it took me 2+ years of NoFap to realize what I'll tell you in the next 13 minutes

Samir Gardner, a porn-recovery coach, argues that men use PMO as an excuse to avoid action instead of pursuing their goals while still struggling with it. Confidence and momentum from taking action naturally diminish the behavior more than waiting for perfect abstinence first.

It took me over 8 years to realize what I'm about to tell you right now. If you want to leave a bad habit behind, if you want to leave any behaviors behind, and let's talk specifically about PMO, the number one mistake everyone makes and it's ruining their lives, okay, quitting porn is literally ruining the life of so many people because of this one thing. And that one thing, okay, is very simple to understand, and everyone makes that mistake. Everyone that goes into this NoFap movement makes this mistake, and their life literally, okay, they could be successful in certain areas of their lives. They could be potentially married, they could potentially be having a successful business, they could potentially be traveling the world, basically pursuing their dream life. And that's the thing I'm about to talk to you, right, about. That's the reason why most people I know and most people I've talked to and overall people that I see after being in this space for over 4 years now struggle with. And that is you don't need to wait until your life is perfect, until that, until you left PMO to pursue your dream life. Now, I know I am there coaching people on how to quit porn, masturbation, lust, and I also offer services when it comes to other aspects of life which can be labeled as therapy, essentially. And there's always this one common pattern that comes up where people believe that PMO has been ruining their lives and that they can't do anything about it. Um, that's the reason why they're not married. That's the reason why, uh, they, they, they haven't been successful in life. That's the reason why they, they don't do anything productive with their lives. That's the reason why basically they haven't done anything that they wanted to do. But the truth is there are so many people, okay, there are so many people that live live their dream lives, and in the beginning of pursuing that dream life, they struggle with PMO, or at least they consumed or they engaged in PMO, and some of them still do to this day, yet they live their dream lives. Now, this doesn't mean I'm saying that, you know, quitting PMO has no benefits and that you, you should maybe reconsider quitting PMO. Not at all, right? We all know from an objective, we all know from a If you follow, you know, an objective source of morality, you know that quitting PMO is an obligation, right? But the truth is, if you really look at how people create this excuse, okay, and I hope, you know, if you're doing this, that you're able to just become aware of this mistake so that you can really just completely remove this from your life because I've taught this to my students and it shocks them every single time. It's like, you know when you call someone out on their BS and then you realize, well, oh yeah, I should have changed that, and they change it and then boom, everything changes? That's essentially what I'm talking about here, right? You can, okay, live your life and still have problems in your life, yet live your dream life. Okay? So many people, they know that, for example, pursuing the dream life might be uncomfortable, where you'll have to take action. You'll have to go and, you know, like, if you wanna get married, like, you know, you need to maybe be financially independent. You'll be, you know, you'll need maybe to be a provider. You'll maybe need to, you know, live a better lifestyle, whatever, right? However, I mean, it depends on the culture, right? And it depends on the beliefs, but they know that it takes action. So what do people do? They say, oh, I wish I was married, but I'm not because I struggle with PMO, almost as if like they had cancer that just attacked them, like a pathological issue, like a pathological disease, right? And they couldn't do anything about it. And that's the reason why, for example, they're not healthy. right? You know, in that scenario where someone has cancer, obviously, you know, he has cancer, it's physically there. But in a scenario where you say, oh, PMO is the reason why I can't do anything productive with my life, I can't do anything meaningful with my life, that's you creating an excuse in order to feel more comfortable. But you gotta realize that to a certain extent, like, and you probably know this, you can create excuses as long as you want, but it's not going to change anything, right? We all know that, you know, in order to achieve something, you need to put in the work, right? And then you can leave the rest to God, obviously. But we gotta just become aware that we're just basically, you know, doing this BS to ourselves, right? And sorry for using these words, but I never ever swear. But I'm telling you this, and I'm kind of like basically gonna lose, I'm going to lose like viewers in a sense because the strategy in this niche is to basically tell to other people that look, porn is ruining your life, masturbation is ruining your life, lust is ruining your life, that's the reason why you're not married, that's the reason why your brain, you can't focus, that's the reason why this and that. I don't wanna talk about those things because it's not true. You are doing the damage to yourself that PMO can't even do to you. Of course, PMO will maybe change your perspective if you let it change your perspective. And of course, it will naturally change your perspective if you consume PMO, right? It will change how you see women. It will change those things for the most part, for most people, right? But to come up here and say, oh yeah, I'm lazy and that's just because of PMO, right? Oh yeah, I'm not successful, that's just because of PMO. When in reality, you just didn't even take a single second to take action towards whatever you want to achieve. Another thing I wanna add, when I coach people, based on my coaching experience, right? I've been coaching people for 4 years now. The people, okay, the men that I coach, that other people would consider them as maybe arrogant, that they have like this certain level of like, you could say almost pride. And I know these things are sinful, right? But hear me out, right? And that they kind of like have this ego like, yeah, I deserve the best woman, the best prospect for marriage, right? For example, I deserve to make as much money as I want to so I can provide for my family. I deserve to, you know, do something great or big or get closer to God and God, you know, loves me even if I sin. But these guys, and you know, because God is most merciful, these guys compared to the guys that are like, oh, I'd rather be humble, I'd rather be passive, I'd rather be, you know, like weak and just let, you know, if I, you know what people say, I'm kind of going fast here, but you know what people say, they're like, yeah man, I wish I could quit, but you know, I wish I was successful, but I'm not. And then they start looking at their past, they start playing the victim card. Guess what? The first group of guys end up achieving so much way faster. And when I say achieve, I don't just mean from a career or business perspective, right? I'm talking about the important aspects of life, for example, relationships like marriage. Career, obviously, right? And your faith in God. Like the people that have what other people call arrogance, which in reality is just confidence in a sense of worthiness, in a sense of, yeah, I mean, just confidence and worthiness to sum it up, end up doing way more. Why is it that we have taken as a virtue, right? We have taken it almost as a virtue to just be weak, passive, submissive, and I don't deserve anything if God has not given it to me, so I'm not even going to take action towards that, right? You got to realize, okay, if you can just take one thing from this video, you don't need to wait to live your dream life, okay? You don't need to wait until all of your problems in your life— and that includes PMO maybe, right? And even though PMO is extremely important to get rid of from a non-secular perspective, right, from a religious perspective, it is very important to tackle this issue as soon as possible, right? Just like Menothisis. But what I want you to understand is don't just become that guy, please, please, for the love of God. I see there's a popular subreddit and there's like 1 million users, there's over 1 million users in that probably submitted. I'm not going to say the name of it, but, uh, you probably know which subreddit I'm talking about. And you see people there every day, right, talking about how they're trying to quit porn and how they're miserably failing. And they just seem to be living the worst life. They made quitting PMO the center of their lives, to the point where for them, success in life means the number of days that they've been I'm free without it, the longer the better. And failure in life means going back to PMO. And it stops there. They don't even think about the other important things, right? About pursuing again, like the goals and things of that nature. And please don't fall for this lie that you'll see a lot of these porn recovery coaches will say, in order to live your dream, I mean, in order to be successful in things, you need to quit porn first. Obviously, there's objective benefits, I'm not gonna deny that. And I always talk about those things. There is objective benefits in quitting PMO: time, mental energy, mental space, drive, hunger. And once you use those things to your advantage, right, once you really use those things the way that they, uh, I mean, however you want to use them, that's when like you get so much, right? You know, I have many videos where I talk about like how removing distractions is so point, right? And look, I just want you guys to understand that you don't need to wait. You can live your dream life, you know, the life that you always want to live now. You don't need to be drowned in shame that doesn't even come from your religious ideology, but rather it comes from this whole porn recovery movement that told you that like success in life essentially is the number of days that you've been without watching adult content. Don't let that define you, and don't use it— worse, right? Don't use that as an excuse as to why you haven't been taking action, or as to why you're not going to take action. I hope this video was helpful. I hope you actually take this seriously, because this is not just something which people will just, you know, casually tell you because it doesn't benefit— it doesn't benefit me to say this, to be honest. It doesn't. I just really want to help people, and I really want to see people actually just break free from this whole porn recovery ideology because it is detrimental, it is false, and it only creates hardship. You can quit effortlessly at any time. So one thing I forgot to add to all of this is that the reason why I'm actually saying this is that also as a byproduct, and trust me when I say this, it will make quitting this behavior or any other behaviors way easier. The reason is, okay, just explain it from a logical, um, you know, perspective. If you go and start enjoying your life, right? And you start doing things which you just find a lot of meaning in or maybe a lot of pleasure in, you'll maybe, and this is just maybe potentially, right? But in most cases it actually happens. You'll be like, you'll, I mean, you'll come to the realization where you'll be like, oh, this is way more fun than PMO. Why am I even PMOing, right? Almost as if like the only pleasure that you had in life was this behavior. And now that you started to go out of that, you know, that mental space, I mean, not the mental space, but that ideology that, you know, you need to quit porn and then you can enjoy your life. And instead you went and enjoy your life and realized that there's way more fun. Naturally, you'll be way more likely to just drop the behavior, right? And this is just one example. There are many other examples, right? Like, for example, there's people that go and they've been doing this behavior their whole lives, right? And then, you know, they get married and they're like, okay, this doesn't make sense anymore. Now, on the flip side, you know, the opposite can also happen where, you know, they— people get married and still decide to PMO, right? And they still decide to watch adult content. You know, it depends on the individual, and that's the thing. It depends on the individual. So why not try? right? And see if it works for you. So I hope this video was helpful. Please make sure to actually apply this and you'll see that your life will change forever.
