Samir Gardner breaks down why people binge eat: processed foods leave you unsatisfied, stress and trauma drive emotional eating, and mindless eating makes it worse. He suggests swapping junk food for nutrient-dense options like eggs and avocados, journaling to find your triggers, and eating without distractions.

What's good, y'all? It's your boy Samir Gardner. Hope y'all doing good. So wait, so, uh, for y'all that binge eat, for y'all that cannot stop eating, for y'all that eat too much even though they don't want to and they regret after— and you know, I— it happens to me like a lot. I'm— and a lot, like right now Like, I'm eating a lot, but because I want to eat a lot, not from— not for binge eat, okay? So, you know, I still— if I gotta stop eating, I practice to stop eating. But I'm gonna tell you 3 reasons why you, you, um, basically overeat every day, like binge eat and everything. So the first reason why is going to be pretty much simple. It's you eat processed food. And processed food, the problem with processed food, it's, it's not even the fact that it's unhealthy, it's because it doesn't give you the minerals, plus it doesn't give you like the fiber. And the fiber is what is going to make you feel more full. Yeah, more full. You're going to be more filled. I mean, you're just going to be feeling, uh, saturated. Like, you're gonna feel full, but you don't have the fiber. Because, for example, white bread— white bread doesn't have the— I don't know, like, it doesn't have the fiber, doesn't have the nutrients. The nutrients all got, um, removed. Basically, they all remove like a part of the food. When you remove a part of the food, your body is going to crave the rest of the food. You're For example, if I took, uh, an avocado but I remove like some of the nutrients, I remove some of the minerals, your body is used to eating like a food that is already like made with all these nutrients, a whole food basically. It's already made, but once you remove it, it's not a whole food because your body is going to crave the rest of the foods. That's processed. It's going to crave the rest of the minerals because it didn't came with the whole package, and now you're trying to get the whole package. It's like this. So when you eat processed food, you're going to be never going to feel full, bro. For example, people that be bulking, right, it's way easier to bulk on junk food because— and processed food because You are never full. Try, try eating like 1,000 calories from junk food and try eating 1,000 calories from more foods. Good luck. Like, 1,000 calories from more food, it's like eating 6 eggs. Well, it's gonna be hard for you. It's not even 6, like 6 to 7 eggs. Try eating 6 to 7 eggs, to be honest. Try eating 3 avocados and Try and then try eating 1,000 calories from sugar and chocolate and all this junk food. Try it, try, just try eating, um, you know, both of them. You're gonna see which one is gonna be way more easier. One is gonna be way more easier. One is gonna fill you up, like the eggs, the avocado, the, you know, the oats, like the sweet potatoes, like the, the whole food basically. It's gonna fill you up, but the rest is not— it's not gonna fill you up because it doesn't have the nutrients. An egg has all the nutrients. It has the protein, the fats, the zinc, like all the— I'm not gonna get into the nutrients, uh, but a Kit Kat doesn't have— bro, you think a Kit Kat has like, uh, 50% calcium, 35 grams of protein? No, bro, there's nothing with Kit Kats. So That's one of the reasons why you overeat. Now, the second reason, um, this is gonna be more like deep. And most of the time, people overeat for comfort because, um, and you know, a lot of people face in their life, for example, a lot of stress, traumatic events, um, it can be just trauma from the childhood and everything. And you know, you might be overeating because you're trying to sort of recover from that. That's why I think you should journal. Journal to understand you. Journal so you can really understand what happened to you and why you overeat. You might be overeating, you're trying to stop overeating, but it's not gonna work just trying to stop with willpower. You gotta understand where— why are you doing this? Why are you overeating? Maybe you're overeating because you just, uh, you You got something to do and you're stressed. Maybe there's something that happened in your past and now you're anxious and everything, so you're trying to like kind of forget. You're trying to reduce the stress because drugs— like drugs and food, there's not much a difference. But it's not really like people don't want to accept it, but there's not like a difference between drugs and food. And I'm not saying food is the worst thing of all, bro. I'm just saying We indulge in drugs or food, like overeating foods, because we want to reduce the stress. It's just a stress reduction thing. And it's— I'm just trying to help y'all like understand. But if you're overeating because of traumatic events and everything, you, you got to search up how to heal from those things. You gotta really focus on that and not focus on stop to stop overeating. Focus on what happened to you in your past. Just focus on the root cause. That's it. Focus on like anything, anything that's really causing like the whole problem. That's causing the stress, the anxiety, the depression. That's the 3 things you need to know. And now the 3rd way to stop overeating will be mindfulness. Because many people just be eating but they don't even realize they be eating because they be like, for example, on their phone, they be, uh, watching TV, they be doing this and that. They don't— they— I think people— I'm not sure, but I think people see eating like a job to me. But for me, bro, eating— I only eat 2 meals a day, okay? I mean 2 big meals a day, let me just clarify. But Maybe I'll eat like a snack or something, but eating 2 meals a day for me is easy. But for me, 2 meals a day, why I wanna eat less frequently is because I wanna feel like eating is an experience. I mean, for me, eating is an experience. When I eat after I'm hungry and everything, I wanna eat like it's, like I wanna be mindful of when I'm eating, like it's an experience. I don't know how to explain, it's just, it's an experience to me. Eating should be an experience, not a job. A lot of people see, oh, I gotta eat at 8:00 AM and then at 12:00 PM and then at 5:00 PM. But bro, like, no, like, bro, I think, I just think eating should be a tool. Food should be a tool for you, but it should be an experience. Like, you're literally eating. Some people are starving. Like, people that are starving, when you give them food, they'll probably eat food mindfully. They'll probably eat food like, because they never— they barely get food. People that are starving barely get food. And so if you give them food, they're going to experience eating like it's something new, something like, like extraordinary and everything. So be more mindful. Stop being on your phone. Stop being— stop doing anything else. Really try to focus on the taste of the food. That's what I do. I try to focus on the taste of the food. I try to focus on You know, just the little things. Like when I'm eating, I'm just trying to focus on the food, how it tastes, how it feels in my mouth, uh, uh, how I'm, you know, chewing and everything. That's, that's just, that's just what I focus on. Don't, don't overthink it. Just focus on the food you're eating. Just, just the taste and everything. That's it. So this is gonna be it for the vid. Uh, go in the description if y'all want one-on-one free consultations. I can help you with anything. So that's it for the vid, bro.
