Why Comfort Keeps You Stuck in Porn

Samir Gardner, a coach who has helped hundreds quit porn, says comfort is the real trap. He moved out with no income and worked until 4 a.m. to pay rent, which forced him to change. His method: make clients pay for coaching and set hard deadlines so they have no choice but to act.

I've been helping people for the past few years overcoming porn masturbation. I have helped hundreds of men. I've struggled with this myself and I overcame this struggle myself. And I'll tell you one thing right now, a lot of men, they don't stay stuck just because they love porn too much or just because there's too much stress in their life or because they're too addicted. A lot of men, including me in the past, we live life on repeat. We do the same things Every single day, the same comfortable routine that we think is productive. We stay in a room, we work the same job, or we do the same things in business, and we're comfortable. We don't have pressure. We don't have our back against the wall. We don't have to truly change. And that's the thing. We don't have to truly change. Think about it. If you've been trying to quit porn for the past few years, it's not that you don't know the techniques. You've probably tried every single technique you can think of. The willpower, maybe you read Easy Peasy, maybe you try to keep yourself busy, you try to pursue certain goals, and nothing really works, nothing really sticks. There's no real change. And sometimes you gotta look at your life, your day-to-day. When was the last time you truly had to change? I'm saying you were forced to change or else some consequences would occur. For most men, if you're in your late 20s or in your 30s, You've just been working the same job. You had no real responsibilities that were added to your life. There were no pressure to just essentially change. There's no marriage, there's no family, kids on the way. You're not taking risks. You're just living life on repeat. Same comfortable life where you open your laptop, you do some work, you do some research. Maybe you read a book, Maybe you go to the gym, you eat healthy. These things are great for sure. And of course, if you're consistent with them, you will see results, but you're not seeing the results that you actually want to quit porn, to quit masturbation permanently, to get married, to have a family, to have a successful business because you never truly made a commitment. You never truly put yourself in a situation where you had no other option but to change. But to make things happen. I always talk about my personal story of when I was younger and I decided to move out and get my own place. And I had no real income at that time. And at that time, because I was young, I was living at my parents' house and I would just repeat the same day-to-day routine. I was trying to get a sales job and I did get a sales job and I made $0. And then I got one sales job that made me $1,000 in sales. 6 months because I worked for 2 weeks, it didn't work out, I got fired because I didn't perform well. And then for 5 months I was just depressed in my room. I was consistent, I was disciplined still, like I would read books, I would work out, I would go to the gym, I would eat healthy, I would watch self-improvement videos. But I was just lonely in my room hoping that my life will just change, that suddenly I will just find the love of my life, that my projects, my business, or my job at that time would just blow up. Everything changed when I wasn't ready to change. When I put myself in a situation where I had to become the man that I wanted to be. I got an apartment, I got my own place in a pretty nice city, and I had to pay bills for the first time. And if you knew the growth that occurred within such a short period of time, because of having to make stuff happen. I didn't know how I was going to make money to pay for my apartment. But guess what? In that exact moment, I felt so uncomfortable because I signed the lease and I had a month and a half to make stuff happen. Guess what happened? I started working harder than ever. I would work up until 4 a.m. in the morning. My mind would be thinking of ways I could find a solution so I can make money and have a stable income. I remember at that time, my friend said, you don't even have savings or an income right now. Like, how are you going to make it happen? He said, get a job at a grocery store at least. And in my mind, I was like, dude, that's not an option. I can't. I can't. Because when I was 16, I used to work at a grocery store and I hated it. In that month and a half, I found a way out. I started making money for the first time. And that made me realize that once your back is truly against the wall, once you bet on yourself, The same growth that would take 5 years for you to make if you were to just repeat the same routine over and over again, if you were to just repeat the same routine, you will see it within 6 months. The thing that will take you 5 years, you'll get it 10 times faster. The progress, the growth will be 10 times faster. And that's the problem when it comes to quitting porn. Matter of fact, When I was looking at studies as to why people move on from addictions naturally without treatment, we see oftentimes that people that struggle with this, with substance abuse, so drugs and so on, they move as they gain responsibilities in life. Yes, it's unsexy. Yes, it's not that easy. But for example, they get married and then they're like, okay, I need to change. That doesn't mean that marriage is the solution because There's so many people I've coached and so many people still struggle with adult content despite having access to intimacy and getting married and having that responsibility. But naturally people move on also as they reach fatherhood, they have their first kid on the way. Again, still people watch porn whilst they are fathers, but that responsibility tremendously helps someone realize that now I truly need to make changes. Because why do you need to make changes now so that your life can be better? Like, there's no strong reasons to change. There's nothing forcing you to change. And I believe that's why our success rate when it comes to the coaching is high. It's not just the material that's presented. It's that they make the commitment physically, financially, that now I'm investing into this. Now I'm gonna put my time, my money, my focus. I'm taking that risk because it really saddens me as I've experienced this myself in the past. To just spend months and years repeating the same exact cycle. The problem is not just the porn and the shame and the guilt and how it's impacting maybe your spiritual life. These are obviously big consequences, but it's also seeing a year, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years pass by and you see little to no progress in life. It's the same life, the same routine. You said you wanted to travel the world, but you're still stuck in your hometown. You said you wanted to build a successful business to 6 or 7 figures, but your business is still at the same level. Or same thing with your career. You said you wanted to get married by now, you're in your 30s or late 20s, but you're still not fully ready. You still haven't taken the steps to commit to that. So it's not happening anytime soon. Then you get older. Now you're in your 30s, in your 40s. And it happened to me. I remember when I was younger and I was just there trying to work on my projects. I had a clothing brand at that time. I was working out. I was on the— was during the time I tried different diets like the vegan diet. I was also vegetarian for a period of time and that had a very bad negative impact on my health. But I remember just trying so hard to make stuff happen, repeating the same routine every day thinking I was disciplined because I would go for runs and I would work out and would eat healthy and would go on these dopamine detox and nothing was truly changing in my life. I felt like I was almost at the worst state and I was isolated. I had no friends. I'm telling you this because I had this discussion yesterday with one of my clients and I said, there's gotta be a time. And I'm, we're not talking about quitting porn specifically, it was more about his career and his business. I said like, there's gotta be a time where if stuff is not working for you, if you're repeating the same cycle, you gotta draw the line in the sand and put yourself in a position where you have to break that cycle. You have to break these patterns. And I was just being honest there because yes, it's not going to be comfortable. Yes, you might feel stressed out, overwhelmed. Once you put yourself in a position where you have no other option but to make stuff happen, But if you just stick to it, because you'll have to, you will see so much growth that you will start becoming comfortable facing the same exact problems that used to make you super uncomfortable and overwhelmed and stressed out. Now you become comfortable with them. Now they won't even be a problem to you anymore. And you'll be focused on the bigger things, the marriage, the family that you said that you wanted, the business, scaling it to the next level. So please stop repeating the same cycle over and over again. And I hope that this message doesn't come across as me trying to be passive-aggressive and just telling you, "Just man up, just do something." It's just that I've been there before in that cycle, and it's very hard. It really takes a toll on your mental, and we almost start feeling hopeless, and hopelessness is one of the worst feelings. Thinking that you can't get out of your situation just leads to depression. This is what depression is. It's you thinking that there's no better option and that your situation is just the way it is and you can't really do anything about it. That even if you were to try something, it probably wouldn't yield the results you would be looking for. Therefore, you just stay in a depressed state. And if you want help with this, there's a link in the description. You can book a call with me. If you want to get help when it comes to overcoming porn masturbation for good so you can change your life, go for the marriage, the family, scale your business. Now of course we will talk about my coaching. The call will give you a ton of clarity on your current situation, but I hope this message was helpful.
