How To Make Healthy Foods Taste Good

Samir Gardner explains how to make healthy food taste better by cutting sugar and refined carbs, which cause insulin spikes and constant cravings, and replacing them with nutrient-dense fats like avocado, nuts, and seeds. He recommends gradually reducing sweeteners a tablespoon at a time, learning recipes from YouTube, and eating less frequently to sharpen your hunger and flavor perception.

What's good, y'all? It's your boy Samir Gardner. Hope y'all doing good. So, bro, how to make eating healthy more interesting? I think I probably made a video on that, I don't really remember. But look, once you start eating healthy, bro, a lot of people think, okay, let's eat chicken, broccoli, and rice. Like, bro, it's not— it's not— that's not That's not cool, bro. You're gonna like eating plain rice and plain chicken and plain broccoli. Like, yeah, there's no— nothing wrong with that, but if you're giving up on your diet just because of this, because it doesn't taste good, like, bro, first of all, you need to rearrange your taste buds, okay? First of all, a lot of people eat too many carbs, too many sugar, bro. Like, I'm not saying— I'm not gonna say which carbs is bad, which carb is good, but You got to be conscious that when you eat too much sugar, right, it can be like any sort of sugar. If, if you know it's bad sugar, just know like, bro, you're never gonna feel full and you're always going to be craving more. Like, sugar is like this, bro. I don't know why. I don't— like, I've cut out sugar, to be honest. To be honest, I don't mess with sugar no more because you eat sugar and then— I'm not saying like straight sugar, but I'm saying like you put too much sugar in your meals and then you don't even feel full but you continue on eating and then 15 minutes later you feel like way too full. You gotta understand, sugar sparks insulin like too much, like way too much, bro. That's why I think, I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything, but if y'all remember, like I don't know if it's still like this, but the FDA or the USDA food pyramid, like the US food pyramid, basically. Like, on the pyramid, there was literally, like, at the bottom, it's literally bread, cereals, pasta, grain, grains, anything. Now the problem is, like, bro, it's not like, oh, don't eat bread, or, bro, but if your diet is like 80% or 50% or like even 40% just bread and pasta and just Cereals, like, bro, I'm gonna tell you, you're never gonna feel full. And what happens is, because you don't feel full and it spikes your insulin, you're just gonna eat more. That's just simple sense. Like, if you eat an avocado, you're not gonna crave more avocados. But if you eat straight— what's like cake? Like, bro, you're gonna eat like for 2,000 calories, you don't even care. Then that— actually, when you're on a healthy diet where you don't put like too much emphasis on sugar, on, you know, all the— all, you know, like the processed food, basically. When you don't put too much emphasis on the sugar and the processed food, you're gonna see like, bro, eating too much is hard, bro. It's hard. Like, I'm gonna be honest, you can literally eat like one meal a day if you eat like one big— one big meal. And I'm not saying to do this, but I'm just saying Once you start eating clean, you're not gonna crave any more food. Now lately I've been eating like a lot of like more like sort of less carbs but more like nutrient-dense things like chia seeds, hemp seeds, avocado, eggs, like things like this. But bro, what I realized is like, bro, I don't crave more foods. I don't— I'm gonna be honest, I kind of cut out sugar. And once you cut off sugar, bro, everything tastes way better, bro. I just literally made myself like broccoli with mushrooms, and I drizzled like olive oil on top and tahini and maybe salt, I don't remember. And bro, it tastes so good. I swear to God, it tastes so damn good. You just gotta rearrange your taste buds. So one of the tricks I can give y'all is, for example, if you do like 2 tablespoons of maple syrup in your things, like, or any syrup or any sugar, like 2 tablespoons, instead lower it, lower it down to like 1 and a half. You're not gonna see much of a big difference, and you're gonna get used to it. And then you can just reduce, reduce, and reduce, and maybe find an alternative. Like, some people like use these like sweetener, like stevia or something. I don't really know like much of these, about these sweeteners, so I don't really use them. But look, I, I'm not gonna say which sugar is bad, like which type of sugar is bad, which type of carbs is bad or anything, but just, bro, just be conscious. When you eat carbs too much, you're gonna crave more food. That's from my experience, and that's from a lot of people experience. When you still A lot of people think fat is gonna make them fat, but bro, it's the opposite, bro. Like, literally, it's the opposite. Except if you eat like freaking 25 tablespoons of olive oil a day, like, or any oils. But look, once you eat avocados, or maybe the chia seeds, the sesame seeds, the hemp seeds, like, then maybe the nuts, or, you know, the vegetables, the, the eggs, like, bro, you're gonna feel full and you're not gonna be left with, oh, I feel like eating, but at the same time I'm not very hungry. Like, I swear it's gonna, it's gonna disappear, to be honest. So that's how, like, I know I talk a lot, but bro, what you gotta remember is sugar and processed food. Once you cut them off, everything's gonna taste better. Your taste buds are gonna get better. When I got first on my diet, At first, bro, I used to hate fruits, bro. I used to never eat any sort of fruits. Once I eat like an apple, I'll get like, in my throat, it'll be like weird. Like it'll be like, I just wanna throw up. But now I eat like every fruit if I want. Like literally every fruit except for like kiwis and bananas. But like, you're gonna, Like, literally, like vegetables. You're gonna cook vegetables and you're gonna crave vegetables. Not craving in sense like you're gonna overeat, but you're gonna be like, man, I, I want, I want all those vegetables. Like, they taste good and everything. I swear it's like this, bro. It's like this. So you're not gonna just binge eat and do like just overeat because it tastes quote unquote good and you don't feel full. So another trick, bro, just go on YouTube. I I'll tell you, like, I don't care how many videos I'm gonna say this, but just go on YouTube and watch a recipe, bro. There's so many channels. Just on the top of my head, um, I follow like mainly like people that do like, uh, healthy like recipes, maybe vegan recipes and everything. But like Simply Quinoa, uh, I forgot their name, bro. Like, I forgot Just go like on Simply Kinwa's channel. She's like a girl who makes recipes, right? And like easy recipes. Like, well, to be honest, just go on her channel, just search up how to make— I don't know, more like how to make, uh, like she has like, oh, for example, uh, avocados recipes or hemp seeds recipes. Just search up this, it's easy like this. I'm gonna make videos too on how to make certain foods taste good and, you know, how to make, uh, certain recipes. But look, cooking is easy, bro. I don't know, like, how can it be hard if you literally have a video where the person literally does everything? And the person literally tells you every guidelines, every tips, everything. Like, even with the— they show you a video on how to, to cut the things. They show you the ingredients. Well, you don't have no excuse, bro. Just need the equipment. Just need the equipment and you're good. Even if you're free, even like an 8-year-old, 8-year-old can make this recipe. It's not because you're a man and you don't know how to cook that you can't cook, bro. To be honest, you can cook. I mean, you can do anything, to be honest. But look, search up on YouTube, bro. I swear YouTube has like literally every recipe you can think about. Like, bro, It can make you vegan recipes, it can make you keto recipes, it can make you like sugar-free recipes, carbs-free recipes, gut health recipes. Bro, there's literally everything, bro. And it also for the taste, how to make tasty avocados, tasty guacamole, tasty hemp seeds cookies. Like, bro, there's so much. There's so much, just go on YouTube and search yourself. So if I had a third step, what would it be like to eat more clean? 'Cause bro, I don't have a script right now. I don't script my videos much, so I don't know. I just made this video on the top of my head. But look, another thing you can make, you can do is try to eat less frequently, okay? I mean, this can be kind of controversial, But look, okay, just if you're someone who's very active— I'm not— you, it's your choice if you want to eat 18 times a day, if you want to eat 4 times a day, if you want to eat 9 times a day, bro, it's your choice, okay? But what I'm gonna say is when you feel hungry— I mean, when you feel hungry, that food is gonna taste way better. The food is gonna taste way better, and you're gonna see food as more like as an experience rather than just a job of eating because you had it, because you gotta eat, uh, in the day. But like, uh, the thing is, when you eat too much too frequently, the problem is, yeah, maybe it's great for bulking. I'm not— I don't bulk, but like, look, people for bulking, because you understand why people can eat like 7 meals a day, is every time you eat, it spikes insulin, and insulin makes you more hungry. That's why people fast for like 7 days and they feel like less hungry than someone who's eating like 7 meals a day. To be like, it literally is like this. Like, I fast sometimes and I just, I won't even be hungry towards the end. Like, it's, it'd be like this. But some people are starving in the morning just because they didn't get breakfast yet. Now you gotta understand, when you eat less, less frequently, you're just gonna get used to it. And maybe the food is gonna taste better if you're more hungry. I mean, when, when you're more hungry, the food is gonna taste better, bro. The food is— you're gonna see food as like, like I said, an experience. Because I think eating is an experience. But the thing is, people got too much food, so they're not really grateful for that experience. They're just eating, eating fast, as like eating fast as they can, bro. Eat mindful and eat slow, bro. That's it. Like that's some very, very, very healthy tips that I do like daily. I try to eat mindfully, like so I try to be conscious of the taste, like everything. Just be in the present moment, just, you know, training my brain to be more mindful and be more in the present moment so I don't like stress over things in the future. Because to be honest, if you're in the present moment, you cannot really think about anything. So, you know, that's it. And also, um, uh, what I said, like eating slowly. Just when you eat, when you eat mindfully, you'll eat slowly. Just eat, but just eat like an experience. To be honest, eating is an experience. And make your food taste good. Make your healthy food taste good, bro. Make your healthy food taste good. So that's it for the video. Hope you like it. Comment, share, subscribe, and like. Peace.
