Why People Are Weaker Than Ever

Samir Gardner argues that constant dopamine hits from Netflix, video games, and social media are making people weaker by dulling self-awareness and motivation. Real strength comes from deliberate effort, confidence, and embracing failure. He uses examples like aspiring basketball players and young investors to show how early skill-building and calculated risks drive growth.

What's up everyone, it's Samir Gardner. Hope you're having a great day. So today I want to talk about why people are weaker and weaker than ever in this society. I'ma just say it's because of technology, okay? I think that technology is probably one of the things that can help you but also can really destroy you. If you, for example, use technology to watch self-improvement or learn how to invest or, you know, anything that's useful, then you, you know how to use it. Like, you can use social media for business and that's good, you know what I mean? But the thing is that if you're just consuming when you're not producing, there's no— there's just, there's just like no reason to use it because People in this society just spend their time watching Netflix, binge-watching Netflix every day, or they'll be playing video games for like 10 hours a day, or being on social media, watching YouTube videos. So what you gotta understand is that when you spend too much time on focus on something that's not going to help you and you don't spend time with yourself, you'll never know yourself and you'll never know why you're weak. So people that just watching Netflix 24/7, they don't know that them watching Netflix and not spending time with themselves, not facing the problem, not facing the reality, is basically making them less, um, they just don't know themselves. So let's say Netflix is the reason why they're weak. They never know that that's the reason why they just continue on watching Netflix. Because they love the dopamine. They love— I mean, it gives too much dopamine, so they just keep on going on. They don't know about dopamine too. So if you, if you know about dopamine, you should like— or if you don't know about dopamine, just check it out because you gotta understand how it works. You basically get instant gratification, and that instant gratification is not going to help you. Like, it's not going to help you in your future. If your goal is to be, I mean, like, if your goal is to be anything, I don't know, like be a basketball player. If you're just watching or you're just spending your time on technology doing anything like nothing useful, and then how can you be a basketball player? How can you be the best player? You can't. You gotta put in the action, believe in yourself. So you can be that basketball player to make it to the NBA if you want to. But people also don't believe in themselves. I'm not, I'm not going to say like they don't believe in themselves because they believe in something else or something. I'm just going to say people think they can't do things. And that's the reason why they don't do things because they think that they can't. But you gotta understand, even if someone is like, he has zero knowledge or something, he can still do it. Like, you just gotta believe in yourself. When you believe in yourself, you're gonna— you can do anything. Yeah, I'm gonna be honest, you can do anything. It's like, I'm gonna take an example. Let's say someone believes that he's like the best basketball player at the school. But you know, there's other people that are as good as him. If he believes deeply enough that he's the best player, he's gonna play like a monster, like he's gonna destroy everyone. But if, for example, he just believed that he's not like that good, he's not confident, he's scared of what other people's gonna think of him if he misses a shot, then how can he be the best player if he's scared of trying. How can you be the best player? You can't. You just can't. So I want to say that also people don't want to get out of the comfort zone. They're just too scared nowadays. Like, I'm not bashing people that are not, like, not in the comfort zone or watching Netflix every day. I'm not bashing you. I'm trying to help y'all. But I used to be there, so I can't even say anything about— like, I can't even insult y'all. But I'm never gonna insult anyone because of the habits or anything. But if, like, nowadays people don't want to get out of their comfort zone, so when you basically, like, just do things that are in your comfort zone, you can't really grow. You can't grow. So let's say, for example, someone— like, I'm gonna take the same example. Let's say someone is just binge-watching Netflix every day. That's the comfort zone. But let's say there's someone else who's basically just grinding his ass off. He's, he's doing things that he's not used to. Even though he's scared, he still does it because he knows that he's gonna grow from it. And yes, guess who at the end of the day is gonna be like, it's gonna live a better life? Because let's say all your childhood, you just like, all you did was like me, basically all you did was be on technology, and the other guy next to you, all he did was working out, do stuff like eating healthy and stuff, all things that are not in the comfort zone. And I'm not saying you should always be outside of your comfort zone. You like— I'm not telling y'all what to do, I'm just speaking knowledge, okay? But you can be in your comfort zone, you can be in your outside of your comfort zone. But when you decide to go out your comfort zone, that's when you grow. That's when you grow. So, so let's say someone is just basically always getting out of his comfort zone, doing things that he's not used to, doing things that he might be scared of. That's how he's gonna grow, because he's gonna gain knowledge from that experience and Even if he falls, he's gonna pick himself back up and keep on going. And that's how— that's just basically how he's gonna achieve his goals. That's how you achieve your goal. For achieving your goals, you just need to believe in yourself. You need to work hard. I mean, you need to— you need experiences. You can't just achieve something first try. No, you can't. You need failure. Like, I don't think you can achieve a big goal if you just basically never even tried before. You can't make 1,000 sales or 1 million sales if that's your first time selling. And maybe you can, maybe you can, but you know, like, the chances are really, really low. But anything's possible at the end of the day. But Yeah, if someone also believes in themselves, he thinks that he can achieve that goal. Because when basically, when you think that you can't achieve that thing because it's hard and everything, if people tells you, nah, you can't be an investor because it's hard, like there's too much risk, are you gonna live a life without taking risk and just being in your comfort zone? Are you gonna say fuck these people and just keep on going and do— try— just take risks. And then at the end of the day, many— like, in your future, you're gonna actually see the progress that you made and why these decisions that you made really benefit you. So even if you're like 16, just— you can learn about investing, you can learn about anything that you want to. You can try it. You know, people start— like, some people start investing or doing business at like 50, 60, And for the young people out there, you can, you can start now. You can just learn your experiences. Don't be scared of failure. Never be scared of failure. Failure is gonna make you stronger. Like, I swear, if you fail to achieve your goal, that means you're getting closer and closer to your goal. And just never give up, because once you give up on your goal, there's just no way of achieving it. There's just no way of achieving it. So that's all for the vid. Hope y'all liked it.
