All right, welcome to this episode of the Real White House. And, well, my very first fitness competition has occurred. Next, competitor number 69, Garrett J. White. As well as the journey that our family's been on for the past four and a half, five years. When Danielle kicked it all off with her first bikini competition after the birth of Isla, we're gonna break it down as a family, and we're gonna run through both of those experiences and how fitness and the game of eating has completely, radically changed our family's lives.
All right, that's a wrap, kids. That is a wrap. If you guys are thinking about doing it, I say go for it. You don't have to be perfect, but consistency gets you a long ways.
So talk to us. It's your fault. You started us down this fitness journey, you psychopath.
Made everybody be so fun.
All right, well, talk about it, because we used to be a Lean Cuisine family. That was our meal.
Pre still.
Okay, well, so I've always been into fitness for my mental health. I really enjoy working out. It just helps with anxiety and depression. And I always say my drug of choice is working out. So it wasn't until I had Isla, my third daughter, that I. I just gained a ton of weight with her. Like, I got pregnant, and I was kind of heavy because I'd had a miscarriage, so I was already a little bit heavier, and I got pregnant, and then I gained so much weight, and I gained a lot of water weight. I think it's because I was still working quite a bit behind the chair. And anyways, I developed that DVT in my leg and got, like, preeclampsia. And I just remember people telling me, like, hey, you know, you're getting older. Like, don't, you know, don't be too hard on yourself after this baby. And I remember thinking, God, I must look like shit. So I. I had always kind of wanted to do a fitness competition, a bikini competition, but it seemed really scary. Like, I'm like, you get, like, you got to do the diet and the fitness, and then you're always in your head, like, what if my body doesn't respond? What if I can't do it? And I think having the. I think having the perspective of, like, feeling like my life was at risk with Isla, it made me think about it a little bit different. I like, why do you have nothing to lose if you try? If you try, then you've already won. And so after I had Ilab, I was like, if I'm going to do this, I'm going to hire a fitness coach, a bikini competitor to help me lift, and I'm going to hire a nutritionist. So that's kind of how it all started.
Did you know Val before that competition? How did you actually introduce Val as a trainer?
I reached out to another girl that was a personal trainer, and she's like, no, you need somebody who. Who know. Who, like, knows who trains competitors or who has done one. And I looked at Val's Instagram, and, Val, I love you, but her Instagram sucked at the time, but she had her pro card, so I was like, okay, well, she's got a pro card and she's a personal trainer, so I'll hire her. And I still train with her to this day. But, yeah, it was crazy. I felt like I was always that girl that was always obsessing about, like, what I was eating, and I was always working out, and I wasn't getting the results that I wanted. And so I was like, this is stupid. Stupid. If I'm already, like, kind of obsessing over this at some level, how about I actually educate myself and hire professionals to help me and submit to the process and see what's actually possible? And so that's really why I got into it, and I had a really a positive experience the whole time. It does get a little bit obsessive. I would say it definitely. People are like, oh, it kind of with your brain. But I was like. I said, like, I kind of was already in my head about my. My diet and workout and any. I'm sorry, but any girl or woman who works out who says at some level she's not a little bit in her head about it is a liar. And so I was kind of like, well, let's see if I can. If I'm already. It's like, choose your pain. Right, Right. And so even though I got a little obsessive about it, it was like I was kind of already obsessed without the results that I wanted. So, yeah, it's been. It's been fun. I never knew that, like, the impact it would have on the family or even, like, a lot of my students, they're like, hey, massive. I want to do a competition. And, like, people are like, I'm like. Because I'm not like, this huge, massive bodybuilder. I'm like a normal person. And I just was like, let's give it a shot. And so I think that's what's inspiring is this just the willingness to go and to do it and having four kids and to try it again.
I don't.
I think mom was, like, the first one. I was doing sports. Like, I've done tons of sports, but mom was the first one to start lifting. Was she the one that inspired you to start?
Yeah, I think about it now, and.
I was like, I think it's about the time that you started lifting, too.
Yeah, no, it was. Yeah, it was you doing the comp. Because I was thinking about that. Like, that was when I just got born. I was four. Now I've been in the gym for about three and a half years.
You were so skinny.
Oh, my. I was off McDonald's every morning.
Yeah.
Oh, my goodness. McDonald's. And just trying to.
Yeah.
Oh, anything I do, it's not gonna work. Anything I try to do, I'm just always gonna be skinny. And then I.
Was that the story that you were running, like, the whole time?
And I was scared of the family at that moment, too, because, like, I hadn't really gotten close to you guys yet. So, like, then mom started fitness. And then I remember talking to you about it, and you were like, oh, I just. I have to do it. Like, I got to get my stuff dialed in. I watched you go through it, and I was just like. Like, maybe you can change. Like, maybe you can do it even if you don't think you can.
And people tell themselves, like, oh, this is my body type. I even thought. I even thought that about you at one point. I was like, oh, he's just, like, a skinny dud. Maybe it's really hard for him to put on muscle, which it probably is. But you hadn't really, like, actually given it effort.
And you were on your. You had gotten all your coaches, and you got everything dialed in, like, within, like, a week. And you were, like, on your path to go to the get, like, all your training ready. And then I remember there was the flip that switched in you. And then we had a conversation around the table at the old house, and you were just like, stop being a victim. You can do it. You just tell yourself you can't. Like, are you just going to do it or are you not? Because I'm doing it. And I thought I couldn't. I was like, oh, okay. Like, maybe I'll start. And I remember asking you questions about food, asking you questions about working out, and you were not big into that. You were even a CrossFit guy.
So, like, I wasn't crossfitting. I was a surfing and, like, not even hitting kettlebells. I didn't lift at all.
But even before that, you lit like, it was like, okay. Dad was like, this jacked, like, guy in. In college that we all talk about his arena football days. That's. At least.
He was never that jacked, though.
I wasn't jacked out. Like, now.
Big ass arms is big.
Yeah. Yeah, Your arms are deceiving.
But then it was like. It was actually when, like, I had started, but I wasn't as serious about it. Like, I mean, I had. I had gotten serious right after New Year's. I remember that. And then I asked you all these questions, and I was like, okay, let's get dialed in. I'm tired of feeling like I just.
Remember you buying a ton of chicken. You're like, can I bring my chicken over and cook?
And the weight gainer shakes and all of it.
And I went down the, like, 8,000 calories.
I was like, yep, but you were making a push. I mean, you had. You had become like, you were super, super skinny. And then I remember your first push was the same time mom was pushing to compete in her first bikini. Bikini show. And you started pushing and lifting. And there's always that one photo that kind of change things where you're sanding the sandbags and the warrior T shirt on, and everyone, including me, everyone was just like, oh, holy shit, Parker. Wow.
Lots of muscles.
I remember I would even look at your Instagram, be like, wow, he, like, got muscles. Like, I would, like, show my guy friends and shit, who are, like, tinier because I was, like, in middle school at the time. And then I just got blood on my hands and then fake blood. And then anyways, like, they would always just, like, talk about the gym all the time. I'd be, well, look at my brother. He was skinny and now he's big. And they would just be like, you.
Were really skinny, though. Remember you have this one photo that you, like, took in the bathroom, and your arms are like, yeah. So skinny.
Yep. I had no abs, no chest, no nothing. And I was pretty much surfboard. And I was like, okay, this sucks.
It almost looked like. It almost looked like you just hadn't grown into your body yet. Does that make sense?
You look like a boy. But you were, like, 19 when you took that photo.
Yeah, I was 19. And I was like, okay. Like, there was a point where I saw you. You just go, gun ho. And I was like, okay, here's something I can relate with you on. And this is my chance in. Like, I always talk about, oh, Isla was the thing that brought me into the family chicken. But it was honestly, it Wasn't that. It was that I finally had something that I could relate with you on.
Oh, okay.
And that brought me into the family because I was always talking to you all the time, and I wasn't really close with dad at the time, and so, like. And I was close to the girls, but somewhat I was still getting there and hiding in my room. So then. Then I. Yeah, I started talking to you. I was like, oh. And then you'd give me validation, too. You were like, hey. Like, yeah, you're. You're doing it. And I was like. And then Bailey found an attraction around, like, hey, my brother's Jack. My brother's, like, protective. All these things.
Yeah, Bailey's, like, powerlifting. Bailey's.
I could hip thrust five. No, wait, I could hip thrust 305.
You were really into lifting for a while.
What was that all about? How did you. Because at the same time, Mom's training for her first bikini show, Parker's starting to get bigger at getting muscles, and you all of a sudden started getting into, like, you were training, like, every day.
Yeah.
When you were. When you were at. At.
In treatment.
In treatment.
Because we had a gym. So my second place, we had a gym there. And then I would barely do it. I would, like, barely, like, go in, like, occasionally sometimes, because I was just, like, angry. And then at my, like, last place I went to, it was way more flexible. It wasn't super strict, and it was like, well, still was. But they would let you go to the gym after school, and then if as you got more privileges, you could go on your own, etc. So I was just like. I'd wake up at 5 and walk in the snow and, like, go to the gym. One time I sliced my entire, like, hand open, and I almost had to go to the hospital and shit. But I still, like, showed up to the gym. Funny, I just, like. I feel like I steered away. I feel like I've been off the gym for, like, a year now, but I was on it heavily for, like, a year. And that was just because during that time period, it helped me. I was so angry about a lot of trauma, and it helped me, like, every time I would think about, like, certain trauma incidents, certain ones I was healing from, like, specifically that happened that past year. And I would just think about, like, my goal was to, like, lift like, 10 times more than, like, this one guy's body weight and, like, do like that. And, like, that was my goal with it. That's why I did powerlifting. I didn't care about the aesthetic. I was like, I'm going to fucking murder everyone here. Like, I need to be able to be strong. I need to be able to throw any 300 pound man on the floor.
And AIDS for your mental health at the time.
Because I was so angry and I like even talking about it, I get like that anger, but I just, like I'm not in a place like I'm getting there but like I'm not in a place like this past year, kind of notice I drifted because I'm not angry anymore. I kind of like fought that all out and there's nothing to be angry at.
I think it could help with like depression though. Like for. Because I know you're very high, low, like I am in that aspect. And so for me, like it's like I said, like, it's kind of like my drug. Like I wake up and I'm sad or depressed or angry or whatever. And I'm like, I'm like, okay, you know what you need to do? That's like when I don't want to work out but. And I make myself do it. And that's why I can have like a really productive day. Like, do you think that could help you now?
I think it could help me.
It's just everyone's different and so like I hear you guys saying, do that for your depression because I'm in a really bad depressive episode right now because like that's how bipolar works. And for me though, it's more the creative things that help with those sides of the, the emotions. The more manic, even manic, it's still like different. It's more creative. It's. I've learned to navigate my emotions differently to where I'm very comfortable with my. I'm very comfortable with my body and how I look no matter what. Like I've gained and lost so much different weight. I had like eating disorders when I was younger. I would take laxative so I could be the skinniest girl in school. Like I had a lot of trouble with that. And so for me, now I'm 16. I'm not trying to push myself to be the most jacked lady on this planet. Like I know I could, I could get my. I know if I push myself and I've been thinking about it like being able to push myself in a healthy matter. It's just for me right now I'm very comfortable with who I look and how I am and I'll always be that way.
Yeah, that's why I was saying like other things for like a mental thing.
Yeah, like a.
Not like a. That's how you look.
Right?
That's why, to answer your question, it's like, since I am very comfortable with how I appear now, that the mental health side of things, the things that I find help me more. And our music are music and taking photos and expressing myself and doing weird shit.
I feel like this is a new episode, so we really have to address the elephant in the room.
So this big giant dagger. My forehead is. I did a Halloween photo shoot and then I did a cross. And yes, it is an upside down cross. But as I just discussed with my family before, the history behind this. So everyone doesn't think I'm a saint.
They're gonna be watching that and they're like, she's a troubled teen.
I mean, she's.
No wonder she went to rehab.
You're talking about.
You're talking about treatment.
You have a freaking cross. I basically the history behind it. So I just wanted to do, like a cute little Halloween photo shoot with, like, some cool f makeup because I like to be creative again. That's a creative outlet for me. And long story short, it's not a satanic thing as everyone thinks. Like, I looked it up just to make sure because that's against my own morals to wear an upside down cross. Peter, the disciple in the Bible, basically, out of respect, was like, I'm not going to be, like, buried on a cross.
Right.
Right side up, out of respect. Because no one can be Jesus. Jesus is the one and only, and he was buried right side up. So out of respect, it's like taking a nail gonna be upside down. Anyways, I'm not a Satanist. To all the little moms who are about to be like, you need your child to have help.
You should.
Oh, we do. We have.
We do. We're not gonna disagree with them. They're just some help on its way.
And. Oh, Ruby, you're up.
Ruby's up with the fitness girl. Ruby, what do you think? Ruby, what do you think?
She does ice skating. She's gotten good. You're really good.
That's what you're talking about. Tell us about ice skating.
I've done it. Well, it would be a year this month, but I took off like two months because we were traveling a lot. So technically, January would be the year. I did it for a year, but we're doing jumps and stuff from moving. And they're really fun. I'm more comfortable with them now because I used to not be comfortable with them because I Fell once, and then I got like, no. I was like, I'm not gonna do anymore.
What is it you love about ice skating? Cause I feel like you. You were kind of into volleyball this last year, and then I was actually surprised that ice skating stuck. I was like, who? You're like, I wanna figure skate. And I was like, you wanna figure skate? I was like, oh, she's gonna do a couple lessons. And it seems like something you really enjoy doing. Is it kind of just like mastering the tricks or what is it that you like about it?
I think it's fun to see improvement with the tricks and stuff because we do, like, jumps, like, waltz jumps and stuff. That's, like, the name of one of them. And those are fun to do. I'm not that good at spinning, but I like jumping.
Yeah. I took her ice skating, and I can spin, she can jump. So between the two of us, we make a spinning figure skater.
Yeah.
When you rube. When you watched mom kind of take on her fitness journey, and you see, you know, all the family working out. Parker's working out, Bailey's working out. Dad's just surfing now. Dad's lifting weights. But, like, back then, I wasn't. When you watch mom and everybody getting pumped up about fitness, what were you thinking about it?
I don't know.
At the time, she's, like, thinking, I'm 10.
I'm 10. I don't know.
She was thinking, yeah.
That was contortionism.
She was doing, like, Sophie Dawsey.
I watched Sophie Dawson and I.
You got good. You got, like, obsessive.
I know.
I would copy all her things. Like, she'd, like, bend backwards in a suitcase.
I'd be like, I could do that. Remember you did a performance at St.
Yeah, yeah, we brought that.
We still have that mat. It's in the elevator.
I remember we're in the crowd, people were like, whoa.
I know. I remember because you.
I like. I don't remember what I did.
I, like, rolled over.
Like, I put my.
Yeah.
Over my head and I rolled forward.
Yeah.
Why did you stop doing it?
I don't remember. I remember doing. I was in gymnastics. I was in gymnastics too, but then covet it, and they were, like, canceled it. They were like, sorry, we're not doing it anymore. Because, like, sickness or whatever.
Covet, obviously. But, like. Yeah.
And then, I don't know, I just stopped doing it. Or did I start contortion after I did.
No, you did it midway. You did it midway. Like, before. COVID the midway through. And then at, like, During COVID is when you stopped because you and your friends just like to, like, game. And, like, I know.
I. Oh, my gosh, that. That was so bad.
Don't you think that's kind of how it is, though? Like, it's like, one year you're into marathons. One year you're into surfing. One year you're into, like, it's just like, what it. What gives you purpose? What gives you a goal? What gives you focus, right? And it's like, then you get to this place where you, like, feel like you got to, like, your level of where you wanted to go with that sport, and then you're like, I have no desire. Like, you were like, I'm going to be a pro surfer. And then you kind of were like, no, I don't want to. So I feel like even with your surfing, you got to a point where you, like, you accomplish what you wanted out of that sport. And then, like, same thing for me, like, in lifting, like, I, like, I did the show. I won first place. And then I was like, do I want to get my pro card? And then I was like, no, because I didn't want to put that much size on. And so it's like, once you feel like you've gotten what you want out of that support, you're kind of like, yeah, you're like, I did a back bend over my face and, you know.
Contortion, and now I'm done contorting. Bailey, what do you remember. What do you remember about mom's. Mom's most recent show? I mean, so mom's on three fitness shows, and her one last year was, like, the one she took overall and, like, one everything. What's like. But for you, as her daughter, I know, like, being teenager is not easy with body, like, consciousness and, like, just body issues, like, constantly for all young girls. But watching mom so consistently train, like, what do you. What does this do for you as. As a daughter, knowing that your mom trains like this, too?
I think it's cool. I think it's very, very hot, girl. I think. I think that throwing the weights around a girl boss, and I think it's very cool. You started doing fitness before fitness was trending. Does that make sense? Like, because fitness, girly, like, body types started trending this year because, like, the year before, it was, like, curve.
Yeah.
And, like, it changes constantly. But I thought it was cool because you're always ahead of the trend. And it's also just, like, inspiring to watch, like, a female step on stage in a sport that's probably leaning more towards male domination. Like, meaning, like, lifting weights is meant to be for the bros quote, unquote. And it's like, no female can do that just as good, if not better. And, like, people don't understand that because people are like, well, she's small. She's da, da, da. Well, no shit, Sherlock. Women have different genetics than men. That's how we're physically built. Like, but just, like, if you. It's like having an ant. Like, how they say, like, ants. If, like, five ants can carry, like, a shit ton of, like, weight and they're stronger than humans technically, but not literally, right? That's how it is with a female and men.
It's like, you probably know my metaphor.
Basically means you're a strong woman.
You know, it's crazy. Crazy is I always had this story about this specific sport that I was gonna get bulky, and I hear so many women who do, like, so much cardio and, you know, pilates and HIIT F45 nighttime, drink a bottle of wine every night. And then they just say they're like, well, it's my body type. And I'm like, no, you're not willing to do something different. And you have a story in your head, and it's really a matter of changing your patterns and what you're doing to get the results that you wanted. And you guys see the same thing in your body. I mean, I was actually surprised that you were gonna do a competition. So Garrett's actually currently training to do. Well, it's a Saturday. He's got, like, three days.
He's got Saturday. The time we're.
I've never. I've never seen you with, like, this much muscle and, like, lean at the same time. So it's like, it's.
I've never had this much muscle and been this lean at the same time.
Ever since we've. Since we've been dating, since I've known you 22 years, I was like, man, I just had to hold out 20 years. And then there we go. But is it. Have you not enjoyed it? I mean, I know there's, like, up and downs, but, like, it's fun to see your body. It's fun to work out. It's fun to see your body change. When you see changes in your body, that's what pushes you to keep going. If you just keep working out and you don't see changes, eventually you just kind of get bored. But when you see progress, that's why it can get a little bit addicting.
I couldn't believe. Like, I still am kind of. Sometimes I look in the mirror and I'm like, oh, that's my body. It's act like I actually have that feeling because it's, like, been so, so much in, like, five months. Like, so much work in five months. But, I mean, I've been gone. Yeah, it'll have to be five months by the time I compete this weekend. And it's like I have been at the gym at 5am Monday through Friday every single day for five straight months. Like, that's a lot. I figured I ate over a thousand chicken breasts. What, 800 chicken eggs?
What made you want to do it, though? Because, like, I mean, which is fun.
Because Heather's. Heather's. Heather's a vegan.
Well, I heard about why you did it, so I'm laughing.
Well, I laugh in the morning because, like, my. One of our nannies is a vegan. And so every morning I'm making up all my meat, and she walks into the bloodbath of me baking.
Then he makes her clean up for all his dishes.
I'm like, clean up all the guts of these chickens. Clean up all these chicken guts.
She'll bring her vegan nuggets and be.
Like, isla, don't follow your dad.
I have. I mean, I found a lot of, like, just a lot of. I mean, you were into lifting and I didn't care. And then mom was into lifting and I didn't care, meaning I didn't care for myself. I was really excited for you guys. I loved watching you compete. I mean, I got you pregnant again.
Oh, my God. That was crazy.
And you were pregnant on stage during your competition.
She won her competition pregnant on stage. That was crazy.
That's why I had to do seven weeks pregnant. You're seven weeks on stage.
I will tell you that cut. I literally was like. I mean, because I was early pregnant, but that cut. I was like, I feel like I'm dying. Why does the life feel like it's being sucked out of me?
And then literally had a human in there.
Yeah. The weekend after my competition, I'm like, man, this refeed's not going well. Because I looked, like, bloated. And I was like, oh, I think I might be pregnant. And I was like, no, it's fine. So then I let another week go by, and I was like, okay, this is not.
Girl, this. This is a problem. Something else is going on here.
Well, because you were, like, telling me.
You felt like you were before competition, but then you're like, I'm not gonna.
Do anything to check.
Yeah. She's like, I don't want to check.
I remember when you walked in and showed me and I was like, oh, shit, you're pregnant again.
Yep.
Wow. Here we go. Baby number five for me.
We know how pregnant you were until not ultrasound, right?
No, I mean, it's, you know, like once you get do the ultrasound, then you. I'm like, oh, so that means on stage. I was about seven weeks pregnant.
That's crazy.
It's crazy.
Well, I know that like, one. It's a bragging. Like, it's a bragging thing for kids. Yeah, I know that because I'm like. Like, when I know that you were pregnant on stage, I'm like, yeah, my mom went on stage and was pregnant.
Still took first your excuse.
What's your mom doing? Crazy. Yeah, I didn't know.
I didn't know like, that cut.
And then at the same time, though, there's an infamous photo, no different than the one you mentioned, of me and the warrior, like tea and everything. And think there's an infamous photo with you and I in Cancun. I remember. You know which one I'm talking about. And dad was in full on dad bod.
Yeah.
And I was full on, like, training every day was looking good. And I remember that photo. And I was like, like, what a sucker.
That was the first time you caught. You caught it.
I was like, dad, I'm bigger than you.
I.
Everyone knows it now.
I'm on the tight pool and you.
Guys both flex and I. And I even remember I was looking at the photo and I was like.
Is it on whose dude?
Your son passed you up?
Yep.
Yeah, he did pass me. You did. You look great. Shoulders were big.
I remember it was that far far.
Yeah, it's far far.
I just didn't realize that I was like, as creamy soft as I am.
No, but then you took that photo. I was like, yeah, dad, you're kind of soft as fuck.
But I didn't realize it at the time. I thought I was jacked. I was like, I'm so jacked.
You're so funny though, because, like, you clean up your diet and you lean down really fast and so. But then you're like, let your diet go. And you still think you're like, the lean guy. And I'm like, babe, you gotta cut out that ice cream at night.
But I remember, like, being in that moment, sitting there and taking that photo and knowing I was bigger than you. And, like, we can talk about body. And I think that the biggest emphasis.
I don't know.
Maybe I'm weird, but I think about being a parent all the time. And maybe that's just because the way, like, growing up, everything like that, just always want to create my own family. So, like, I think about it from a parent standpoint, though. Like, I looked down upon you during that moment. I was like, what? Like, you're leading me. Like, you're soft as shit. Like, I'm bigger than you. I, I, I, I have more sex than you. I, I may not make more money than you, but if we're talking about.
The have it all, I think I.
Have it all more.
He wasn't wrong, went wrong on that.
Yeah. But then I come now and I'm like, I know damn well. I'm already stressing. I'm like, oh, great, we're taking photos on Saturday. I know I'm going to have to take the shirt off when dad's taking his shirt off. So you better refeed your ass up this week because, yeah, you're not even close. And, like, there's a different level of respect I have for you guys, though, once you started fitness than when you weren't in fitness.
Yeah.
Because having jacked parents, like, I don't say that everyone needs to be at a show level, but, like, you guys being as fit to the caliber at which you are already, I'm like, I respect you. Like, that was kind of what I learned in body was like, I got more respect when I walked into the warrior rooms when I had put that weight on and people noticed.
Yeah.
And so then, like, when I watch not only mom's transformation and she posts about it, like, when you're pregnant and you went to your show, and then dad, where he's finding his moment now where he's getting to like, dude, the biggest I've ever seen you and the leanest I've ever seen, I've ever seen. Ben, man, I don't even care. It's not even a question. Like, I'm sitting here like, so you're gonna take a seat?
You gonna do a show?
I'll probably do a show next year.
Dude, you should do a show. Remember I told you we're gonna train after this?
Should do a show.
You know what? Once you commit, you gotta be in a space where you're like, for me, when I committed, I was like, I got nothing to lose. Let's go. And then I don't know what made you commit this.
You know exactly what made it. Yes, it was you. Did you sneaky tricked me.
Sneaky.
We were in Miami. We were in Miami and we're at dinner and I wanted you to do a medicine journey with me. Plant medicine.
You were like, okay, like my agave.
I'll do a plant medicine with you if you do a fitness competition. So we shook on it in the restaurant in Miami. Signed a napkin, made a contract. Next morning, I paid for everything, got it registered, got my. Picked my event.
You literally get a screenshot. Like, I'm like, it's like 6am and I'm waking up and I get a screenshot of like, him doing a signed up for his muscle competition. And I literally texted you right away. And I go, don't do this for me, do it for you.
And I was pissed. I was like, oh, you lied. You lied. You said you were gonna do medicine. Oh, yeah, I was pissed at first. He was like, you lied, woman. You said that you were going to do a medicine journey if I did a fitness journey. God, can't trust this woman for nothing. Then I had to make my own decision.
Yeah. I said, don't do it for me then.
Then I chose it.
I can't commit to doing a medicine journey. So if you're going to do it, do it for you. And what's been fun is now you can. I. You empathize because it is hard. It takes an incredible amount of discipline. And it. I remember, like, we'd go to movies all the time. You'd be ordering burgers and M&M's. And I'm like, you fucking?
And I'm like, so jacked, literally.
And like, it's so funny because you're a lot like, I don't think you now you have more respect for it, right? You're like, okay, this is. This is hard. That's why when I give you shit, I don't feel bad. I'm like, oh, sir, is that a. Why are you eating watermelon right now? Is that on the diet?
You know what, though? I've got my own kind of strategy with the grapes and the watermelon and.
The rice cake and the waffles.
No, If I did that one time, then you yelled at me and got in trouble and then had a humming.
Because you're telling your coach. You're like, I've been doing really good on my diet. I go, except for that chicken and waffles and the ham you just had last night.
But I did improve and Saturday is my show, so.
You look great. Hey, you look good.
I'm feeling great about it.
No, you look great.
Not great. Girl.
Queen. I'm feeling good about it. Ruby, what do you think about, like, dad's size now? Do you even notice? I mean, is a kid making.
I already told you, I'm like, your body looks 28. We just gotta clean this gray beard up a little bit.
Oh, come on, Ruby. What do you think?
It's different.
What's different about it? Like, watching when you see me, like, when you. I don't know what it's like with that. Cause my parents were overweight like, my whole life, so I only know my parents being overweight. I never knew my dad. My dad never really was. That's not true. One time, my dad got fit when I was, like, right after. Right after my divorce. And grandpa got into the body for life challenge. And that was, like, the fittest I'd ever seen him. But what's it like for you seeing. Seeing dad, like, in the last five months, like, put on muscle and get more. More fit?
I think that it's cool to watch, like, improvement. And also, I remember this one moment where we were walking to breakfast together, and you just start flexing. I'm like, who is this man flexing to?
There's a reflection. He's gonna flex.
I turn, and he's flexing to Parker in the car.
He's in his car, right?
And I was like, oh, okay.
Okay.
That's right.
Okay.
So Parker is committing. You're committing to a show in 2024.
He's like, oh, yeah, I will. I know it's my turn. That's how it works. Mom does one, then you do one. Then it's comes down to me and Bailey. Don't worry. Yours is coming in, too. I'm going to singer.
I'm not going to have time for that. I'm going to.
But you're part of the. You're part of the. The whites and the whites do things very, very similar with.
If I do it, you all have to do it.
That's how it all works.
Trickle down.
Dad talks on stage. We talk on stage. Mom does a fitness comp. We all do a fitness comp.
Dad eats a rice cake.
You all eat it, right?
I hate rice cakes. I will not be attending.
I'm excited for you.
I'm excited.
I think that what I've noticed, too, is inside of Warrior, the men are noticing. So I think it's like, guys get to this place when they're older in life that, like, if. Especially if they're making money, that they're just like, hey, I'm good. I don't have a dad guest. I'm good. And so you showing, like, how much you work and that it is possible to do this with your body is inspiring not only to the young guys, but to the older guys that are living at a lower standard with their body. I also make. It's pushing them.
I think it's important because a lot of times in society, like, there's the whole thing about how guys can have, like, be like, super plus size and then expect their woman to be like, yeah, fittest, most toned, like, healthy, strict. No, like, eat a little salad. And like, I'm not saying this is the case for every situation, every couple, every person. I'm just saying this is a generalized thing that happens in society. It's so stupid. It's like the dad bod thing. I was like, I mean, sure, if that's what you're into, that's fine, but, like, don't let, like, another. No matter if you're male or female, don't let another person, like, like, don't be like, I can be. Let go of myself, but you can't.
You have to be the double standard.
You're dating me. Like, who do you think you are? Like, yeah. So it's cool to see, like, parents who are both, like, in shape and actively, like, applauding each other.
Do you feel more powerful?
Of course. Yeah.
There's a. There's something with fitness that it just transcends into. It's like, it transcends into certainty. Like, it really does. Like, the body is like a piece that we're given on this earth to, like, tap into something else. And you look at every fit dude, whether they're young or old. They carry themselves a different way because they're like, oh, you can't fake this. I put in the work.
I would say that doesn't this. And maybe tmi, I don't know, whatever. There's no such thing as TMI in our family, to be honest with you. But, like, at the same time, I know for a fact that this also is a huge factor on your being and your guys's ability to connect as a couple. Because, well, dad's not squishy, so it's just different, right? And then if you're not squishy, it's different too. And, like, even in my relationship, I saw that.
Like, yeah.
And so, like, I was just looking at, like, wow, like, not only does this set the standard for, like, how you walk around, but it sets the standard on how you connect as well. And like, yeah, the respect you have for one another has changed and it's all been down to like. I mean, I feel like you've gained more respect for dad because dad's walked a mile in your shoes.
And Noel. And let's face it, fitness, like, fitness sets off sex.
Yeah.
And like, when you're.
It's because if you feel more confident.
More sex, that means the marriage is going to work.
So no more babies, no more.
Right.
Bailey, Ruby, we just made this awkward. I contact.
Yeah, that's where I was. Like, I might bring the conversation to the wrong place, but I know I've had a few comments made to myself that that changes a lot of things. So.
Yeah, well, mom is mom at a.
That's okay. Me and Bailey have those. We have our own.
We got the weirdest. We were going to get matching side store. We were going to get matching piercings. We had the weirdest conversation.
But I was like, this is weird to be talking about sex with my daughter right now.
I just have to be like, bro talk.
It's bro talk. Okay?
I have to block out and forget that that's my dad and that's my brother. When I talk to your guard, like, I just. I'm like, y. Y. I very much.
So disassociate with half of the stuff that we talk about. Not in the sense of I don't like.
Cuz it's like, you want to have bro talk and then you're like, you're my dad.
You're like, yeah, that's weird. In some ways, I've definitely had conversations with dad that I'm like, yeah, that's not normal.
I have to tell Bailey. I'll be like, dude, like, I don't want to hear anyone.
I'm like, mom, but I need help. I need it.
Like, I don't know, no earmuffs for moms.
But I also think too that like. And I don't know if you guys like, depending on where we're at with this podcast, but at the same time, like, I think see a couple that has fitness as their forefront focus because then it also, it has directly affected my relationship. For sure. I've been up and down, thanks, guys. But for the most part, that was with myself. But then I look at like the fitness centered in a relationship completely changes the dynamic. And so now it's like, not only are you guys like being able to eat the same type of foods, but you're not resisting and pulling each other down.
It's more of just, yeah, Growing together.
Yeah. Which is cool to see because then I look for that when I'm looking at my relationship, like.
Yeah.
How valuable is my relationship? Well, I'm going to look at my parents, see how they're doing. And do I want all the same similarities, but do I want like majority of the core foundation? Yeah. And so if I have that, I don't need to be second guessing or doing a lot of the stuff that caused a lot of my up and downs with relationships because I know the core values I want because I see you guys demonstrate it. And majority of that started with body when mom started and then you followed.
You set a new precedence around our house. You changed the way we eat, change the way that we operate.
The food has gotten very boring.
Food has gotten boring.
Super good.
Chicken, fish, chicken rice, chicken broccoli.
Yeah.
If it's not Sunday, you fend him for yourself.
I'm excited to bring home the. Bring home the. The hardware.
I just would like some hardware right now. The whites currently have a record of standing on stage and only getting gold medals. So you. You got to bring home the gold.
Well, we are in the 45 plus category.
You got this.
Yeah.
You got that.
Actually, one of the reasons why I was scared to do a show. Not gonna lie.
Because you're the young.
No, because I'll be the first white to step on stage and not bring a gold home.
That excited for to see both of you with a spray tan.
Oh, my God. You guys are going to look like Donald Trump.
I'm going to now. I'm going to be. I'm going to be nice and golden brown.
Orange as hell.
Golden brown tan.
It's just funny because you can't tan. You're Irish. So, like, I have no tanning skills to see Enrique show up to Enrique.
Got it.
Sounds dirty here.
What.
