Debunking The Stress Relief of Porn

Samir Gardner argues that porn doesn't actually relieve stress, just distracts from it. Stress is a mental interpretation only the mind can change, so any relief is placebo. Reframing stress as beneficial challenge, not threat, eliminates the urge to use porn as a coping tool.

All right, so guys, today we're gonna debunk stress once and for all, okay? Because again, one of the main reasons why people watch porn is either, okay, for stress or, you know, relief in general, so emotional relief, whether it be anxiety, depression, whatever, or pleasure or sexual relief, okay? These are the big 3 ones, okay? Now, stress. Stress is very, very important to kind of like debunk because if you think that porn will relieve your stress, then, you know, whenever you feel stressed, which happens quite frequently nowadays, you know, you're probably going to indulge in it. So, um, that's what usually happens. And remember, you don't watch porn when you feel good. You watch porn when you feel some kind of like negative, um, emotions. And most of the time that can be stress or anxiety. Okay, so let's debunk stress once and for all so that you never ever even want to watch porn when you feel stressed, anxious, or negative overall, okay? I've done a video on pleasure, go and watch it right after this video if you wanna debunk pleasure because pleasure is a big one as well. And you can just, you know, take some time out of your life so that you never even want to watch porn or masturbate for the rest of your life when you feel stressed, anxious, or when you want pleasure, or when you want sexual relief, okay? So look, what is stress first of all, okay? There's a lot of misconceptions about stress. Stress is in your mind, okay? It's, it's thoughts, okay? And those thoughts are kind of like a— and I have my notes here, so if I'm looking down, it's normal. Um, stress is kind of like you assessing that the situation might represent some harm or loss, okay? So, um, you're kind of like interpreting that you might lose something or that you might get harmed, right? So for example, the other day I was at an Airbnb, I was like at a chalet, right? And I felt stressed because there, we went, it was a crazy story, but we went to see another house in the middle of the night because we heard screaming, right? I felt stressed because in my mind I interpreted that maybe it's something dangerous that I might get killed for, right? So I felt stressed, but If I interpreted that nothing was wrong and it was just one of my friends joking in nature for no reason at midnight, then I will feel no stress, okay? Because I'm interpreting that this might have harm or loss, okay? Now look, okay, you gotta ask also yourself, okay, that because stress is in your thoughts, so the only way you could relieve it is by your own mind. Okay, you can only relieve it by your own mind. You cannot relieve it physically. Okay, it's not a physical thing. Some people might argue that it's physical, but what happens is your mind influences your body, which influences, um, you know, the stress. So basically, right, if you want to— if you feel, for example, tension physically, if you feel like, um, if you, if you're shaking, but the thing is that most people understand is that you need to mentally, um create this feeling inside of your body because your mind literally can control your body, okay? I mean, your mind literally controls your body. It can affect in any shape, uh, or any way your body physically, okay? That, that's what you need to understand. Uh, if I'm talking a bit too fast right now, so I'm gonna slow it down, but stress is in your thoughts. It's just an interpretation of, okay, is this situation going to present harm or loss? That's it, okay? And if you, if you just understand this, you can literally debunk stress. Okay, but let me just give you more information. The thing you gotta ask yourself about porn, which doesn't make sense, okay? And shout out, not shout out, but like the porn industries are the one that kind of like created this thing of, oh, you watch porn, man. You had a hard day at work, you go and watch porn and relax, right? It's kind of like this marketing and we kind of have this belief based on other people experiences and based on also NoFap who has been telling us that you watch porn to relieve your stress, you gotta understand that, you know, that's what created this belief because generally, like, just think about it. Imagine that there's a kid in the middle of nowhere that never ever watched porn or masturbated and you tell him that, you know, porn, if you watch porn, you're gonna relieve your stress. So for example, let's say that this kid is stressed for because one of his parents died, right? Now look, you're not gonna tell him go and watch porn because he's gonna be like, what the heck is this gonna do? This is not gonna relieve my stress in any shape or form. He knows it objectively, he knows it naturally, it's not gonna do anything. It has no power to relieve his stress or to, you know, take away his pain. But we do in the Western world because we have been told that porn is this magical thing that has special chemicals that will relieve your stress, and that created a false belief that we actually believe to be true. And because of that, whenever we watch porn, we have an active placebo inside of our mind that creates the stress relief, okay? Because the only way to actually relieve your stress is by your own mind and not by anything, okay? And this is what we're gonna cover. So you gotta ask yourself, let's just debunk it a little bit, okay? How can porn, make you feel stress, okay? When you, when you watch it, or before you watch it, you most of the time you have like this fast heartbeat of like, you know, I feel, um, you know, anxious about watching. I feel like kind of like tense and stressed about watching porn. And at the same time, it relieves your stress, okay? So I'm not saying it does, I'm just saying that that's what people say, okay? It relieves, um, your stress. So what we need to understand is how can something do both things at the same time? How can something relieve your stress but at the same time make you feel stress? That doesn't make sense, okay? And the only conclusion that we can get from that is that it's because stress is in the mind. In the mind, okay? It's really that simple, okay? Um, because if porn had like a special chemical of, you know, of, uh, you know, relieving your stress by giving more oxygen to a specific part of your, your brain, then just ask yourself this one thing, okay? Imagine that you, you watch porn, okay? Let's say that you watch— okay, this is not working. Let's say that you watch porn to relieve your stress, okay, to relieve stress. But then, okay, you actually relieve stress, uh, you feel good, you don't, you don't feel, uh, stress anymore. I'm going to explain why you actually feel the stress relief, okay. You actually relieve the stress. Now, now that you actually relieve the stress Imagine, okay, I'm going to write this in another color so you can actually understand, okay? But imagine that you have here, okay? Imagine that someone walks up on you. So if someone walks up on you and whether you believe that porn chemically relieves your stress or whether you believe that porn just as a special superpower and some form of magic, and because you're reproducing with so many women, even if you have any kind of belief in your mind about porn, or you think that porn objectively relieves your stress, whatever, would you really, okay, and this is a real question I'm asking, if someone walks up on you in the middle of you watching porn, would you really not feel stressed? Would you really just keep being calm and relaxed and just keep on watching porn because evolution, because of evolution and because of biology, because you, uh, you, you feel calm and you're just naturally not going to feel stressed because you're in the middle of watching porn? No, most people will feel extremely stressed out, will feel very stressed out, because what we need to understand is that stress relief happens in the mind. Stress relief happens in the mind because the moment that you stop putting the focus on porn, or the moment that you just stop, um, think— I mean, the moment that you start thinking about the stressful situation in front of you, you feel stressed. So porn doesn't relieve you, relieve it chemically, because if it did relieve stress chemically because of the dopamine and the pixels of the screen and because you're masturbating then you will literally not feel stressed even if someone walks up on you, even if, you know, one of your family members walks up on you. That's what you need to understand, okay? So that's what you need to— we need to understand that it's all in the mind. Stop believing all of these NoFap lies that, oh, you're watching porn because you're losing with so many women and all of those things, which makes zero sense, okay? So how do you actually relieve stress, okay? Let me give you a small masterclass on this because most people think that, you know, it's just cause and effect of like, I watch porn, it releases my stress, that's it, right? But that's not what happens, okay? There's two aspects. And I don't know why my pens are barely working, but look, there's two aspects. There's first the intention, okay? The intention to relieve the stress. I'm gonna explain that, okay? Um, and there's like the, this, the small distraction, okay? I'm gonna say small because even though the distraction is not really what's really relieving the stress, it's more so, um, something that people use as a tool, um, to kind of not even relieve stress but just to do something else, okay? So look, the attention— what I mean by attention is that the moment that you relieve the stress is not the moment you watch porn, it's not the moment that you take drugs, it's not the moment you take alcohol, It's the moment that you say, fuck it. Okay, and sorry for using swear language. I don't like using swear language, but that's what people say in their own mind, right? They just say, you know what, fuck it, let me just stop thinking about this stressful situation. It's really that simple. The moment, and you can look at it, which is imagine that you feel very stressful because you have like this exam tomorrow, or you might go to work tomorrow. And you need to wake up early and you need to do all of those things. And you remember, stress is in your mind, right? It's all in the mind because you anticipate that you might lose or there might be an arm in front of you, right? Now, the moment that you say, fuck it, the moment that you say, you know what, I don't wanna keep thinking about this stressful situation, is the moment that you relieve the stress. Why? Because just look at yourself, right? Let's say the last moment that you washboard because you felt stress, you were not really feeling the stress relief when you were washing board. Most of the time we feel stressed when we are washing board because we think, oh my God, this is something bad and I shouldn't do it because I'm gonna feel bad afterwards. We actually feel stress when we're washing board, which shows that it's all in the mind, right? But also the moment you actually feel the stress relief is the moment you say, you know what, let me just stop thinking about this stressful situation. Let me just do something else. Let me just watch more. Let me just go for a walk. Most people just go for a walk and it relieves their stress, not because the walk contains special chemicals and dopamine and serotonin and it rewires your brain in different ways or whatever, right? It's just because they say, you know what, fuck it, you know, I don't want to keep thinking about stressful things anymore and I just want to take a break from that. That's simple. You know, the moment that you— let's say that you're working on a project, right? And that project is very stressful to you. Well, if you say, you know what, I'm gonna stop working on that project for the moment being, and I'm gonna do something else, or I'm just gonna, you know, stop thinking about that project, then you're gonna be less stressed because you're not thinking about the stressful situation. It's really that simple. The moment that you decide to not think of that stressful situation is the moment that the stress will just disappear. You're doing it with your own mind. You're not doing it because of porn. You're not doing it because of the walk. You're just doing it because you want to do it. Okay, so this is very, very key. So it's the moment that you say, you know what, let me stop thinking about, about the stress, right? Okay, that's what relieves the stress. It's you deciding to relieve it because we do it with many emotions, but It's more so this Western society that has this kind of thought belief that, you know, we have, for example, if we feel stressed, then we have no control over it. But the reality is, you know, we have control over our own emotions. We are our own mind. We can control anything. We, you know, we have mental autonomy. Okay, it's really that simple. But now if you go to the distraction, okay, the distraction, then what it does, and it's not really anything because How can I say, like the distraction, let's say that you watch porn and you're really just focused on watching porn, then obviously you're gonna feel stressed because you're not focused on the stressful situation, you're focused on porn, your mind is focused on porn, right? And that's why when someone walks up on you, you're not focused on porn anymore, so you feel stressed because you start thinking about the other stressful situation in front of you, right? So the stress doesn't disappear chemically or it doesn't make you feel better, it doesn't relax you when you watch porn, but rather it's just that you focus on something else. So porn is not special, it doesn't have any special chemical, okay? So the small distractions just basically doesn't even help you, okay? And that's one another thing we need to understand, which I'm gonna cover, is that sometimes facing stress is a good thing, but the small distraction can be accomplished by doing anything, okay? It can be anything. I can look at this whiteboard and just focus on it and start thinking about the video I'm gonna make, and it's gonna relieve my stress if I'm thinking about something else stressful, okay? I can go and look outside of my balcony and start looking at something else and say, you know what, I'm gonna stop thinking about the stress, let me just distract myself by looking at people walking down the street. That's it, okay? There's nothing special about porn, there's nothing special about masturbation, there's nothing special about me looking at other people walking. There's nothing special about me taking a walk. There's nothing special about me playing sports because it's all in the mind. I'm just giving myself a small distraction, right? That's what you need to understand is I can be anything. It can be anything. And you're not— I'm not saying to replace porn with another distraction because you cannot replace something that is not useful. You cannot have a substitute for something that has generally no value, like porn. Porn is just a video on the screen, right? So it can be anything, okay? The distraction can be anything, okay? Um, now what happens, okay, and people do this with masturbation, uh, not porn because porn, you're literally looking at porn, but with masturbation more specifically, there is a physical sensation, okay? So there is a physical sensation that we cannot deny, right? It's a physical sensation. Some people, most people attribute it as pleasurable, but it's not inherently pleasurable because if it was inherently pleasurable, then you would get pleasure from, I don't wanna get too graphic, but you will get pleasure from another dude jerking you off, right? And most people won't get any pleasure from that, right? You will get pleasure from getting jerked off by, I'm not gonna get too much details, but you know what I mean, right? So it's not very pleasurable. It's not really gonna relieve the stress. It's a physical sensation. But what people do mentally, which relieves the stress, is they say, oh, I'm feeling this sensation, I'm relieving my stress. It's not the physical sensation that's relieving the stress. It's the mental kind of like knowing, the mental, like this mindset that, you know, oh, this physical sensation, I'm feeling it, so that means I can relieve my stress. Some people do this with, you know, cutting themselves, right? And that's a very popular example used, you know, I see on YouTube a lot, is like when you're cutting yourself, let's say for example, emo girl is just cutting herself, right? She's gonna relieve her stress and she's gonna attribute the physical sensation that cannot relieve the stress but she's going to attribute the physical sensation of cutting her arm as a stress reliever. It can be anything. Okay. Imagine, and I always like to say to people, imagine that someone looks at you from a third perspective and sees you jerking off and you tell them, oh, it's because I'm trying to relieve my stress. Then, you know, if you just look at it from a third perspective, it doesn't make sense, right? How can you relieve yourself by stimulating your own genitals, right? We need to understand that we relieve those stress because of our beliefs and not because of the act itself, okay? The physical sensation, I can literally masturbate and feel this physical sensation and think, oh, this is, this is relieving my prostate cancer. And then I start feeling better. Or I can think, you know, I'm masturbating and this is relieving, it can be anything, right? I can be like, I'm masturbating and this is gonna kill my testicles. I can think anything. And then I literally start feeling pain within my testicles. I can attribute that physical sensation to anything, or what you can do, which is very simple, is just realize that masturbation is just a physical sensation. Physical sensation. It cannot relieve your stress, it cannot relieve your quote-unquote depression, cannot relieve anxiety, cannot relieve sexual relief, it cannot relieve anything. It's a physical sensation. That's it. Okay, that's what we need to understand. Now look, okay, people also, just to even give you more proof about that, imagine that you drink and drive, right? Imagine that you You know, I don't drink alcohol, but we all know people that drink and drive. And when you drink and drive, you know, most people, you have kind of like this scenario that people are just enjoying themselves, right? They're enjoying their life so much when they're under the influence of alcohol and they're kind of like relieving the stress because they're not thinking about their other, you know, life, you know, responsibilities and things of that nature, right? Now look, when you're drinking and driving, you might think, oh, you know, you're relieving your stress because you're ingesting alcohol, which has, you know, an effect on your consciousness and has an effect on your body, right? So you might think that you're relieving your stress. But imagine drinking and driving and a police starts chasing, okay? Imagine that that's what happens, okay? Let me just for this. Imagine that literally the police just starts chasing you. Are you really just gonna feel calm and happy because you're under the influence of alcohol? Most people just feel stressful, feel stressed out, even if they're under the influence of so much alcohol. Even if we all know that alcohol, um, diminishes the ability to just like think normally, right? It's like it slows down the ability to just think, and that's why people sometimes crash. But, um, the moment that you interpret that you must feel, you know, there's a stressful situation in front of you and you start thinking about it, so, you know, you're literally gonna feel stressed. So that shows that alcohol cannot relieve your stress. And that's literally alcohol that is ingested inside of your body and actually has bodily sense, uh, you know, uh, effects on you. Okay, that's for alcohol. okay? And there's a very popular story if you read, for example, the Freedom Model, or if you read any of the book like the Cult of Pharmacology. If you read book from Alfred Lindsmith, you know, all the experts on drug and alcohol quote-unquote addictions, they talk about, for example, there's this story. I'm not sure where in which book exactly it talks about it, but there's this heroin user, okay? And it's a very fascinating story when you really understand it because this heroin user goes to his mom's house, right? And his mom doesn't know that he actually takes heroin like on a daily basis. And one day he's at his mom's house and he feels stressed. So he's like, you know what, I want to take the heroin because I want to relieve my stress, right? So, you know, he has the needles, he puts, I mean, you know, obviously he takes the heroin. And now what happens is he relieves the stress, he feels good, you know, he's on the couch, he's just like feeling relaxed. He feels, you know, obviously relieved the stress because, you know, of the routine of just taking the heroin. And most people argue because of the chemical effect that it has on the body, right? Now look, the heroin user is just like this. Now what he didn't realize is that he dropped the bag of needle with the heroin. Um, and sorry, I cannot I don't know why I cannot pronounce this drug, heroin, right? But the bag of needle dropped on the floor, right? And now because the bag of needle dropped on the floor, his mom actually saw the bag of needle with the drug, okay? And she walks up on him and shows him the bag of needle and starts screaming at him because she didn't know that he was taking drug. And for her, that's unacceptable. Unacceptable. So guess what? The guy that was taking heroin, he didn't just stay on the couch feeling relaxed because chemically talking, you know, heroin relieves your stress, it makes you feel so good, it makes you feel on top of the world and gives you this euphoric feeling. No, it wasn't just on the couch like this, like, ah, I feel so good. Even if she screams at me, I'm feeling relaxed. I cannot really comprehend what she's talking about. No, he started feeling so stressed. This guy started feeling so stressed out, even under the influence of the drug itself, that he literally went in his car and didn't see any family members for a whole week and lived in his car for a whole week because he felt so stressed about it. Look, he was under the influence of the drug, but still he's never, you know, he's still, I mean, he's still not, he still wasn't feeling the stress. I mean, he still was feeling the stress even though that, even though he was under the influence of drugs. Sorry, my mind is going in many different ways right now, but you understand what I mean here, okay? But another thing I wanna retouch upon, okay? And I talked about this in a recent reel on Instagram. You don't wanna live a life problems-free, okay? A lot of people think that, you know, they always need to cope out with life, right? And that's kind of like a dangerous mindset in my opinion, right? I'm not saying that it should be a dangerous mindset, but a lot of people, you see this modern-day movement of always wanting to feel good, always wanting to just, you know, feel good about anything, right? They always feel like, you know, things should be for them and not against them, right? And there's power in just accepting that life, you know, will have challenges, will have problems, right? And one of the really like key, okay, this is so key that it changed my life, is just starting to see problems as a beneficial thing rather than a detrimental thing, okay? So what I mean by that is, let's say for example, okay, that I have a problem. Let's say that For example, one thing that happened to me as of recently was I was, for example, I'm just trying to think of an event. Like recently I was at Airbnb, okay? So I was at the Airbnb at a chalet basically. And we were like, close to the forest. I mean, you can't say like not in the middle of the forest, but like, you know, next to the road in nature, right? Uh, somewhere where there's not much people that live, they just live like this kind of like, um, lifestyle where they just, you know, go to the beach. They, the— it's like a small town basically, that's what I'm trying to explain. And we went to the Airbnb and we heard screaming at night. And, you know, it happened like for 2 days in a row where we heard dreaming at night, okay? And the old me will be like, oh my God, you know, this is stressful. I don't want to, you know, confront this. I don't want to go and see, you know, what's happening, right? But in my mind— and this is kind of crazy, but I'm just trying to show, um, how the mind is so powerful— but in my mind, I was like, you know what, I'm feeling stressed about this, but I think, you know, I want to, um, get a challenge that would actually help me grow. And let me just, you know, face this stressful thing. Let me just go. You know what we went— what we did is we went— all of our friends, we just went, um, all of my friends, I mean, we just went and confronted this lady that was screaming. And because it seemed very scary, because it seemed like it was like an horror movie, okay? And in my mind, I was like, I was feeling stressed, but I perceived the stress to be beneficial, so I wanted to just get more of it, and I decided to just go and confront her. And we went there and this lady started screaming at, because basically to just kind of tell a story, the lady was, you know, lost her dog and she saw the dog got hit by a car, right? And she was an old lady, so the dog meant a lot to her, right? So she just started screaming in distress because she didn't want to accept the fact that her dog died. So what happened is, you know, it was very scary. We thought like the woman would literally kill us. But because I perceived the stress and the anxiety and just facing the challenges upfront and not escaping from it as a beneficial thing, because I thought that will help me grow as a man, I just did it, right? And you gotta understand that, you know, this is kind of like an extreme case, but just if you can perceive, okay, and this is, um, very key and kind of like, it's not even about the— I'm not even debunking anymore. I'm just saying, if you can perceive stress, okay, to be beneficial, then literally you won't even feel like watching porn in most cases, right? So it's one thing to debunk the stress, and this is very important to debunk the stress with porn. But if you just perceive, okay, stress to be a beneficial thing that will help you grow as a man, for example, because me back then when I used to watch like Andrew Tate, I don't watch him anymore, more. It's been a long time, but when I used to watch him for the first time, he would say something like, you know, the more stress you can take as a man, the more successful you'll be. Or he'll say things like, you know, um, if you just, um, um, if you face stress and trauma, you're gonna be able to grow as a man. And because of that, you're gonna be a better leader. You're gonna be able to lead people. You're gonna be able to, uh, gain respect from people. And I started making so much benefits, to stress that, you know, for me, stress wasn't about like feeling stressed about something. For me, stress was not about— let me just write this in another color— it was about being stronger, okay? It was about literally being a better leader, better leader. You know, I started linking so much benefits to stress that whenever I would feel a stressful situation, I didn't want to cope out with that. I didn't want to cope out of the stressful situation. I didn't want to go for a walk. I didn't want to go for porn, obviously not, but for masturbation or even for any small thing. What I would do instead, I would just like use that stressful situation. I would just like feel the stress and I would be almost grateful for it. I would be like, you know what, this is bringing me up as a man. Let me just face it. Let me just face the stress. And I realized that it was easy to face it, first of all, but also it was beneficial to me. But also that, you know, it would just build me up. So I would just be like, you know what, I don't need to cope out with stress. I don't need to cope out if I feel anxious. I'm going to use it to my advantage instead, you know. And Ever since then, every single time that I feel stressed nowadays, um, I would just use it to my advantage and use it as motivation to work harder on whatever I'm doing, right? And I just— it was that simple, okay? Um, and also, I'm gonna make a whole video about debunking why trauma is not linked to porn on this whiteboard right here. But, um, there is studies, and I can link the studies down below. I forgot to write them down. I'm gonna talk about other studies, but it shows that 40% of people— and I might be wrong because I don't know if it's 40 or 60%, there's two different studies— but 40% of people with mental disorders— I'll make sure to put them in the description so you can actually read those studies— 40% of people with mental disorders have some form of addiction. Okay, only 40% of them have an addiction addiction. Okay, what I mean by mental disorders, that can be, for example, anxiety, depression, you know, feeling stressed. And, you know, most of the time, like extreme cases, okay, only 40% of them have an addiction. The other 60% don't have some form of mental disorders and, you know, still have an addiction. So that shows that it's not about the problems that you have in life that creates the addiction or the want to watch porn, but rather it's the belief that, you know, if you— I mean, I'm just saying that you, if you— we don't, like, objectively talking, like, naturally talking, we know that, you know, porn cannot relieve or cure any problems in our lives, right? We know that, right? But, you know, the problem comes when you believe it can, okay? Because the beliefs are so powerful, they actually can create an active placebo and actually create something inside of you, right? So 40% of people with mental disorders have an addiction, okay? There's another study on this. I've talked about it in past videos, but look, okay, that just shows that, you know, it's not because you have a problem in life that, you know, or you have some form of emotional pain that you're gonna straight watch porn, right? Because most people, you know, they live the worst kind of like conditions Yet, you know, for example, people go through a tsunami, they go through catastrophic events, yet they don't watch porn, yet they don't drink alcohol, yet they don't take drugs because they don't perceive those things to be helping them. That's it, because they don't perceive. It's in the mind, okay? And that's another thing, you don't need to be promise-free to live a porn-free life. You know, you can just perceive the problems in your life as a challenge that will be actually beneficial to you. And boom, you're halfway there. And then the other, uh, act that you need to do is just to understand that even if you feel the worst you ever felt in your entire life, porn cannot believe anything because you're the one believing those, uh, those negative emotions. Okay, it's really that simple. So look, okay, there's this study, um, in the Archives of General Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University Okay, where they took 15 depressed guys and basically they gave them— why am I writing like this? Okay, they took 15 depressed guys and it was depressed/ansious. Okay, let me just write depressed/ansious. So, you know, we know that stress anxiety, whatever, it's kind of like the same thing. You know, you might argue not, but I don't care, but it's all in the mind. So look, they took a placebo, okay? These guys were kind of like, were kind of like, how do you say, like they were basically interested in the price frequently, okay? And they took a placebo to basically reduce the their stress and anxiety. And guess what? And the depression, whatever. And they saw that there was a 43%, okay, 43%, um, score. So what I mean by that is like 43% of them basically like relieved their stress, anxiety, or whatever, okay? And it was basically, uh, the same result as, as if they were to actually take real antidepressants and real medication. Medication, but they just took a placebo. They just took a pill which had nothing. They just took something that was empty, and what happened is their own mind actually decreased the stress and anxiety. It's crazy, okay? It's your own mind, okay? And the depression, whatever, okay? Now look, New York Times, 1998, did a review on placebo with antidepressants. Okay, so antidepressants is a big business. Okay, it's a big business that started in the 1970s or even before that, and it's been one of the big reasons why people have depression nowadays. I've actually made a video about that. You can watch it. It's called The Story of Japan with Addiction: What You Can Learn from Japan. I don't remember the exact title, but it's in one of my recent videos. And basically, okay, they found that in that study that antidepressants and placebo literally, okay, this is crazy, worked as well. Like, they literally had the same results, okay? They had the same results. So what we can get from that is that the real antidepressant that is ingested in the body and is known to kind of have like a bodily sensation, whatever, and we have a placebo which literally has nothing, had the same results. So that means that the mind is more powerful than the drug itself. Do you understand? And with porn and masturbation, when we link back to that, we understand that porn and masturbation literally, you know, porn is lifeless video, masturbation is a physical sensation. Both of them are not ingesting the body, so that means that they cannot produce, you know, kind of— I mean, masturbation, obviously, like a physical sensation, but if we look at porn, it has no effect on us, okay? Or for example, this is very interesting. I'm gonna just name it. When I say those things, you can actually search them up if you want to, you know, make your— do your own research. Don't just believe me blindly. Because that will be done. Uh, you need to come to your own conclusion, and also that doesn't mean that everything I say is true, okay? You need to really, um, study yourself. So Stanley, uh, Shaster and Jerome Singer in 1962, they actually, okay, they gave humans adrenaline, okay? I remember the first time I took adrenaline was when I have a nut allergy, right? I have nut allergy, and one time I ate, uh, nuts, and because of that they had to took me in the ambulance because I started like feeling, I mean, I had the signs of someone who had an allergic reaction, right? And when I went to the hospital, they gave me adrenaline, okay? Man, I started feeling, I started to sweat so much. I started feeling like I was about to die. I swear, like I went from feeling just relaxed to feeling like I'm about to explode, okay? From just taking adrenaline, okay? And they said that in this study, okay, they said that they gave the— basically we call this, let me just find it— they gave them adrenaline and they said that actually, they said to the subjects in the study that it was just a vitamin they were testing, okay, they were testing. Now look, you know what happened in that study when they were testing that vitamin? Is that because, you know, I mean, it wasn't a vitamin. They just made them believe that they were testing vitamin, while in reality they were giving them adrenaline. Okay, what happens is they did not produce any— okay, the adrenaline that they actually gave them did not produce any psychological effects, okay? Psychological effects. And that goes to show that, you know, again, if you believe that it's not gonna, you know, produce any psychological effects because you believe it's a vitamin, for example, then it's not gonna happen. It's all in the mind. Same thing goes with stress. If you believe that porn doesn't relieve stress, then you're not gonna relieve the stress because you need— because stress is relieved in the mind, you know, the psychological psychological effects happen in the mind, okay? That's what we need to understand, okay? And I have many students, for example, um, that used to watch porn mainly because of stress. But the moment that they debunked the stress and realized that they were the one creating the stress relief, they realized that not only porn cannot give them, you know, stress relief, so they did not want porn when they felt stressed, but also, uh, you know, help them, you know, understand that stress is not something that you should be, um, kind of like, you know, putting too— putting too much on a pedestal, meaning that you shouldn't just be like, oh my God, I feel stressed, so that's a bad thing. But I actually see stress as a good thing. They just never ever want to watch porn when they feel stressed. It's really that simple, okay? Um, you know, it's really that simple at the end of the day, because you— and you can do anything to, to relieve your stress, right? So people go do sports. Some people read a book. Some people pray. Some people run. Some people look at a wall. Some people meditate. Some people just stop thinking. Stop thinking. Like, it's really— and I'm not saying that you should replace porn with any of those because you cannot replace again something that is not valuable inherently, right? It needs to have value for it to be replaced. But porn doesn't relieve stress, but you have all of these, um, ways to just— it's not even— you're not even relieving your stress by playing sports. It's just that you know that once you'll be playing sports, you're not going to be thinking because you choose to not be thinking about the stressful situation. You can be in the middle of playing sports and still think about stressful situation, but most of the time you just decide to not think about stress because the moment you choose to release stress is the moment you release stress. It's really that simple. And you can use reading a book as a kind of like cue to tell yourself that, okay, you know what, I'm gonna stop thinking about stress when I'm reading that book. It's really that simple. Okay, so I At the end of the day, um, there's two things, okay? Your mind— and this is just the conclusion— your mind relieves the stress. Okay, this is not working again. So the conclusion is that your mind relieves the stress, okay? And the second thing, and this is very powerful, is that you can perceive stress to be beneficial. Okay, so once you do those two things, trust me, you'll never even want to watch porn. And, you know, a big thing is, you know, I kind of have this mindset, and this is just me. I admire a lot— I don't worship, I just admire a lot of the greats, the great people that just accomplished accomplish a lot in life, whether that be Alexander the Great, whether that be Julius Caesar, like, you know, all of these big people that conquered a lot and did a lot of big things that nowadays we don't really do, we see that, you know, stress is not even something that they care about. You know, they're so focused on something bigger that they link more benefits to that, you know, whenever they feel stress, for them it's just a good thing because it's like, okay, I feel stressed, it's normal because I'm trying to achieve something which has more benefits, right? So it's really that simple, okay? Don't overcomplicate it. Your mind relieves the stress, porn doesn't, masturbation doesn't. If you perceive the stress as beneficial, you will, you know, not even want to, um, I mean, you'll not even care if you face stress. You'll actually be like, oh, you know what, this is a good thing. You're not gonna feel like you need to cope out with many different things or anything, right? So really, if you can just get those two things from that video, you'll be able to just never ever really just overall feel like you need to watch porn or masturbate when you feel stressed. So if you want to also debunk pleasure, which is very, very crucial, I have a video, I'll link it down below in the description. But you can go on my channel and watch it. It's called Debunking the Pleasure of Porn, and you'll be able to understand how to debunk pleasure and do the same thing so that you feel like porn has no pleasure and you'll never want to watch one because of that. So that's it for the video. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Leave a comment, ask me questions about these things, and I'll reply to you.
