the truth. You know, we don't own anything. We are. We are the ones out here, you know, controlling, know, the main consumers. Right?
Yeah, the number one.
The number one consumers. But we don't own anything. We, you know, we. We don't own nothing. We don't even support our communities. Yeah, but we're the biggest consumers.
Exactly. That's. That's a point that I was also, you know, I had this discussion with the children and they were telling me how, you know, because I was trying. I was defending yay to a certain extent. Right?
You were? Yes, you were. You.
You were. I was defending Yay.
You know, he should be defending.
And they were just like, how can you. You know, I'm like, well, like, if you really listen to what he was saying. He didn't say exactly what everyone is saying that he said I'm like. But I'm not gonna get into all of the details.
Yeah.
You know, but if you really listen to the whole, you know, like I.
Said, it ain't what you say, it's how you say it, you know, because it's. All this other stuff that's going on around him is making people not listen to what he's saying because, you know, they're looking at his personal life.
No, because they chop up the videos to show you guys.
Exactly.
Only a portion of the conversation.
Right. Where you don't get social media.
Everybody's going crazy. Have you heard? Kanye said this, that, and the other.
Like, did you hear the rest of the conversation?
If you really listen to what he said, he didn't say that just out of a thin hat, you know what I'm saying?
But then again, he has said some crazy things, though, or tweeted some crazy things, and it's like, you know, I mean, yeah, he's.
He's upset.
He's on a rant.
He's upset these people coming for him. So he's upset. He's just, you know, he's. He's going through his.
You know, but it's like, we never give our own people any grace.
Yeah.
You know, like. Yeah, they make a mistake.
Benefit of the doubt.
We crucify no.
Benefit of the doubt. Let's examine this thing. Like, why is this man doing this and saying these things Right. Before we jump at his throat and, you know, and criticize him, you know?
Right. You know, like somebody who was up there, you know, top tier.
Right.
Why. Why would he risk it all, man?
This brother was what, the wealthiest black man in u. S. History?
Yeah.
But they. Apparently he's no longer that. Allegedly after he lost those contracts, it happened quick, but he was the wealthy, and that's a. That's a.
That's a great status, you know? You know, and it's.
He. He did that, but he accomplished that. Right.
That's a great accomplishment. But that. That's not important to him. That's not. He's saying he'll risk it all. He'll let it all go because he won. He want to wake up his people.
Yeah.
You know, we've been in a slumber way too long, and it's like, I. I'll sacrifice myself. So I think he's sacrificing himself. That's how. That's how I look at it. You know, it's. You know, he. He. He's conscious, but he's also caught up. You know, he's caught up in the world. So it's. It's like he's fighting with. With himself right now, really. I think that's what's going on. I think he's fighting with himself, but he's.
The duality between good and evil. Good and evil or spiritual and carnal.
Right. Conscious and unconscious like that.
Conscious intercourse, you know.
Right, exactly. You know, he's. He's. He's having to fight with himself. But through all this pain, you know, sometimes that's what bring us to. To higher level of spirituality is pain.
You know, so pain brings us to our higher level spirituality because it forces us to.
It forces us to. To. To isolate, to rit. To really dive back into ourselves. Correct, right. It forces us to do that. Okay, so in those moments, I think that's when we. We tap into our spirituality.
Yeah. Because it's like it forces us to see things from a different lens, different perspectives and process things. Things to the perspective to where we're evolved. Right. Because you recognize when you're dealing in that pain, in those difficult moments, you recognize that a lot of things don't even really matter. A lot of things that we put so much, you know, emphasis on don't really even matter. Right, exactly. So we then begin to look at things from a different perspective.
Right, exactly. It's like you forced to. When you have to.
Yeah.
It's not going your way. You're upset, you crying, you know, you hurt, you know, you. You. You forced to process it.
Exactly. Right.
You got to feel it.
Yes.
Right.
Yeah. Even though, going back to yay. Right. To me, some of the things, you know, some from an example, perspective, you know, some of the things that he shared, you know, even that little snippet. Right. He was detailing information that he obtained from a documentary that he was watching. Right, Right. I think for me, the way that I processed it was that he was simply saying that this may be a setup. This might have been staged. This man, you know, said to his roommates something about, they want a tall black one. I'm like, yeah, they want that. I'm like, who wants? So I'm like, I'm starting to come like, who. Who they want? And then he talks about how this man prayed for eight minutes before he left that day. But typically, which was, like, unusual behavior for him, according to his roommates.
Right.
He said that they want. Exactly. They said they wanted this. Then he said, you know, he prayed. Then he said they hit. Hit him off with the fentanyl. Right. And so to me, it's like, where.
Do you even get this information?
Exactly. But he said the documentary from Candace Owens. He simply said that it's like, I'm watching a documentary, that this is what he said. He's like, if you look at the video, the knee really was on his neck like that, right? Talking about they call Mama. You know what I'm saying? And Mama was his girlfriend.
That's Mama.
And then he's. Then he goes into Virgil, talking about what really happened to Virgil. Virgil was, you know, one of the greatest actually, if not the greatest designer, black designers. All of a sudden this, you know, he. Something happens to him and the company that he supposedly was affiliated with is now making a killing of. So Kanye simply, you know, he's just like, hey, I'm just. I saw this documentary.
I asking questions.
This could have been staged. Like, he's just saying, this doesn't sound right to me. So to me, that's how I looked at. Cuz everyone kept saying, oh, Kanye said this, this, that, and the other. I'm like, no, well, not listen.
That's how the media try to do it for me.
When I watched it, I'm like, oh, I was looking for him to say, you know, so and so didn't get, you know, killed by the police. I'm like, he didn't say that.
He didn't say it.
So I'm like, why is everybody getting this information?
Because that's how we gullible like that. You put anything in the media, everybody just believe it.
Yeah.
So easy to believe.
Because you watch, you see this caption that says Kanye said, oh, ye said this. Then you, you're already. You ignore what he. The actual. What you're listening to because you've already come to a conclusion that he said this.
Exactly. Right.
Right. You've already come to your mind. You read it, so it's real. So you've already been sold on what you said before. You actually listen to it. So even when you listen to it, you're not even you, you. You already made a conclusion and you now you're texting everybody, man, without even doing anything.
Now you sharing it, don't even know the fact.
And now it's viral and that's what's going on without even really paying attention to what he actually said.
Is that crazy?
Insane. I was, I went back, I was like, let me watch this.
I'm like, man is powerful. He didn't say that.
Right? So to me, that was what I felt, that I'm like, you know what? Maybe I'm tripping. But I just, I saw it differently. Right, but the other stuff that he's saying. Yeah, I mean, the whole thing about blowing up the, you know, you know, the anti Semitic things, I'm like, he's upset because he feels like these people are coming after him. So he's like. He even said, I'm. I'm sleeping tonight, not feeling well, whatever. I'm like, he even says that, you know, I'm sleepy, whatever. So he just wrote some stuff. Right. But you know, that's the power of social media. It's like you can speak your mind and sometimes. Yeah. Your mind in the, in certain moments when it's late at night, you're thinking certain things. You're upset because you think about how.
How you operate fear.
But. But you also think about how your people have been treated throughout history. Like, he's in the music industry. We even when we watch these documentaries are being put out. Like when I watch the whole Sam Cooke thing, I'm like, damn, like, Sam Cooke was a genius. He was before, ahead of his time. But then they talk about how his managers, the people were stealing his music, his contracts. Next thing you know, he ends up dead. And it's like. And he's being blamed for, you know, trying to listen. Rape a woman. I'm like, sam Cook didn't have to rape no woman.
Like, the same Sam Cook didn't have.
To go after no woman. Like, Sam Cooke was a good looking brother. Like, all of a sudden he gone. But then these companies that are not that of the people that, you know, Kanye is upset with the people. Yeah. They own all the record rights to all Sam Cooke's music. So I mean, I just think just. Yeah, it's like, it's just. He's just detailing his perspective. Right. Of what, how he sees what's happening behind the scenes. Right. You know? Yeah.
You know, and for someone of his caliber who's made it and been in these rooms that we have not been in, I would listen to him, right? I would listen to what he got. The man was a billionaire. Like, listen to the man. Like, you know what I mean? You know, I listen. I'm not saying listen and say listen to.
We listen to these other. Know, we listen to these other billionaires easily, right. Without come out and say something. Nobody else but our own Elon must say something.
Oh, man, it's science.
Right, Right.
Because he makes testimony just a. From the streets, from the hood. Oh, wow. You know, he ain't got no relevance. No, no, that's. I'm saying, that's how our people looking at it. We live.
Right? That's it.
That's real. That's what. That's how they say.
He.
Another like me, he can't have no.
You know, but he said himself, it's like, if you're in the bins, in the coop, you're still away. Still a.
Would have been still a ninja, right? Still a nigga with a biz. That's how. That's what I'm saying. Like, we can't.
He said, they make us hate ourselves and love their wealth. Right? That's what Shoddy's Holly Wooden ball. Is that right? You know what I'm saying back. Exactly. When it all falls down, like, he.
Man, when it all falls.
He said this. It's like it's gotta fall down. He was telling y' all he wants to bring this stuff down.
Yes.
He said it in 2004. College dropout. He said when it all falls down. And he talked about. You know what I'm saying? He's talking about his. His own insecurities because he said he can't. What do you say? Sometimes he can't go out with that without one of his watches.
Right.
You got to go see Jacob every time he gets a check so he could look good. He said, yeah, I got insecurities, too, because I'm part of the system.
Spending all your money on. Right, right. Exactly.
You don't named her daughter Alexis, Right, Right. It's like it's ingrained in our. In the fabric of who we are. Very superficial, capitalistic system. That's all he's exposing right now. It's like I. I amassed all of this to show y' all that it's really not worth it.
Exactly.
I could give it all away because I want to stand for something. Because you don't stand for nothing. You fall for anything.
Right, Exactly.
So to me, that's kind of how I, you know, I'm choosing to look at it glass half full. Right.
And I just wish a lot of people would just give them some grace, you know?
Yeah.
Like, listen to. I'm not saying take everything for, you know, as fact that comes out his mouth, but just listen, do your homework. Stop believing everything. Like, he's spitting some facts. Yeah, he really is.
Yes, indeed. And then, you know, even going on what we discussed last show, you know, when we talk about, you know, masculinity versus femininity, Right. Is that you say femininity. Femininity feels like. Like I'm rapping femininity. You know what I'm saying?
Femininity.
Right.
Femininity.
Femininity, Right. It's like, you know, you know, he's ultimately operating from his masculine, you know, perspective. Right. Because masculine is very competitive. Masculine energy is competitive. It's abrasive. It's in your face. It's like. Right. It's raw. And he's a pretty raw guy, right? He gets live. You know, you watch Kanye's interviews. He's passionate. Yes. He's, you know, he's bringing it all. You know, he's. He's like, where they at? Come get me. You know what I'm saying?
There's a misconception that to be masculine, that you. You can't, you know, be emotional.
He's passionate. He's very emotional and passionate about what he believes in.
Very much so.
Right. So I, you know, I. I admire that about him, you know, that he believes to. And, you know, without. Without backtracking, he spills his heart. I heard he came out with some type of apology. I. I haven't really seen it or saw it, but, you know, I guess he. You know, the children would tell me about it. I'm just like, this is.
Yeah, somebody. Somebody told him he got to go apologize. You know, his children are watching, and, you know, what are the babies gonna say when they look at this?
Like, I mean, he's.
You know, just give him some grace. Y' all, just. Just. Just be easy on our people. Understand, you know, understand his plight, what he's dealing with as a black man in America.
Empathy. Right. I saw a young lady the other day, they had a shirt that said choose. That said the red Choose. Empathy. Right. A lot of times, you know, if we just practice empathy. Right. Just a little bit.
Right. Just a little bit.
No, it'd be a. We'll be in a much better place. The world will be a much better place if we just practice a little bit of empathy.
Exactly.
If we chose empathy.
Exactly.
Right. So it's a beautiful thing.
Never know what somebody else is going through.
Exactly.
Yo, we just had somebody chime in.
Okay.
Okay.
What they got to say?
It's not really that.
Miss me?
Ah. What you got to say, producer?
No, I want to put. I want to put it. I want to put a question out there for y'.
All.
Okay.
Plant. Devil's advocate or angel's advocate, however you want to say it. Yeah, we knew, like, the things that Kanye talked about, like, we already know that about the system. Why do we put one. His billionaire status. Allegedly.
Yes.
Why Did.
Why does that hold more weight than somebody like a J. Cole, who told us years ago, yeah, you know, I was chasing his fame and I was chasing this money, and when I got it, I didn't feel any different.
Exactly.
He evolved to something else.
Yes.
And other. Other billionaire. Black. Black billionaires out there that really understand the process. But why does Yay get a pass? Why does he get a pass for his antics that he displays and we. We justify it.
That's a very valid point.
Well, I don't think it has nothing to do with his financial status. I mean, this is a capitalistic. It's a. It's a capitalistic system. So, you know that the. The rule, like, you know, success is the measure of success is supposed to be money. Right. You achieve a certain amount, for the most part, it's like you're successful.
Yeah. Based on your account. Right.
I think that's the answer to your question. Why. At it as, you know, looking at his financial status, thinking that, okay, if he made this much money, he's successful, then he must. He must know what he's talking about. He must have it all together. But I think it's also knowing that he came from nothing. Right? Like, he. He didn't always have that. He came from nothing.
No, I was saying. I was saying using. Using the status of how much money he's earned to justify what he's doing.
Correct.
That. That. That's my point. No, I love the. I love the story of Kanye West. That's awesome. But for him to make these. Have these kind of conversations, talk about these people, talk about George Floyd, you know, just things like that. One of the first things we always go to, or what I hear is the fact that he's a billionaire. You see what I'm saying?
Correct.
And we. We give him a pass for that. Or like Ebony said in the beginning, oh, his mom passed. You know, I'm not. Not, not saying how he feels about it, but that was a while ago. Yeah, that was a while ago.
And we all go through trauma. We all lose people. My mom passed. You know, a lot of people lose their parents. It's not an excuse. Yeah, it's definitely not an excuse.
I mean, I get what you're saying.
You can't ignore the fact that he is a billionaire. You know, I don't. I don't.
I mean, ignore that. Well, I guess. I guess what you're saying is that why we give him a pass. Well, actually.
Right. People, I don't think.
We don't give them a Pass.
I don't think that's what we do.
I'm giving them a pass. I think we may be giving them a pass on this show, but the rest of the world is criticizing. Yeah, Y. Nobody's giving him a pass. Yeah, the rest of the world's going in on Yay right now, thinking that he needs help. Don't J. Cole got a whole song talking about how he's lost it and he needs help? Like, the whole world's going in on him. So actually, I disagree that he gets a pass. He's not getting a pass.
I think that's why he's not getting a.
We're giving him. I'm giving him a pass because I'm trying to be. I'm choosing empathy. Trying.
People are the hardest on him right now.
Everybody else is going in on y right now that he needs help. You know, he needs, you know, somebody needs to, like, take a hold of him. He needs to get on his meds. He needs to, you know, somebody to put him somewhere. Like, he. That he needs to be in asylum somewhere before something, you know, crazy happens. And so I feel like I'm giving him a pass. So we're somehow trying to justify his perspective by practicing or choosing empathy to just trying to just hear him out a little bit. But I don't think he's getting a pass at all. He. He. He tries to articulate that him being a billionaire, but he also talks about how he's disrespectful. A lot of times when I hear Kanye talk about him being a billionaire, he talks about how he's disrespected because he's a billionaire. Like, people still address him as this rapper, this. The rapper Kanye west, right? He's like, no, I changed my name. Like.
And they look at it as him being cocky, though. Like, he's just being cocky.
Yeah. He's like, I changed my name. Like, Cassius Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali. He's like, respect me. Like, my name is Yay. You know, I dropped, you know, my slave name, right? And he's like, but they don't introduce me as the mogul Kanye West. So, you know, the successful rapper, you know, the successful entrepreneur Kanye west, right? The multi billion dollar Kanye west, right? That's how these other, you know, people are introduced. You know, the. The Bill Gates is the, you know, all the other billionaires, right? They're introduced as moguls. And, you know, all these, you know.
Amazing world, definitely their financial status. Billionaire millionaire.
Yeah, let's break down that billion, though.
Yeah.
From a. From a net worth perspective, yes. You lose a deal. He's no longer a billionaire, so is he actually a billionaire? That's. That's a. That's another piece of the puzzle, actually.
The interesting thing about this, then it also begins to empower us to truly understand when we see these billionaire people, it's not that they got a billion dollars in their bank account. None of them do. Because if they're all measured based on some type of contract, some type of endorsement. Endorsement deal. So. So now it's like, it's all really fluffed.
It's assets.
It's all really. To me, I think it's really exposing the system for what it is to a certain.
And that's what he's trying to do.
It's like.
That's exactly what he's trying to do.
Like, this stuff is really fluff.
Like, he's using himself. Like, see, watch. Watch what they're going to do to me.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Forbes come up with this list of billionaires every single year. But. And for us, it's like, oh, my God, these people are billionaires. And we. We feel envious that we want to. You know, it makes us. I don't know about y', all, but when I'm looking at these lists, I'm like, man, I want a billion. Of course I want a million. You know what I'm saying? Because it's like you're looking at these things come out in your face, right, While you're sitting here struggling to pay your rent or, you know, your car note or your children want this, that, and the other. But these people are being glorified as billionaires. Billionaire, billionaire, this. And a lot of it is fluff.
It is definitely fluff.
So I think it's really changing our. The perspective to analyze what's really happening.
So the name of the show is Conscious Intercourse, right?
Yes.
Yes.
Kanye's message isn't for the conscious. Because we know. Right.
Or.
Okay, exactly. The unconscious.
Who is.
His message. His message for.
Is to wake us up to become conscious.
Right, Right. I think he makes us aware.
To me, his message is to spark the consciousness, is to spark the evolution. Right. Is to. To spark that thought. Right. That original thought or the analytical thought, to truly assess the situation.
Right, exactly. And to take the blindfolds off. That's. That's.
That's.
That's really what it is to stop looking at things through their lens the way they want us to look at things and see things for what it really Is. I think that's what he wants to do. He wants to wake us up.
Exactly. Same thing with conscious intercourse. Right. Because a lot of times we operate unconsciously. That's one of the reasons why we even brought this platform forward was that majority of us operate unconsciously in our day to day behaviors. Right.
Habit.
You know, I learned that by the time we're 30, 35, 95 of what we do is unconscious. Right. 95 of how we operate in process things and move throughout the world is unconscious. That we're just going through the motions. We're like. We're robot. As the same manner that a robot, you know, like program runs a computer. Yeah, we're just being, you know, we're just moving along unconsciously. Right. So when we. Like I said, you look on ig, you see the caption that says Kanye said this. You don't even. You've already unconsciously. Already felt like you've.
You already processed it.
So you don't. So you don't even watch. Even when you watch the video. You're not even. You're unconsciously just watching it. But in your mind, you're like, even though he doesn't say it, you still run away with it, like unconsciously. Right.
Even though you don't hear it, you don't even see it. You don't even see the tweet.
Yeah.
You don't even hear the message.
You just.
Just believe it.
To me. Is a consc. Artist. That he is. I think that's what he's. That's what everything is about right now. Yeah, right. Is to just make us conscious, you know, aware of what's really like to continuously. He's. He's a modern day revolutionist, right?
He is.
You know, I remember Nas, one of my. He's one of my favorite artists, you know, said a while back, it says he said something about athletes in the song. He says athletes of today are afraid to make Muhammad Ali statements.
Right, right. Because they thought Muhammad Ali was crazy.
Exactly.
He was too cocky.
But you know why?
You caught up in the cockiness. He wasn't listening to it.
So. Mind you, Muhammad Ali was pretty. Yeah, pretty, you know, controversial. Right.
Very conscious.
But he was conscious. But he was also regarded as very, you know. Yeah, controversial, Very passionate.
You need someone intelligent, fearless like that.
So Kanye, he's actually demonstrating Muhammad Ali ish type of vibes, you know, Confidence. Exactly. All right. I hear that little tone in the background. So it means we gotta take a moment. Right?
And we'll be back some more Conscious intercourse.
Conscious intercourse. Keep up with Power 108.9 on social media, Instagram and Facebook. It's the exact same thing. It's at power 108.9. Oh, okay. Power 108.9. A station for the people.

Yeah, and detach.
Right, Conscious. Right, right. Back in it. Right back at it. Yeah. We're so alive today. Yeah, so it's so intense, right? Such a. Such a powerful conversation. Well, you know what? Intercourse, it's a very, very stimulating.
You know what we were talking about is, you know, how money controls us, right? How you got so many people with status in In. In. In a. A certain level of financial, you know, wealth, that they're not out here speaking up. Like, why aren't they speaking up? Why. Why aren't other celebrities speaking up like Kanye? Because they're being controlled.
Yes.
They're afraid of losing these contracts. They're afraid of losing these deals.
Yeah.
You know, he. He just. He, like, he's not afraid.
So true.
You know, we. We can. If we just came together and. And supported our own. We don't have to be in fear here.
Yeah. Because I even thought about this, you know, a moment ago when I was actually chatting with the children around this whole, you know, yay situation. And I just. I kind of put two and two together. But, you know, my children told me that this is something that's already been, you know, analyzed and. And talked about. But if you think about. Right. The whole incident around, you know, George Floyd. Because I think Kanye was trying to insinuate that this could potentially been staged or set up. Right. But then if you look at what happened at the time, the aftermath that occurred with the whole. With the rioting.
The Black Lives Matter.
The Black Lives matter that we don't own. Exactly. Right. So prior to that, if you remember, there was a movement within the black community to circulate the dollars amongst.
Exactly.
Black. Before all of this. Yeah, it was a movement. It was the whole black Wall street movement. Right. That was gaining a lot of momentum. Right. You remember that? It was getting a lot of momentum. 2008, 2019. I mean,2018. Right. 2019. 2018. There was a tremendous momentum around certain.
Money back into the community.
Right.
To buy black.
Right.
And then what happened?
And then this happened. Riots, Right.
Looting. Now all the black communities tore up. All the black businesses is tore up.
Not. Not only that, though, right? Not only.
That was like. Was that. Was that by accident?
I didn't even think about that. Think about it. But not only that, though, right? Everything that happened, right? Then, you know, these big companies come out and sponsor, say, oh, we stand for black people. We're going to support Black Lives Matter. And I don't know all the details, but I've. I've been heard that Black Lives Matter is not really.
It does not belong to black people.
So it's like. So there's all this, you know, movement to support Black Lives Matter, to pour money into the Black Lives Matter movement. These corporate endorsements are coming out, and then our black. Then black people are like, oh, wow, look at this big company. They donated this money to. To Black Lives Matter. Right now. I'm gonna support them right now. I'm gonna go and support them now. Right? So it's like you. You got distracted from your. The agenda of putting on black dollars back in the black community, circulating with. Within our. Amongst our people, was then distorted back into supporting, just like that, the same companies that we were trying to take our money away from just a year before, manipulating, just like that, Just like that. Because they. They were feeling their pockets were hurting. When we talked about. About black. I remember a lot of people were talking about boycott.
Oh, I remember the boycotts. I was in Chicago on Michigan Avenue with the boys. Michigan Avenue shut down. Like, yeah, they know what to do.
Exactly.
But it's like they felt it.
But literally something like that happens, right? So I'm like, kanye, man. I don't know. He may have a point. It's like, was this an economic stage?
Yeah.
Was this an economic plot to stage this situation to result in a rioting and the looting? And then. Yeah, companies come out and donate money. Right. It's almost like it's a movie. I remember someone. Someone. Someone once told me that if it's on TV that, you know, it's not real. It's like, if it's on TV that, you know it's been orchestrated because nothing just shows up on TV without any type of oversight, without any type of an agenda. So to me, it's like a lot of the stuff that we hear is based on what we see on tv, then we run out on the street. It. It stifles our emotions, right? You see something on tv, whatever it may be, then you get upset. You know, the next thing, you're out in the street, you know what I'm saying? Rioting, looting, whatever. Right? Based on what you saw on tv.
Yeah.
It's like. It's like you're being.
Like you said, it's power in it. That's exactly what it is.
You're being controlled. So to me, I think that's really what he was trying to detail, right? And he's like, yo, I'm just a mess. I'm just trying to get y' all to see it. And maybe his. Maybe he's not articulate enough. Maybe he's not, I don't know, political. I don't know, PC enough. Right. To get the message properly. Right.
Explaining from a public school, you know, public school education.
Exactly, right.
That's what he explained it from his level of his. His reality.
Exactly.
You know, he's trying his best, you.
Know, to get, you know, to get the message across but it's being distorted because people don't want you to really see the truth.
Exactly.
You know, just like how you know anything in life, right, when people are trying to get you to believe something. For example, I remember when the whole thing came out with the pink gooey stuff that McDonald's nuggets were made out of.
Oh right, the fake meat.
I remember driving by a McDonald's like within a time period and he said, nuggets now with real chicken. It literally said that on the marquee. You said nuggets now with real chicken. So after this stuff comes out, now you're going to tell me, now we have real chicken. They're actually admitting it, but everybody was storming. But I looked at the drive thru when I saw that the drive through was right.
Ain't that crazy?
Now they got real chicken. Everybody was running, let's go taste this real chicken. Now I'm like, wow. Like, like straight up, like we were running to go taste the real chicken because we've never tasted real chicken before before.
Just like the whole Popeye spicy chicken.
But it's like we're unconscious.
We don't even think like Popeyes. Like that, that was crazy. Like that was the whole pop. Everybody had to taste them. A crispy, spicy, crispy Popeye sandwich. Like. Like what?
Just like that. They get us to move. Right? That's the thing. That's the power that's within this capitalistic system. That's the power of advertising.
Wake up.
The power of the media. Power of advertising.
The power like puppets, right?
So I think that's all yay is. That's all he's doing.
That's all he's saying.
He's trying to shake things up a little.
Trying to defend our brother. That's all we are saying. You know, do your homework, stop being so easily manipulated. Do your homework, stop, you know, turn the, turn the media off. Open up a book.
Yeah, but a good point, but a good point was brought up. Nobody's saying nothing because they're afraid to lose.
They're afraid to use that little check.
Exactly. You're afraid because the person that they.
Talking about is writing their check.
Because literally you're afraid to lose your cuz literally they. You will lose your life. Literally. That's really what it boils down to. Like if you speak up, you're going to lose your life.
And we live in fear.
Just what it is, you know, and.
Then we live in fear because the.
Dr. Kings, the Malcolm X's like all Those people.
Where are our black leaders?
Michael Jackson.
Why do.
Why do black Michael Jackson. The. The, you know, the audience is saying, Michael Jackson, Prince, you know, Cosby. Cosby, right.
No, for real.
All these people that started saying something, right? They get. They get shut down.
And that's the thing. It's like. So we hear the word conspiracy. Like, oh, there they go talking. That's conspiracy again. Like, what do you mean it's real? Like, it's not this conspiracy. It's real.
Exactly. Like, it's like, yeah. So it's like, what do we do here? Right? It's like you're waking up, but you literally. You're afraid for your life. So I get it, why people are not speaking of what everybody wants to turn on. Yay. Right?
You know, why do they want to keep us ignorant?
Well, exactly.
That's what we got to ask ourselves. Why do you think that is? Why are they going through all of this to keep us deaf?
And I'm not making this up. Don't come after me. This stuff.
No, but that's a good question to ask yourself.
I remember watching. I remember watching this documentary. It's on. It was on Prime. It was. I don't know, you know, just Prime. Prime. It was something that was. It said something about how other intelligent agencies. Main objectives in the 60s was to prevent the rise of a black messiah. Like the top intelligence agency in the world, number one agenda is to stop the rise of a black messiah. I'm like, why? Right?
Because they know what happened. As for us as a people, if we came together, they know, but they know who we are. We just don't know who we are. Right?
So it's like, okay, we like, we know all these things.
What do we do? The question is left, what do we do?
Right? You know, that's really. Where yay. Is that. It's like, I'm willing to sacrifice all of this because I want to show y' all that it's all fluff anyways.
We gotta. We gotta. We gotta stop operating in fear. Yeah, we gotta stop.
Because we don't own anything.
We don't own anything.
But we work. But we. But we work for these companies that own everything. That own everything. So those things that they have, we actually create.
Exactly.
So.
And that's why they want to keep. There's. That's the answer. That's the answer.
Instead of creating for. If you could create it for them, create for yourself. Right? That's what we're talking about. Exactly. Come together and like, yo, you know how to cook, you know, how to make meals. Like the Village. The Village, right. Because we talk about the Soul Village concept a lot. We throw it around, right? Instead of going to McDonald's, go to Mammy, go to. Go to Aunt Jemima. You know what I'm saying? Not the one on the box.
The one that crawled around the corner down the street.
So as a village, you have. As a village, you got the place that Aunt Jemima has some food down the street. Right. You got, you know, JoJo over there knows how to. You know, yo. And when you say that, you know what's crazy?
That's how the hood's operated. Well, now, that's how I came.
How do you know you from the hood?
I'm from the hood.
I'm proud.
Throw your set up. Throw your set up. What? Throw your set.
I'm from pa. Oh, Chester. What type of hood is just the hood? Chester, Pa. Outside of Philly, Chester. That's the hood. We had a community. We was.
We was.
We had the village. We had. We had. We had the. The. The seamstress who sold everybody clothes. Everybody around the neighborhood looking alike. Got the same pattern on different outfits. You know, we had the. The one down the street who braided the hair. You know, everybody. Everybody was.
Was.
It was a community in the hood.
Exactly.
You know, you. When the street lights come on, if you ain't home, you hear that, you hear the parents yelling, yeah, your son over here, your daughter over here, you know, you know, it's like that was a community.
We were looking out.
It was poverty, but. But it was. It was. It was the village.
Everybody looked out. Exactly. We supported one another.
Right, Exactly.
So I think that's really, like. You bring up a very valid point. The community. Right. As we've done in the hood, when we have nothing. Right?
Yeah.
People in the hood have nothing, but they always find a way to come together and support one another.
Yeah.
Right. Because you already have nothing. Right. So ideally, it's the same methodology or process to unplug from the system. Right. If everyone collectively took what they had and started. That's what we're doing. Like I said, we talked about this. We talked about circulating the money within the community, because every other, you know, groups of people do it. Right. So why is it a problem when we do it? All the other groups of people do it. They're circulated in their community.
Exactly.
But it's like a problem when a certain people do it. Right. It's just. It's interesting. But then at the same time, you know, we think, we look at all these things, we even. We talk about Kanye, you know, a majority of the. I think a good portion of the black billionaires are either entertainers or athletes, right? So when we look at. We're gonna. Yay. For example, he made his wealth, his music sparked his wealth, right? Then we look at the music industry itself. He said it. We don't even own the music industry. But look at what's being put out by the music industry when we talk about violence against one another, drugs, the abuse of women, the misuse, the mistreatment, disrespect of women, right? But then just yesterday, you know, a young man, you know what I'm saying, transitioned, lost his life, right?
Yes. Member of the rap trio Migos.
You know, take off, take off. You know, shot and killed, right?
Like, come on. 28 years old, over.
Over a dice game, right?
It's crazy. Allegedly, right? Whatever was going on, the life.
Yeah. It actually took me back to, you know, Bun B and Pimpsy had the song, right? Ugk, right? One day you hear baby and then you're gone. No saying. But I remember, I remember specifically bumby talking, you know, you know, his, you know, his bars, his verse. He talked about how his homie lost his life from a dice game, right? And I'm like, he. This was. He talked about this 20, 25 years ago when this song came out. But when I heard the story yesterday, I'm like, man, this is still happening, yo. That was regardless how much security you have, how successful you are.
But it's like how much money you have. The rapper, right?
It's like this keeps happening.
It's a cycle here. What are y' all not seeing, right?
This music that's being put out is talking about, you know, killing and keeping.
Us in this state, you know, keeps us there.
It's self hate, right? It's perpetuating self hate, right? And it's destroying us. Yeah, right. You know, I'm not a big. I don't know, I've heard of, you know, Migos. You know, I was talking about to the children. They were like. I was like, this is probably the. The top rap group of Y generation. Like this generation, like the. They're the outcast of this new generation. Like there's no other. Like who else? What groups? Maybe groups don't even exist anymore.
I was just about to say that Amigos was big.
I mean, they. They had endorsements, were Pepsi commercials. Remember, they were driving as an M&M's or something. They Were riding them little scooters. They was big.
They don't do groups anymore. Like, they don't even do groups.
But Migos was successful. Like, this is big. Like, they're. You know, Migos is big.
Yeah. Yeah. Right? And it's. And it's. It's such sad news. Like, right. And then they circulated a video. Yeah.
That.
Like, how senseless. Like, how senseless they got the video. Video out there of his lifeless body after being shot. Like, just.
Yeah. And I don't even know how people can even watch that. Like, I. I'm not. I haven't watched it, and I'm not going to. Like.
And it keeps us in fear. It keeps us in fear, this type of stuff.
But we're doing this to each other, though.
Why they sit back and laugh. They don't even have to do anything anymore. They just watch us do it. You know, I. I just watched a video with these races, white supremacists, whatever they were, and they. Around the table, and someone asked them, you know, why do you hate. Why do you hate black people? Why. Why are you trying to, you know. You know, kill so many black people? Like, somebody asked them, they're like, we ain't doing none of that. We don't have to anymore. All we got to do is put guns, drugs, and. And. And alcohol in their community. Just drop it in the community and watch them kill themselves.
Do it themselves. Right?
Like, damn.
Yeah.
How true. The sad. It's the sad truth, but it's real, right? Like, damn.
It's very interesting. You know, like I said, you know, I feel for his loved ones. Right. I feel for him, you know, to. To go out that way.
Yes.
You know, so young. Right. So much ahead of him, you know, but it's like, you know, may he. May his soul, you know, rest in power or transition in power. Right?
Indeed, indeed.
And it's. I asked the children, I was like, did y' all take a moment of silence at school? They was like, dad, they don't care about that. Okay? I'm like, well, but I.
But I just hope we use these examples to wake up. That's what I'm saying. Like, you question what's going with what's coming out of your mouth, but things like this happen. And, yeah, it's no movement like this. This. This don't make. Make you tired and fed up.
Yeah, it keeps happening.
The songs, like, the. The songs, the lyrics, they not changing. They still talking about guns, sex, and drugs.
Yeah. You know, and it's actually, we're Manifesting these things, you know, because that's what music does, right?
Because.
Because you think about it as you're listening to these things, they. They permeate your subconscious mind, right? Because I remember I used to listen to that stuff. Like, you know, I would have my headphones in when I was a teenager, listen to, you know, all this stuff, you know, talking about street life, you know, like I said, shooting, killing, you know, against the people, or you want.
To look like them, you want to sound like them, you know, so it's.
Like it's ingrained in your subconscious mind. And now it's like when I go places, I'm automatically thinking about those things that either, you know, somebody's gonna try to shoot me or, you know, because.
Of what I look like, oh, my God, I got on the wrong colors. You know, what neighborhood am I in? Like, you can know that's real.
You're playing a dice game, and it's like, you want to be hard, right? You lost now. You want to be. You got to. You got to rep how gangster you are, right? Instead of whatever, right? How gangster or hard. Whatever, right? And then next thing you know, you know, taking a life, somebody. So that's. So brings me back to also my. I think, one of my favorite movies of all time. Right, Belly? Right?
Oh.
Oh, right.
Well, why, kid?
Yeah, you know. You know that scene in the restaurant, you know, with DMX and the two young men? You know, it's like. It was like, wise and like kids. They were arguing about who was, you know, how they had. How they handle themselves, you know, in a. You know. You know. You know, in a shaky situation. School money with y', all, Right? You know what I'm saying? Right, Right. He's like. He wanted to show how hard he was, you know, how he handled himselves, you know, And Buddy called him. I was like, nah, man, you was shook, man. He was, you know, he was scared. Like, a little, you know, look a little.
You ain't tough. You ain't hard.
You ain't tough. He's like, man, it's like they put his gun on the table. Like, you know, bow, like, you know.
You ain't going to do nothing.
What you going like, what? It's like, he's like. It's like. He's like, I'm going show you a beat, right? But the other dude was real gangster. He just pulled it out and just black, like. He put like, you gonna put it on the table? Yeah, but it was just like. But it's like. And Then think about it, right? That movie is so powerful. The whole beginning of the movie shows, you know, the drug dealing, the gangsters, you know, all this. You know, the thug life, the street life. You're in that.
But this is the life that they glorify.
Yeah, but then that scene happens. You know, Bundy, who's the ringleader, essentially, who's, you know, the most gangster of them all, Right? You know, because Nas was like, man, you know, they were running through red. You were driving on a car, and Bundy, you know, DMX runs the red light. And. And Nas is like, you just ran the red light. He's like, I don't care. I'm out here smoking weed, speeding. You know what I'm saying? Like, they can't touch me. I'm untouchable. Right? X is going in. Nas is just like, man, what's the purpose of life was? And X is like, money, dog. Get this money, dog. You know what I'm saying? So X is going in. But then it's like, fast forward. That scene happens was, you know, bust. You know, he shoots like, kid right there in the restaurant. And Bundy's just like, man, he just rolls up and just parks right there. He gets locked up. Goes. So he gets locked up and goes into prison. But then guess what happened while he's in prison? He gets recruited and offered a deal that if he somehow goes undercover in this, you know, black religious organization and kills the leader, be a mole and kills the leader, then he would be free.
Right?
That movie was just so interesting.
Very powerful.
Like, this is really happening.
It's really happening. Exactly.
Stuff is being staged. People are being plotted. Moles have been people that end up with, you know, desperate situations where they're facing. Where they're facing 20 to life. And that's like. They get them to go infiltrate an organization that's uplifting the black people to take out their leader, right? Then at the end, it's like, it's him and, you know, supposedly this person, Right?
Yeah.
And he's trying to, you know, he. But the thing about it is, in the movie, Bunny then goes through. Once he infiltrates the, you know, the organization, he actually begins to read and studies and becomes conscious. Becomes conscious because he was unconscious.
Right.
Anyways, I know it was a blabbing long story.
Yeah. That we see. That was one of your favorite movies all time, right?
