My friends, welcome to another episode of Date. You did what the.
It's called date your wife. Welcome. Welcome to the show.
Welcome to the show. Date your wife. My brain got ahead of my son.
Who are you dating?
You. So listen, we have. We have all kinds of different guests on here. As you know, we started bringing guests on about a year ago last summer based on Danielle's amazing insight and perspective on it, which I thought was a great addition. We've been doing the show for years by ourselves, and bringing guests on has brought in a different energy every single week. So we have a special couple today. Now, I know you hear me say that every time. It's because they're all special. They're all special in their own unique way. Like a box of crayons. I'm very special. Big box of crayons. Lots of different flavors and colors. All the things in the rainbow of people and personalities. So the couple we have today is going to bring a different angle on the conversation of relationship, and they are my favorite people at 5am at the elevation Gym. Yes. I'd like to introduce you to my after picture known as Travis Wallace.
Oh, man.
Appreciate you having me and Sophia.
I know. I'm getting there. No, no, no, no. Now to his left is the current fitness model at elevation 5am who has encouraged us to join her on leg day. And so now our leg day is officially on Mondays now. So, Sophia, welcome to the show.
Thank you for having me.
Okay, so are you the only girl.
At 5am Pretty much.
No, it's like one or two.
There's like two.
Yeah, there's a few girls that ride the glider. He's like.
I told him. I'm like, we should live together. He's like, you have to come at 5. And I was like, no, I'm like a 9am or. Sorry.
I told her, Sophie's ready to lift every morning.
I think if I got up that early, I think I would, like, come back and go to bed. Like, I guess your body gets used to it. Yeah, it'll be ready to rock.
Yeah, listen, she used to get up and go to master swim class.
Oh, that's true. I had my. I had so many years of doing that that now, like, I'm. I'm like, I don't want to do that anymore.
Okay, you ready?
Let's do this.
Okay, so who saw who first? Like, you're going through. Was it at the gym? Who's got this?
She was an athlete at Florida Gulf Coast University, and I was actually a strength coach at Florida Gulf Coast University. For the men's team. She played tennis. So if you know us from back then, what it looks like, it looks like I was a coach talking to an athlete. So those type of people probably believe that happened, but it really never happened. So I seen her. She was a tennis player. I knew who she was, but I never spoke to her. So even this, let alone is still five, six years ago. Would it be like, there's no chance that this would be this?
Yeah.
And then when she graduated, I happened to move to Miami as well. And I used to do fitness classes on Saturdays. So I was just reaching out to anybody in Miami, like, hey, you guys want to come to my class? I'm just start doing fitness classes on Saturdays. And she started coming, and the. The beauty of it is, like, she started to help me build that. And that was just like a class on Saturday. So that's kind of how it came about.
Yeah.
So I seen her years ago when she was a student and I was a coach. So it looks like we were doing something back then that we was supposed to be doing, but we really wanted.
To know each other then.
Back then, she knew, and she knew who I was. I knew who she was. But okay, never. Like, I would see she actually got hurt and she would come do rehab and stuff like that, but I would never speak to her. Never talk.
Did you want to speak to her?
Did I want to speak to her back then? No, I really actually did, like, because she, like, her personality is really quiet. She wasn't giving off a vibe that, like, you know, hey. Like, she wouldn't. She just keep walking. That girl's weird. So it was just like, she was just one of those, like, hey. And I was just like, okay. So. Yeah, I would have never thought that. No, I would have never thought.
But what were you thinking? Were you thinking a little something else? Do you think he was hot back then?
Yeah. Yeah. But I don't know. I had it like, okay, he's a coach. Like, it was never like that, you know, fantasy, like, oh, my God, he's a coach.
Yeah, but you were. You were feeling it.
Yeah.
I mean, I thought he was good looking.
Yeah. Were you ever, like, hiding out behind the bleachers watching her swing the rack?
He wouldn't come to the games.
Yeah, I didn't.
Yeah. I never tell him this, this, this thing, the situation that we have. Like, I would never thought five years ago, and I knew her, but just because, like, you just.
Neither of you gave each other that energy.
Exactly. Just kind of were, like, in her personality. She's not about to go talk to a coach like that.
Not her.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, I.
To go talk.
No, I'm going to go hit on my coach. Not happening.
That's not her.
Okay, so come back. So you were there playing tennis.
Yeah.
You were, like, really good. This was like, your passion. Tennis. Tell us about it.
Yeah, I played for over 20 years. Tennis, like, grew. Grew up with my sister. My dad was my coach. I absolutely loved it. And yeah, after college, I noticed, like, that was probably the end of it. And then here we are.
Were you playing with, like, competing all over the place from the time you were young?
Yeah. So I competed in the Costa Rican national team since I was little. And then I came to us and played for college.
Okay, got it. What was the injury?
I had a hip. Hip injury. So I had a hip surgery.
When?
That's when I was doing rehab. And then recently I had a hip replacement.
Probably the youngest person in the world.
Wow.
To have a hip replacement.
Wow.
And I would never know. When did you have hip replacement?
Last year.
You wouldn't even know.
Never know. That's how I slowed you down at the gym at all.
Yeah.
Wow. Okay. So was tennis your dad's push, or did you.
My dad's push.
Was your dad really good at tennis, too?
No.
He had been investing money in a bank, and the bank kind of like, closed. So he lost a lot of part of the investment. So he's like, okay, we're going to pay for college with sports.
No.
So that's how it started.
Got it. So. But he didn't play tennis real good.
No.
He just put you with coaches.
But, yeah, he put us with coaches. As many coaches out there, they don't really care. They have a thousand students. He's like, I have two kids. They have to be the best at what they do.
Wow.
So he coached us. Yeah.
Okay. So you have them. You had the athlete mindset.
Yeah.
Danielle was a lifeguard.
I just want to get paid to tan. If somebody drowned, I'm not sure.
Tell them about your tryout.
This is funny.
Yours are gorgeous. But tell them about your athletic endeavor.
To go try out. You had to try out to take the lifeguard certification class. And I'm like, you had to swim a 500 meter? And I'm like, the last one in the pool. I'm like, it's taking a really long time. And the lifeguard taps. And he's like, you need to get out. And I'm like, no, I'll finish. He goes, you know, you can't swim. You need to get out. So I had to go. I went and took like master swim classes. Like, I knew how to swim, but I didn't know how to like do the strokes correctly. But it was just funny because he's like, no, you can't swim, you need to get out. I was like, okay.
So there we go. We got professional athlete and we have a great lifeguard. Hey, that was your history basketball star.
I ended up taking masters and became a lifeguard.
So, you know, she can shoot a mad three pointer and when she's drinking, she'll bring the rain with the basketball. Okay, good. So. So the sports background, Trav you all, I competed big time. Also talk a little bit about your background sports.
So played basketball my entire life. Got a scholarship, University of North Florida, which is in Jacksonville, Florida. Played there and then played professionally in Finland and Slovakia. So when I went to Europe, it was cool, my professional athlete. But I realized like early, I'm like, this is not. I'm making life changing money. A lot of people go play overseas and everybody thinks they're making like they're not. You know, I'm making like 2500amonth. I'm like, I can go, I can go do this at McDonald's, you know what I'm saying? But people stay because they love the game so much. I'm a realist. I'm like, why don't I just go get my life started and kind of get into what I want to get into? So I went to grad school at Virginia Commonwealth University, got my master's and it started training athletes at that time. So I was training the college athletes. And then my goal was always like, hey, look, I want to make it to the NBA. I don't want to work for NBA team. I want to work with one person and just train that one person. Because that one person has to pay you pretty heavily if you're 24, seven with them. And my first check I ever got was from an NBA player that's been 10 years strong of doing that. So that's kind of my story and kind of manifested it. I'm a big believer in, you know, your subconscious mind and what you believe is going to happen will obviously eventually happen.
Who Was your first NBA?
His one and only. His name's Kyle Lowry. This is year 20 for him. He's a champion. He's an Olympian. He's a six time NBA all star at this point.
Okay, so we're Gonna back the story up a little bit. Okay. So we ignore each other at college, but the tension is building. Okay, so you run the class on Saturday. You still got her number? How you got her number? As her coach.
How did I get your number?
When did you notice her? When we were.
Yeah, so before the classes, we kind of were talking a little bit.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I would, like, try to. Oh. Oh, you're gonna love this one. You're gonna love this.
This is what happens when the truth starts coming out. So I got.
I guess I got her number once I left because I had left the school. And so at this point, I'm traveling, and I'm like, you know, with the NBA players, I'm doing all this. So this is why I really enjoy having about my side. I've tried, so I think I told you this. I've tried so many times. Hey, look, I'm in Vegas. Come out to Vegas. Hey, I'm in Cabo. Come out to Cabo. And she would always tell me no. Always tell me no. Like, I'm not doing it. That's not who I am. And I'm like, come on, man. Like, look. Look at. Look where I'm at. Showing her big villa in Marbella, and she never, Never would, you know, bite on. On. On the bullet. So that really spoke highly of her of, like, that's not what I'm on. So that's kind of how it initially started, but then it never became anything. She started coming to my class, but I forgot about that. Yeah, I would always try.
Every time he's inviting you to the. To the big places with athletes, you were. You were saying no. Why were you saying no?
Well, I mean, look at him. He looks like kind of like a bad boy, you know? So I was like, I'm not about. You know, just go spend your weekend and come back. And then what? Like, I'm not about that life. And then when I started going to the classes and actually hear him speak, I'm like, oh, there's actually more to him. So, yeah, it was. It was interesting. Like, actually hearing him speak was what, like, drew me more towards him.
Wow.
The. The. The class was called treat Saturday like a Tuesday. And the idea of it was to get people in Miami to treat Saturday like a Tuesday. So I used to always tell people, if you treat this day, this Saturday like any other day, you will move further in life.
Right?
Everybody goes parties and drinks every Friday night, and Saturday night, they just let it go. So that was the whole mindset behind it. I Think that she kind of was falling into the trap of Miami at the time. You know, you're fresh out of school. Her parents own a business. So it's kind of like, you know, like, I'm going to work for my parents. You're just kind of going into the mold of, of what you know is happening. You can party, you can do all that. All you have to do is show up to work with your parents. Like, it's not, you know, it's not the end of the world if you show up a little hungover or not. And just hearing my message about Tree Saturday like a Tuesday, and the reason behind it, it kind of helped her kind of refocus. And I think that's what truly, you know, helped her and kind of started.
It wasn't like a fitness class, it was like a motivation class.
No, it was a fitness class. It was, it was a high intensity class group. But that was the message. So people would, I had shirts. People wear Tree Saturday like a Tuesday shirt. But it was always like a 10 minute message of me. Just speaking of why this class is called Tree Saturday like a Tuesday, like the mindset behind it, because people would walk in there and be like, what does that even mean? And then I explained, like, imagine if you did this for the rest of your life. You treated this day like a Tuesday. You would be surprised how, how you elevate in life.
Right. And I was at that point where I like lost my identity. Like, I had just graduated, was not a tennis player anymore. I'm like, I'm like working with my parents. It's not my passion, but I do it because it's the family business. So it's like I don't know what to do other than party. It's like what made me feel good. So I lived for Thursday. Friday and Saturday and the other day were just filler days. When I started hearing his message, I'm like, there's more to it, you know, like, I don't have to be wasting all these days. And it's like, so, yeah, he kind of like saved me in that way.
So it's easy to get sucked in that life in Miami. Yeah, big time.
Because there's all like, even a Tuesday can feel like a Saturday. Yeah. Every night. It's weird.
I think a lot of people treat Tuesday like a Saturday.
Yeah, it's like when we moved here, we'd get invited to dinners at like on a Tuesday and they're like 9pm Good. And we're like what.
We actually were. That's Why? I mean, we socialize. It's just not the idea. People call us up, like, every weekend. Hey, come down South Beach. Come down this day. What time you guys meeting? 9:15. We're like, oh, bro, we're already gonna be in bed.
I just know, like, if I stay up late and I can party, but if I stay up late and party, like, I'm wrecked the next day. And I'm like, I can't be completely trashed.
Okay, so when does this go from to, like, when does it go from he's interesting to I want to devalue.
When did you have your first date?
Like.
Cause you're. You're doing the classes together.
No, no, no, no.
She was.
She was actually. She was. Oh, she was actually paying. She's paying her 25.
That's right.
And then. But no, she eventually just started, like, helping me and giving me, like. Like, it was maybe smaller even, like, picking up or coming early to set up little things that just in her nature to do. So I don't think that was, like, her, like, trying. It's just. That's who she is, you know? She's always trying to help. And then I kind of seen something in her. I'm like, yo, she really wants me to succeed. And this is a stupid class on a Saturday. Not stupid, but it's like a little class on for 45 minutes one time a week.
Right.
And she cared about it, you know, so.
Because it impacted. Impacted you. Yeah, yeah.
She truly cared about it. I never forget, I would say, like, that, man, we probably were dating at this time. But the turning point was one time, we went to eat, we grabbed a napkin, and she had me, like, write down my goals and, like, what did I want on it? She still has a napkin, which is crazy. It's probably, like, three years ago.
Wow.
And just writing on the napkin, like, what do you want? How do you want to do it? And, you know, it's. A lot of that has came true since. Since that napkin.
Was that. Was that drill of writing things down like this. Was that something you had done as an athlete also?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. For a long time. Like, I believe, like, writing down helped me clear my mind. Sometimes you bottle up so much in your mind that you can't organize it and writing it down. You just feel more relief. So that's what I was trying to do.
So. And you did. Did you write him down on a napkin? I actually did when he wasn't around. Did you pull a napkin on. Just write down Travis Wallace on There.
Yeah.
I think also, it never. You know, we can't. Like, our backgrounds are completely different. So she sees a different. Like, her parents have been married for 30 or 29 years, 28 years. My father did life in prison. Like, so it's like, a completely different outlook from both of us. You know, I'm a grinder. Just. I'm gonna figure it out. She's seen people build businesses and see them do things, so she thinks a different way. Like, I've always. Like, people say, like, I've always got it out the mud. Nothing was handed to me at all. And then she kind of has a perspective of, like, I can. I see how it's been done. Let me help you. So it's kind of like the best of both worlds when it comes to that.
It's. It's funny because Garrett was. He's always, like, saying, I was raised with nothing. Raised in a trailer. My parents were entrepreneurs, like, successful. Like, so when he met me, there was, like, a different standard, just different upbringing. And actually, for a lot of our first, like, first part of our marriage, like, he, like, made me almost feel bad how I was raised, and I was like, I can never apologize for having these standards. Like, that's why I married you, but I expect you to, like, meet these standards. And so it was, like, an interesting dynamic for, like, a lot of the early years of our marriage, because that's how I was raised. So that's just, like, what I expected, but that's also, like, what I saw in him. I'm like, no, that's why I chose you. You know, like, don't think of this as a negative thing. Like, I see. I always say, like, women pick their man on the potential of who they know they can become. Yeah. You know, so it's like, you're probably dating, and you're like, oh, you're like, he's cute, but you also. Did you see, like, kind of the potential of what he could do?
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, just seeing the passion he put in those, like, classes, because other than that, I didn't really knew what he did. I'm like, you're charging 25 bucks, but you're giving people, like, real life lessons. Or at least I saw it that way because my life did change from that point on, like, completely 180, because I stopped partying, I stopped drinking. I started, like, investing more in myself, taking my transformation more seriously, so actually finding a passion for myself a lot of times, like, I graduated again, like I said, like, playing tennis. I lost my Identity, didn't know what to do. And he helped me find, find my passion. So that's what I saw. And like he can pull this out of people, you know, he has the potential to do that at a greater scale. So.
So do you push him? Where did, where did the $25 class go? I mean, I assume you've moved past that.
Definitely pushed me, but there was something that you said that I don't want to use lightly. Like you said, you come from that background of like a successful family and things like that. And we just had this conversation not too long ago because I think she kind of looked at it the opposite way, I think sometimes. And we had this conversation, I said, you look at it as a bad thing, you know, And I think because of my situation, sometimes it's like, well, she doesn't, like, she doesn't want to feel like something was handed to her, you know, And I'm like, well, if my kids, I want to put them in a situation where they don't have to go through what I did. So never look at it from a bad, you know, from a, you know, a standpoint of like, well, I was, I was, I was spoon fed or something like that. So it's great that you have that mindset because I literally just told her about that. I'm like, you have something that I wish I would have had. Yeah. So take advantage of it. So.
Yeah, it's always a guest showing too though, right? Because when we're watching with our kids.
Yeah, yeah.
Like our 18 year old lives at Flo in downtown Miami. This amazing condo, paid for car, pay for condo, pay for cell phone. She was supposed to cover a couple utilities and some things. We found out we were paying for all that too. She has a job with us. And my kids face a different challenge, which is they were raised with everything, so now trying to get them to go. My son's finally ripping and going and doing his thing. But it's a different challenge. And I remember feeling like, what Danielle, what kind of fucked me up too with it is I always, I remember the first time, the way her parents looked at me when I pulled up to their house. I pull up in a shitty car. I hadn't even got the Honda Prelude yet.
I don't know, I can't remember. I think you had.
I don't think I did. Did I have it?
I think you did.
I don't think I did. We were still dating the Dodge Spirit.
When I, when I met him, he literally had a thousand dollar car. It Was like, the biggest piece of ever. And we're. We're like. We went on, like a date. We got some ice cream or something.
And we like, no, no, no. The first date we went on, I borrowed another girl's blazer. Yeah.
He was embarrassed of his car, so he. And then like, finally on, like, our third date, I was like, oh, whose car is this? He's like, oh, it's mine. And I was like. And I knew I caught on. I was like, oh, that's cute, whatever. But we're like. We're driving and we park, and all of a sudden his hubcap goes bouncing down the street. And I was like, are those expensive? Because it's rolling down the street. He goes, oh, it's just from Walmart.
Those are pop on spinners.
How old are you at this time?
Pop on spinners.
I met him when I was 18.
I was 25.
Okay.
So I was 25 years old, divorced, had my son, and then my son was in Canada. And then Danielle and I met. She was 18, I was 25. And now this was the initial scene.
But.
But the funny thing is my parents were like, are you sure? Like, there's. My mom said to me, there's a lot of fish in the sea. And because he had been married, divorced, I'm 18. And I remember just thinking, like, it doesn't matter what he decides he's gonna do. He'll be successful, whatever it is. So I'm not worried about this piece of shit car. I'm not worried about him being married, divorced. I connect with him. And I know whatever he's gonna do, he's gonna kill it. So that's kind of like people were questioning me, and I'm like, no, no, no, I'm good. I know he's my person, but it was just an interesting dynamic in the beginning because we came from different backgrounds. And it's also funny too, because we have our 14 year old. She's, like, embarrassed to invite people over. And I'm like, that's so silly. I'm like, why? Like, why? And she's like, I don't want people to like me for my house or whatever. I said, even if we didn't have the house, you're really pretty. People are attracted to pretty people.
Yeah.
They'll find something. Yeah.
There was a piece of me that was, like, constantly trying to prove to myself that I was worthy for her, which, unfortunately, I didn't figure that out for 20 years. So in the beginning stage, it was, like, rough because, like, her family Came from something. They were the ones going to Hawaii. I went on a plane. My first time going on recruiting trip in high school, my senior year. I'd never been on a plane before. Like, I. I didn't understand any of it. Like, even like, go. I didn't know it was go to go get menu and like, search based upon what you wanted. I didn't even get drinks at dinner ever. Just did water because I didn't want to spend money on soda. I didn't like or anything. I just. I didn't even know. And she came from a different world. Was just like, yeah, let's go, my dad's got a card. Let's go get it. Yeah, let's go do this. I got a gas card. So I know concept of it. So there's always a sense of I'm going to build and prove that I'm worthy to have this woman. The challenge was, is in the first 10 years, I became addicted to the hunt and forgot her, like, in a big way. Like, just literally forgot her. I was gone like six days a week just working as a banker, just grinding, grinding. Once I found money, like, being an athlete, I got done playing football too. It was the same thing. Remember the last game? Arena Ball. So I'm in Canada. Then came back, played Arena League. And my last game, I'm just like, done. I didn't know who the fuck I was. But then I found money and the money became obsession for me. But I forgot that the only reason I was getting the money was so that I could feel worthy to be with her. But she'd already chose me when I didn't have shit. So it's like weird fucking loop in your brain where you're like, what am I doing? What am I doing? So you guys are in the push, grind phase right now, building. But before we get there, when did you two become a thing? Thing.
Okay. I mean, Jesus, this is like, I'm glad we can address this.
When I went to the fitness class, but then I talked to her because I was a coach. Okay, so when did we decide, okay, she's hot, I'm. Let's go.
So we went. We went on a couple dates, and then he kind of like ghosted me. So I'm like, what is going on? Like, you pursue me for so long and then like, I'm interested, and then you're out. He's like, no, it's just like. I mean, we're hanging out, and then we ended up going to New York. He took me to New York and then one night I was like, so what are we doing? Like, are we dating? Are we just chilling?
Like, that was the most awkward.
I'm like, are you gonna ask me to be your girlfriend ever? Or like, that's not where this is headed. He's like, I have to ask you.
Yeah, I thought, I didn't know. I didn't know. You still say like, will you be my girl?
I mean, the same guy that's inviting me to go to la.
No. No problem. Hey, come to Cabo. Hey, come to Cancun. Hey, come to. Come to la. Like be your girlfriend?
Why would I ask you exactly that? But yeah, that's exactly how it happened. So.
Okay, so you asked her?
Yeah. Yeah.
No, no, no, she didn't. I told him.
You told him you're.
Yeah. I'm like, what are we doing? My girlfriend. Am I your girlfriend? He's like, yeah.
Oh yeah. So he still didn't say it?
No.
Till this day.
Ask her right now, will you be my girlfriend? Okay. Yeah.
It's funny.
Okay. So did you guys moving together?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay, so we're, we're in, we're in the serious pocket. Okay. You met her family?
Yeah. Yeah.
Okay.
Where do your families live?
They live in Sunny Isle. Mine live in Atlanta, hers live in Sunny Isle. They live here.
Close by. Close by. Okay. So the family business your parents run, what's that?
It's a freight forwarding company to Costa Rica. So we shift from Miami to Costa Rica.
Okay, got it. Yeah, that's, that's, that's definitely effective business. Probably not very exciting.
Yeah.
To be involved in. Okay, good. So you guys kind of went on your own little fitness journey together though too in the last couple years. I was like seeing some photos of you just a couple years ago to now. I was like, okay, good job. How has fitness brought you two together?
I feel like we've challenged each other, you know, like you're never like bad looking or anything, but like there's always more of a level to you, you know, not, not just physically but like mentally and like what that does for you. So I feel like we've holding each other accountable on those days. Like we feel like slacking and stuff. So to the point where like we probably overly obsessed with like fitness and like eating. So now we're trying to hold it back, but I feel like that's what it's done. It's made us more aligned with who we want to be and knowing there's an extra level to us.
Okay. So recently at the Gym, you guys brought out a camera, but it just teased everyone and then you don't bring it back tomorrow. So talk to me about the camera problem and why this camera has been hidden.
No, it'll be back tomorrow. Well, yeah, it's just, it's. Some days we do different. We do different things.
I'm not giving up my glute day.
I'm not doing just straight glutes. So I'm not. Yeah, that's not happening. So we've had that conversation. You do your glute days, I do much yesterday, we'll do back and things together. But yeah, so now it'll be back. But yeah. Fitness has been tremendous for us in terms of like, I think a lot of times people look at fitness, it's just like you want to look good, but the idea of how it aligned us. And I've always been into fitness, but once I took it to another level and was able to teach people and, and take it away from just you want to look good, like you want to push yourself to see how far you can possibly, possibly take yourself.
Right.
And when you start looking at that from that avenue, it starts to bleed into business and bleed into other areas in life and even in our relationship. It's like, is this all I got or is there another level I can take it to? And that's what like fitness has been just kind of like our, our vehicle that's helped us drive and continue to, you know, to grow.
When did you guys start working together like inside the business?
A year ago, 16 months ago.
Because you were working for your parents and you were kind of doing your own thing with the NBA within and then you launched your own program together a year ago.
Yep.
So seen Wes Wes online. This is probably Feb. January of 24th, January of 24. And she actually comes. Then you were gone and she, she came home one day. I was like, yeah, I just bought some $7,500 program.
He's like, we're going to start counting micros. I'm like, what do you mean?
I just bought some program. I just showed him some dude and, and the day is so funny. Shout out to him. But the day that I bought it, I didn't even do his program. I just, I understood how he did what he did and the next day I started making money. So shout out to him on that for sure. But it just opened my mind. I'm like, I've been training, I've been doing this for 10 years, but I never knew how to package it in a Way where I could help somebody. I didn't understand the nuances of this and that and what comes with it. So, yeah, so we recently just started it and, like I said, a year, and it's been amazing for us.
What's it been like building together, Sophia, for you? Building something out. I mean, because we've gone down, we've built children together, we built companies together, and we've gone through the up and the downside of building shit together.
I think you have to, like, define your roles inside of business. Like, how do you guys. How do you guys work together?
Yeah, I think we never overstep what each of us do. Like, he works more with the men, I work more with the women. When it comes to the creative side, we both come together. And I also like to take a back step and, like, do like, the operations and stuff. I mean, it's what I did for my parents for so long. So that's what I'm passionate about. But there's something that I admire so much in him, like, seeing him do that, that it just makes me want to continue and help him build, because that's. That I find that so attracted in him, like, and bringing that out of him.
What's the messaging behind your business?
So it's so funny. When we first started all, like, I wrote a book and everything about reinventing yourself. Like, that was the idea of it. And I started doing public speaking. I spoke on stages, and it was just like, I think I was confusing people with messages. Like, I'm transforming people's body, but I'm talking about reinvent yourself and things like that. So we actually built. It's called the formula factory. And it's literally just people who are successful who have built something in their life, but have left their body behind. And the reason that it came to the point is because I've worked with players who've made 30, 40 million dollars a year. @ the end of the day, if these dudes don't like the way they look, they don't like the way they feel, none of it matters.
Right.
And once that clicked, because I used to hide behind the NBA thing because I was like, I want to start something new. I'm tired of being identified as this NBA trainer until I had a business coach. It's like, you have something that 0.1% of the world has ever done. You've trained the best athletes in the world. It's the same mindset with these highly successful people. Once they get everything they want in the world, they still come back To I got to get in shape, I got, I gotta feel better about myself. I want my wife to look at me different. So once I started to understand that and, and putting it together, that's kind of been the people we've helped the most.
So how do you guys, how do you guys work in building? Like what's a week look like building together? I see you at the gym with what you do with the video. But like day to day, like how does that operate with you too?
So I mean obviously you see the videos, you see a lot of things like that. Obviously we're in the stages of, we talked about the ads and, and understand the operations and understand how to build actual systems or not like grinding it out, working so hard. And obviously I love that aspect of. I love to have my hands dirty with 70 people in my program, whatever it may be at the time. And she's always the one like yo, there's gotta be a smarter way. But I just never want people to feel like they're getting less of me, which I'm learning. And I'm pretty sure you understand that with a hundred thousand whatever people that you know, it's like it's impossible to, to, to give. Also she's always constantly teaching me and showing me ways. Like I asked her like how do your parents do it? How do they did it? And she'll teach me certain things that they've done to like even the, the machine that you guys have or whatever it is. But they do, they do something but it's just taking the concepts of it, like it's only one of me and understanding how to, how to scale. And that's been my biggest issue right now is like how do I scale myself? Because I'm so physically hands on with everybody and I know it's impossible.
I feel like the camera's always on because we're in bed, he's looking the other way. Then he rolls back, he's like, you know, we should try this with the ads. I'm like, I got to get better at that.
But we had the conversation on the boat, I was asking him, I was like, how do you turn that switch off? Like in this mode, in this mode, especially like in the grinding out area. Like I know like, you know, that could be something I do have to work on, but I'm non stop thinking and how do we improve this? And I think it goes back to what you said. It's not even about me. Like I want to do it for her, I want to do it for our Future family. I don't. I wear sweats every day and not care. But I want her to live a certain lifestyle. I want our family to live a certain lifestyle. So I just want to make sure she always understands. Like, I don't care, man. She's always like, you should get this. And I'm like, I don't need that. Like, if you want it, we can get it, but I don't care, so. But I do have to. You know, I'm always like. It was like 10:00pm like, all right, I got it. So. But yeah, I asked him, a bum, like, how do you turn it off? And he's like, does he.
We, we, we, we. There's only a couple ways to turn it off.
I was like.
Turn off. One's a guaranteed turn off. Every time it's a turn on to turn it off.
You know what?
My energy has to focus. If she wants to drive me, she walk in naked. I don't think about ads anymore.
I'm like, okay, that, that's, that's how it turns off for sure. But I would say when you're an entrepreneur, like, you don't do the regular, like, Monday through Friday, 9 to 5, you know what I mean? So with your relationship, whether it's with your family, your kids, or together, you have to make intentional time and effort to do so, because your brain is always going to be thinking through problem solving.
Always.
Like, you cannot turn it off, right? So it's like, for. For us. And even when I'm with my kids, I have to, like, consciously be like, okay, I schedule my nanny, even though I'm working at home, because I don't want to have my kids see me on my phone, on my computer all day. You know what I mean? So I think you have to be intentional. Even when we go to dinner sometimes, we'll be talking about work. And I'm like, okay, I had to put a stop to, like, we're going to put a pin in this. We're not going to talk about this. You know, Then we just awkwardly stare at each other. Because.
I have a question, though. So it's like. And maybe both of you guys can answer it. What point? But do you think you have to reach a certain point to feel like you can turn it off? Because I do feel bad. Like, if I turn it off for 48 hours, I feel. I feel bad. Like, I feel like I'm letting us down. You know, I'm letting us down. Like, I'm not moving forward. So it's just like, I Just think there's a certain. Maybe there's no point. Maybe I'll look back one day and be like, I should have spent more time not thinking about it, you know, I don't know. But yeah. Like, when do you feel like you vacation?
Like, our little vacations. I feel like we're. We're better at turning it off, especially because we have, like, no kids on vacation and things like that. But we'll still do stuff for ourselves. Like, he'll get up and stack and do his thing. I'll get up and, like, look at my emails and go work out. So it's like we. Even on vacation, we still have a couple hours where we're like, working on something, which is fine, and then we'll turn it off and go play and do activities. I think vacations for us has been like a game changer in our marriage because, like, that's like, when I feel like we're the most connected too. Like, we just come back and we're like, oh, we're. We're kind of reconnected, you know.
Well, that's when you remember you're a woman. Well, I just a wife.
When you have kids, it's hard to turn it off. Like, not only do I think about business, but. But then like, there's like, you're always thinking about kids.
You know, it's perpetual. So here's, here's why I kind of map it, because it took me a long time to figure this out. Number one, it never ends until it ends. Meaning. But the end doesn't come from not creating guys exit businesses and they'll immediately, two months later, build another one. Because there's this game that builds in the beginning. You're building from pain, which is like, okay, I don't like where I'm at. I don't like what the situation feels like. I'm going to build something. I'm going to build to prove for her I'm worth it. I'm going to build to prove myself. And so you move from this painful situation, I'm going to learn how to produce. Then you're like, okay, well, what does production require? Okay, well, it's going to require me to have an offer. It's going to require me to market. It's going to require me to sell, it's going to require me to lead. And then I got to worry about systems and process and taxes and accounting and cash and insurance and all the shit that comes. So you're in this production mode to where you get to a place where you have a lot of certainty in your skills, you're not going, I feel like I can do this, no problem. Then burst the next thing. This is the high performing athlete that'll come out in both of you. Once you've established production, you know you're in abundance and you're in this place, you're like, okay, now it's not enough just to produce. Now I need to be the best. Now the obsession shifts into performance, which is like, okay, what is high performance look like now as a producer? So the pain of not producing drives the production. The pain of now not being the best now pushes elite. But here's where the challenge comes in. Performance. Everything in your life becomes a performance. And everyone around you becomes a performer in your performance. And so the game becomes nothing more than a performance loop. And so what happens in relationships is I'm going to perform and make the money. You perform and deliver the honey. And as long as you keep delivering honey, I'll be happy. As long as you keep producing money, I'll be happy. And we start to perform. You start to perform sexually, you start perform financially, and then the dance begins. Performance, performance, performance. And it's bigger and bigger. And this is the dance that her and I have been in for a long time. Bigger house, bigger trips, bigger this. More this. More this. More impact, more reach. More this. More, more, more, more, more. More strip teases, more strip dancing, more lingerie, more lingerie, More new positions, let's go. New trips, bigger cars. And this performance gain starts.
It gets exhausting to where you're like.
It'S never enough because it never is enough. There's no performance, right? Any athlete or works, it doesn't matter, they win a championship. What happens right after?
Oh, my God.
Next day training, you're at Alabama. Sabin wins another championship. The next morning, they're in game film. So the challenge, the benefit of the performance mind is the performance mind drives elite results. If you're performance driven in relationship, you're driving for an outcome. It's like, okay, when you do these things, we literally had checklists for each other. She'd be like, I will feel safe and secure when you give me these things. One of us a house. I was like, okay. I'm like, all right. So I just, I'm like, we get to the bottom of the list and she's still not happy. And then she would say, well, I need more time from you. I need more dates from you. I need you on vacations. I need more time away from the kids. So I gave them all to her. Trips every quarter for a week, two date nights a week, nanny coverage, cleaners, yard people, et cetera. I'm just using money to create the environment, thinking that I'm helping. And she's still not happy, and I'm still not happy. But we've produced all this, and people are like, how's this even possible? You could have a house and cars and all this and still not be happy. Because the one thing we're missing, which is presence, and this is what everybody loses. They don't recognize. When you're producing, you can be present, and the presence that's most important. So when you're laying in bed thinking about ads, and she's laying in bed going, we've done thinking about ads all fucking day, Trav. What I need you to do is not focus on ads. What I need you is focus on me. We think. Is that what you want me to do? You want me to squeeze this? Is that what you want? I mean, I want it. You want me to hold your ass like.
No.
All that up, too. What does she want? She wanted to be seen.
I think it's, like. Goes back to, like, connection, too, because about, like, two. Two years ago for us, like, we had, like, this beautiful. Our dream home in California. All these supercars in the garage, had physically, like, the most fit we'd ever been. Like. And I was like, some. What is. Why? What is missing? I felt like something was missing, and I was like, wow. In the pursuit of getting more and more and more, we forgot to, like, actually, like. Yeah, it was just, like. We could feel like it looked perfect, but there was. We could both tell there was, like, a piece missing. And I was like, it. I'll sell the cars, house and everything. I don't care. Like, that's not what I'm building this for, you know? So it's. It's constantly. It's constantly something that you have to have a conscious awareness of.
You know, when you guys are being raised, you guys are. You guys are building in a time that is incredibly challenging. Way challenging. Not for the fact that technology is not available and opportunities aren't available, but because of comparison. It's crazy. We grew up and built before that happened, and then we accelerated when it happened. But, like, being raised. I mean, Sophia, for you, as a woman, what does the comparison game show you on social media every day?
I mean, mostly, like, our bodies, like, how much we show, like, lifestyle.
Yeah. No matter how beautiful she is, there's, like, some girl, some other country that's got a nicer ass. And you're like, no matter how jacked you get at 285, if you go there, there's still some dude who has more cars. He's got something that's flaunting in her feet. No matter what I do, there's always a dude who's fucking bigger. He's got a giant yacht, he's got these cars. Oh, look at that guy. He's home at 2 o' clock every day with his kids. Fuck that guy. I don't give a fuck about that guy. Social media has created a world also where at your age you think you should all be further ahead. Multi, multi, multi, multi, multi, multi, multi, multi, multi millionaires. The success your parents have, you should have it at 27, which we didn't have that coming up. Nobody expected us to be rich, not at our age. So you could fuck off, you could try things, go for it. Nobody was like, where's your content? Content, bitch. I didn't even text you back. Like, I don't even know how to text. I remember friends are texting me like, bro, did you answer my text? I was like, I don't even know how to get a text, dude, what are you talking about? Nokia phones. He's like, it's a little envelope on his. I'm not gonna read that. Just call me. Dude, listen, we're texting when first we're dating and trying to send messages. You had to go, 1, 2, 3.
Guys, she not going to know.
You don't have a clue. I'm like 22 minutes trying to argue with her, sending like a two line text message and she's sending it back. It was the longest fight of all time. Like 4 hours to send like 4 sentences to each other. So talk about that though, because in the fitness space, you, dude, you got Wes here in Miami, you got all the. Everywhere you turn, there's some new fitness dude who shredded big, tatted, jacked Ferraris, Bugatti's houses, Colombia, Costa Rica, US, Miami, LA. Toronto, Dubai, doesn't fucking matter. It's like just spin the wheel and you're gonna see some shredded dude with cars talking about he's got everything figured out.
Yeah.
So when you sit in that environment you're trying to build, what do you two experience? Because we experience it different than what you guys experience.
I'm gonna tell you one, one thing that's really helped me and like I said, obviously I've been around like a lot of people who have things like that, but I know deep down inside, 99% of them want what I got. And I. And I. And I know that they have the cars, they have this, they go out every night, they pop bottles. But I know deep down inside, they want this, they want what we have. And I figured that out because I've spoken to a lot of people that level, and there's like, I'm looking for this, I'm looking for that. You're describing my life like you haven't said anything about, I want this. I want to. I want a woman who supports me. I want it. She's always, you know, with me and, And. And. And push me to new levels. So it's hard to see sometimes because, like, you know, you said the cars, the. The money. Like I said, not for me, because I want her to live a certain lifestyle. But I do know there's a hole in a lot of those people, and I have what they. What they want to fill that hole.
So. So.
So there's a lot of rich people that are, like, spiritually broke, you know, like, they. They, like, they could go out and buy, like, a new car, new watch, new one, and it's just, like, for a high, and they're chasing something, you know, See, in the pursuit of trying to make money and success, like, good, good that you have, like, don't. Don't lose that, you know, Because I think a lot of people with wealth, they. They do. They, like, they lose. They lose sight of it. They're just like, oh, another car, another house, another this. And you're like, what are you chasing?
And that's why I think sometimes, like, it can get frustrating because, like, can you do both? I think that can get frustrating, and I believe so. But that's what can get frustrating as a man sometimes, because a lot of times when you see that, they don't have that right. So it's like, can you not do both? And then, you know, is it like, that's where it can be for. I know you can. But that's the frustration I think a lot of people can see because those guys usually don't have something as stable as I have because they're like, yo, for 20 years, I just grinded out. I didn't do it. You know what I'm saying? I didn't take anybody serious or. Or that type of situation. But obviously, I do know you can build both.
So what do you want him to build?
Anything he wants to build. I'll just pack my shit and go with him and help him. But for me, like, the Most frustrating part is seeing him, like, so frustrated and, like, overwhelmed. And I'm like, I can't do anything. I'm waiting for him to, you know, lead and be like, this is what we're doing. Okay, I'm on board. Just tell me what my role is, and I'll. And I'll do it. So that's the frustrating part for me. Sometimes I can't. I can't open his mind and do it for him, you know? So I feel that's my. That's my personal struggle when building.
And I would tell you one thing that frustrates me, and I've reached it to the highest level in the NBA, in my field. So when I got into this business, it was like, now I forgot that it took me 10 years to. You forget about that? Like, took you 10 years to get to a point where you're at right now. And then when you start this new thing, it's like, hey, man, like, I got all these dudes doing this and that. And it's like, that's what kind of plays in my head, where the frustration and you forget, you know? So, like, somebody can look at you and it's like, yo, you. You understand? It took me X amount of years where now you're looking at me, and it's like, well, how'd you do it? It's like, you wouldn't have done half of the stuff I had to do to get where I'm at. So I think it's. It's. That's what frustrates me the most. It's like, I've reached the highest, and why isn't it happening as quick? And it's like, well, Travis, it took you 10 years to do that, so.
It'S crazy, though, because I was. I experienced something similar, but I'm in, like, the hair world, right? And I'm like, oh, I, like, build my hair companies, all this stuff, and now I want to, like, jump into something else. And I'm like, oh, I gotta prepare myself to be really shitty. Like, but it's hard when you've, like, built something and you're like, I'm not. I'm really good at this. To, like, go back to, like, oh, I'm not that great at this. You know? And I think that's the struggle. Anybody goes through spaces when they're building something is you got to be willing to be crappy again. You know? How do you. How do you, like. But then when you feel like it's your calling, you're like, okay, I Did that. Is that what it is for you? Is it something you feel like, called.
What I'm doing now? Yes. 100. Like, I know I could continue to train in big players for the next 20 years of my life, but it's not what I want to do.
Right.
I know.
He. He.
He fights with me every morning, like, hey, do this.
Do this.
And it's like, because for the last 10 years, we. This is how you get to that level. And it's not the same in this new game. It's completely different in that game. It's more of, like, you know, straightforward structure, professionalism. Not saying, but no online game is completely flipped. So when I see people being successful not the way that you get successful in the NBA world, it's like, well, do I have to completely have this identity shift that he talks to me a lot about? Which is. It's tough. Like, it seems easy, but it's tough because, like, that's not the way you do it in that world. But in this world, it's completely different.
Well, and that's. That's a flip that happens in relationship because I'm telling you, like, the. The person. I want you to listen to what she said. I will follow you wherever you take me. Do you understand the trust it takes a woman to submit into this massive.
I think women want to be led, though.
Do you know how many women don't say this? Most. Instead of the support they are.
Uber.
Eats is here for you guys.
It's like, I didn't even know we had a doorbell.
Keep going.
That's so funny, right? Like, should we keep going or edit this out?
When did y' all get a doorbell?
I. I don't even know where adorable is. That's why I was really surprised that just rang. I was like, I don't know how.
There. It's the FedEx guy.
Oh, okay.
It's the gate. I was like, I'm pretty sure we don't have a doorbell.
There's no way they have a doorbell.
Okay. All right.
Yeah. You just said something. What did you just say?
So if you look at what she said, she just said because, like, this is how Danielle started. Danielle was like, this, this, and then I turned her into something different. I it up legit. She was all in. She would have gone anywhere with me at any time. The only thing she wanted from me. You tell them what you want. Yes, you wanted me succeed. Yes, you wanted me build, but you want something else. Like, I wasn't giving it to you.
No. I feel like when we got married. He was so focused on building something that, like, he kind of forgot about me. And it was like, how we were raised. It was very much like the guy goes out and hunts and the woman. Like, I didn't even. Like, I supported him working, but I was like, I never see him. And so I thought I was like, oh, I just have to, like, sacrifice that. And, like, you'd work to, like, 10 or 11 at night and, like, come home. Like, we'd go. We didn't have kids when we were first married, obviously, but we'd go, like, to dinner. But it just felt like we went from, like, being obsessed with each other when we were dating. Then we got married, and it was like he was, like, gone all the time. And so, you know, you do that for three, four, or five years, you're going to get, like, disconnected. Plus, you throw a baby in the mix. Like, then I'm just all in with the baby, and he's just hustling and working. And so then we ended up having a second kid because I was like. I felt, like, so hollow, and I was like, a baby makes me happy. I didn't like him at the time. So we had another baby. And then we actually financially lost everything after my second baby. And so that you didn't turn, like, when he's like, I turned her into something different. It wasn't that. It was like, I wanted to follow him wherever he was going and thought that that meant I had to sacrifice. Sacrifice time with him. Does that make sense? And that. That now I'm like, okay, I realize, like, I. I. Like, I. Not that I messed that up, but I was like, I don't need to sacrifice time that actually drew us apart.
And it's.
What are you gonna say?
Because.
Not because this is like, we don't talk about as much, but this is like, it's a deep conversation and deep feeling for me because she's willing to submit and do and follow me. And I have to feel like I have to lead you somewhere. Somewhere. And I think that's where the titans clash is. Like, okay, whatever you say. Wherever we're gonna do, we're gonna go. And it's like, if I feel like we're not going anywhere because I'm trying to make sure you're okay, but now I'm not leading you nowhere. As a man, it's like a constant battle. It's like, I have to go focus on this so I can actually lead you somewhere. So I don't have the answer for it. But I think that's the. The battle that maybe is a different language in her head. It's like, oh, it's like you're telling me you'll do whatever you want or whatever you know, from. And follow me. I have to lead you somewhere. That it was worth you following me, you know?
Well, possibly what's worth her following is just being with you.
Yeah, maybe you're putting too much pressure on yourself, Travis.
Yeah, it could be possible.
I just know because of what I did and what I've watched thousands of guys do. I sit with the carnage and the chaos of what happens when a man enters this phase and then goes subatomic nuclear on a commitment to win. They win and they lose. Like, this is the guys I'm sitting in their houses around Miami. Last three weeks. Second marriages, third marriages. They've got real estate all over the place. Everything's high level. And they're all sitting in the same place. Like, for what? The woman I really wanted, I'm not with anymore because I fucked that up. Now, these women I'm with now, it's like, whatever you think. I have 20 dimes in my backyard, and I don't give a about any of them. See, this is the hard part. It's like when I was. When I was first. Let's see. I was 30. I was 31. I was sitting with a mentor out on his. On his boat at Bear Lake. He was gonna die in the next, like, three months. And he looked at me in 2007 and he said, listen, there's two things that got it done over. As your mentor, as a friend, let me tell you one, here's a counsel in real estate. Get rid of all your real estate. Go liquid to cash. Compress your company down from the size it is to about four or five people, sit and wait. Because the shit's gonna course correct, and when it does, it's gonna knock everyone out. I didn't listen. Second, he began. Once he knew he was diagnosed terminally ill, he went, fuck the businesses, because he'd been working so hard forever. And he just went all in with his kids for like a year. Every day with his kids all day long with his wife all in, et cetera. And he's like, second thing is, enjoy your family while you're building. So of course, I didn't listen to that either. So I understand the obsession button. It's like the problem of being a mentor to anyone is the fact that you watch the path they're on and the obsession burning in the eyes. And outside of you not taking your shirt off enough at the gym and letting everybody know how jacked you are, you're in the obsession pocket. And that obsession pocket comes with a consequence. There is a. There is a cause and an effect to the obsession. And the only thing that can't happen. You can't forget her. And it's very easy. Wait until it starts working. People think that building shit's addictive. No, building shit with momentum. That's cash money. Reigning is the most addictive drug. It's more addictive than basketball. It's not even about buying shit. People think it's about these yachts. Go back behind my house. These dudes don't give a fuck about this. Sitting on that yacht, all he's thinking about is the next thing he's going to bang down. And he's not talking about women, contracts. The most addictive power in the universe for a man is not pussy. It's not secondary. It's power. And men who earn feel powerful because it identifies them. Now I am something. And then you enter a performance, and now you're like, okay, my yacht's too small. Mm. My house too. Who's that guy? What's he do? I'm gonna fucking take him out. Meanwhile, the obsession comes inside the head of a mind of a man. And forget. She became a trophy to me. Literally wasn't intentional. But we became so disconnected. She was a beautiful trophy. My kids were trophies, Evidence of my success. Houses, trophies, cars, trophies. But never feeling connected, knowing in the beginning all she was after was, who? Me.
I met you with hubcaps, remember?
I didn't have shit. People, like, people look at us now because, like, she keeps looking younger somehow, and I keep looking older, particularly when I grow the beard out. So to think we're like 20 years apart. People are like, oh, you guys are an age gap couple. I was like, what do you mean? Hey, we're like 20 years apart. How are you guys, like 15, 20 years. I'm like, jesus, got to shave this beard. No, it's only when the beard gets a little scruffy. When he gets big and gray, I look like I'm 60. And then people think, this is my sugar baby I'm rolling around Miami with.
They're always like, is it your second marriage? I'm like, yes, but I met him when I was 18, so.
And definitely been together for a while. What are you hearing me say from this? I'm not trying to turn this into a coaching session. It's just, you're very Unique because most of the people bring on have been married for a while. Like our show last week, people talk about the carnage, being together when their kids and week before, same situation. You guys are like fresh starting fresh. Sophia, what are you hearing me say?
Well, right now, making time for each other. Make sure we don't get lost in the process. Like trying to build something. Don't get let that ambition forget what makes us us.
Yeah, try what you.
I mean, he's gonna say a business thing.
You're saying that I came with a new hook in two angles.
Hey, clip this. I think that, you know, what you're telling me is at the end of the day, whatever happens, however big, however much you scale, at the end of the day, you have the most important part and you can't lose that, you know, and understanding. You know my why, and she knows my why. But at the end of the day, doesn't matter what you buy, what you have access to. The end of the day, the most important part, you already have. And you have to remember that along the journey. But, yeah, I just want her to know, always know that I'm doing it for her, you know, like, that's why I do it.
Well, pause. That's half true and half.
What's the part the is it's for you, too. Yeah, but, like, she knows that. No, no, no, no, no, no.
It's for her, but it's also for you. If it was all for her, you just keep doing NBA. If it was for her.
Yeah, yeah. That standpoint, if it was just for.
Her, you would just keep doing NBA. But you want something different because it's a lie that dudes tell themselves. I told myself this too. And all the guys I lead said this when they were young. I'm working this hard for you and the baby.
I'm working.
I'm only working this hard and bleeding out my eyeballs and ears. For you, babe. It's all for you. It's all bullshit. Because inside, what it is, is giving man his own value. Because in the world of man, if you don't produce, you have no value.
This is the story I used to tell him, like, oh, thanks for, like, playing with the kids and hanging out with the kids. And I'm like, why am I saying thank you? Do it because you want to be with the kids. You know what I mean? But it's like, for men, I think that they do. They're like, I'm doing it for you. And I'm like, don't do it for me then. When we, when he first got into fitness. This is a funny story, but we was two years ago, we're sitting in Miami here, We didn't live here yet. And we had a couple cocktails and he was like, hey. I was like, hey. He wanted me to do a medicine journey. I've never wanted to do it. And I just don't know desire. And he's like, I'm like, why don't you do a fitness competition? Like, why don't you start lifting weights? Because he was surfing at the time. Because he's like, oh, I'm just going to surf. I'm like, I'll do a medicine journey if you do a fitness competition. He's like, really? He's like, yeah. So he signs on this napkin, like, you know, why not? I kept, I didn't keep it. I think he threw it away. But the next morning, he sends me screenshots. He had signed up for a competition in like eight months or something. And I go out to the deck and we're in a hotel. And I was like, okay, I just need you to know I'm not going to ever do a medicine journey. I said, but if you want to do this, do this for you, don't do it for me. I said, if you're doing it for me, cancel that right now. And he looked at me, he's like, I'm going to do it for me. And it transformed him. Like, it completely transform, not only how he looks, but I like how you're saying, like, people don't understand. Like, when you take care of your body, it changes something in the mind. You carry yourself different, you communicate different, you walk into a room different. And that's what I, what I saw in him when he kind of made that transformation. But he had to make the decision to do it for himself. And when he did it, he, like, I was like, so proud of him. I was like, good job. If he would have done it, been doing it for me, I'd have felt so bad. When he was cutting and all the things I've been like, oh, my God, I'm so sorry. Like, but because he was doing it for him, I was like, I don't feel bad. You know, you, you wanted to.
Well, there's a, There's a huge sense of purpose I get in what I build. But I, I forever used her as the excuse. Just like admitting sex didn't matter to me. I was like, ah, sex doesn't matter. Until I admitted sex matter, didn't nothing matter. And it's like, it wasn't happening the way I wanted to. Our relationship wasn't connected that way passionately. So it was like an admittance of, like, it could be both. It could be like, yeah, I'm building for my family, but at time, the same. Same time, like, I get high on the supply of what I do every day. And that has nothing to do with her. That has to do with me. And when you come to terms with that, you're like, okay, I really love doing this. And I'm going to do this because I love it. But I'm also going to do this because it provides this life stuff for my family, and I want to provide that too. But I also don't get confused in this idea that's always about her because it's not. It actually puts weird pressure on the girls. Yeah, that is like, unhealthy because now it's like, well, you're not pursuing your purpose for you. You're pursuing your purpose for me. I'm not your purpose. Pursue your purpose and then I'll be your second purpose. Which is super weird because again, I was all up with this forever in the beginning. I didn't know who was telling me nothing. We don't have anything to watch on the Internet. There's no YouTube. When we started 24 years ago as an entrepreneur, we were like listening to audio CDs, books from like old school, Zig Ziglar and all the oldies, teaching us stuff. Who was like, ancient compared to stuff now. Okay, so, so for you, why, why, why do you stay with this man who's obsessed right now?
Because in the, all the crazy obsession stuff, he's my piece. Like, he brings me peace.
Yeah. So, I mean, you could pull the move and just go get yourself a 55 year old. He could bring you peace too. So why pick Travis in the build?
Because I admire him. Like, I admire him. I find, like, I find his obsession very attractive and is like, what constantly makes me, you know, want to pursue him.
Why you choose her?
She accepts my accession. But no, no, I think the biggest thing is the support is, is unmatched. And I, I just think it's priceless. It's priceless. I can lay my head down every night knowing that I'm not dealing with. A lot of men have to go through in these types of situations like that, that piece of just being able to sleep and not worry and I travel, you know, like those types of things. You can't put a price on that. And I think that, you know, the support is the biggest thing, like she, whatever I say, she will say, okay, let's go do it. And you can't. I really don't think you can put a price on that.
It's a cheerleading.
It is.
Guys, guys, like a good cheerleader.
Guys want support. They want. It's a respect thing too. And interesting enough, there's a lot. I mean, that's why, like this, this entire idea that you can just go buy a body. Guys get in that trap. You always go get a body. Body gets boring. That's why they cycle through it all. And even a business that doesn't have any purpose behind it besides just raking profits, like, at a certain point, it just gets redundant, gets ridiculous. And you're like, what am I doing? Do you guys go on date nights?
I actually started putting in the calendar in big.
She started putting on a calendar.
Travis went to a blank stair, looked out across.
Every time I go get something to drink, I see it Saturday night. But now we. It's on the calendar.
I had to market.
You can have a Saturday.
Yeah, it's there. So, yeah, we, we definitely. We do do it now. And initially, when I first started, it wasn't even a thing, you know, but now it's like, you know, not to say where I'm. Where I want to be, but I've seen a formula that works and I understand it, you know, a little bit about the business. And I can kind of be like, okay, I know I can do this. You know, when you don't know you can do it, I'm like, I don't want to sit there and go to dinner. I don't, you know, I don't want to do that. But now we go anywhere we want to eat, you know, it's a little different. Like, I'm that type of person. Like, I want to be able to do something a certain way, whether it's right or wrong. Like, but I want to be able to do. I want to. If she said, I want to eat here, I want to be able to eat there and not blink an eye and things like that. So once I got to that point within the business, I always want the business to be able to do it. I never look at what I do with the NBA. That's a complete. That's like non existent in my eyes. So we even talk about, like when she talks about car, what's your next car? I'm like, if this business, I don't want the NBA to do it. I want this business to do it. And that's What, How I look at it. Like that could do a lot of stuff, but I want to feel like we did this right and we got X, Y and Z from what we built, not from what I've been doing.
Do you guys like working together?
Yeah.
You do?
Yeah, I enjoy it.
Yeah.
She's like my best friend. So it's, it's.
And it's also like you're in the same field. We've tried to work together, but it's like our brands are so totally opposite. Yeah, it was hard to work together. Yeah, that's good.
Called a hairstylist a cunt. One time from stage, I didn't work.
Yeah, that was it.
I got fired. I was fired from the brand. I got canceled from.
The owner said that to one of the.
I was referencing a situation. She was being my marketing.
It was so funny. We started working together in my marketing. It's like I'm in the beauty space and like, I'm like reading one of my sales pages one day and it's like, this is not your grandma's event. I'm like, what are we attending? It sounded like very like warrior esque, like a boot camp. Oh, it sounded like you were attending a hair boot camp. I was like, okay, you're. We're going to have to change.
And in the spirit of that, we did break every single record and conversation in the hair industry. Because hair industry has predominantly been like the fitness space, which is like 25 Saturday classes.
Yeah, yeah.
Which is like very low ticket, very weird. And like we just, we shattered it. They started doing five thousand dollar ticket events. Like all right, out of the gate, twenty five thousand dollar masks.
Yeah.
It was like unheard of in the hairspace because like these hairstyles.
He was right. It was not his grandma's event.
No, there was no grandma's to be found there. Okay, so you ready for the final question? This is a hard one. You ready? I'm coming at Travis First. What are the three words you would use to describe your love and commitment to Sophia? Tell her those three.
Three, Three, three words. He put me on the spot. Three words to describe it.
When you think, when you look at her and you feel into her, you're like, okay, here are the three words that to me represent her. Her and why you're with her.
That's hard, man. Three first things. Anything I looked at, it was valuable. I think she's extremely valuable to my life. I think she's, she's elevated me as a person. Not even talking about just business as A person to understand how important is. I've never had this. I've never had this, you know, so, like, seeing what, how she's brought up a certain way has elevated me in general. Seeing exactly. Like seeing the family, like, see being able to see somebody's been married for 30 years. Like that a part of it. Her family going cruises non stop, you know, like, they think that's all they do, but it's just. She's brought a value to my life that I never had, you know, And I'm very grateful for that. The second thing is another word off the top of my head without saying support. This is tough, man.
He's never speechless.
No.
Because. No, I'm trying.
Too many.
Yeah, man. It's like a lot. I mean, I don't want. It's like a basic word, you know, but like, this is hard. This is actually hard. People get this on the first day. They knock this out when they've been.
Together like 25 years.
Yeah, this is, this is, this is tough. Yeah. I just don't want to use like words like grateful. I don't want to use words like that.
Okay. What's a word that you feel when you look at her? What's a feeling you have when you look at her?
A word that I feel when I look at her, I feel like. Like it's two words.
Okay.
But she loves unconditionally. Like, she loves unconditionally. Like, and when I say that, it's like she'll take you for what, what you are, what you've been through. Yeah. Think about it. When I met her, she was 24. We started talking. I had an annulment. I was married for two weeks at one point. Like, that's like the. At 24, that could be the biggest red flag of all time. Like one. Your divorce always called them nomenclature, but it was a two week period that you just said you don't want to do this no more. So for somebody to look at you and just say, hey, look, like, even though you made that decision, if you decide to make that decision, I don't think you would do that to me. I think is. It's hard. I know at 24, I couldn't have been able to do that. So I think, like, if I could wrap it up with that, it's like loving unconditionally, regardless of what you've been through. And to completely support and trust somebody is priceless. It's top notch, man.
You did it.
Good job.
You're right.
You come. I was letting him sit in her locker. I was like, he can think about 19 ads right now, but we're gonna get three words out of this, man.
Oh, yeah, I think.
Okay, okay, okay. It's coming back at you. This is like tennis.
Yeah, There you go.
All right, Sophia, three for Travis.
Well, I said it before a piece. I just look at him and I feel peaceful, you know, when. Even when we're in the house and like, I feel, like, frustrated or anxious. I just, like, look at him with my dog and like, that brings me peace, devotion. Like, I feel like he's so devoted to anything he does. Anything you set your mind to. Like, you're just so devoted. Even when sometimes I feel, like, neglected a little bit, I know the purpose behind it is for us. And then admiration.
Wow. Yeah, she got him way fast.
I had them ridden. I have it on my notes app.
She was ready. She was ready.
A little bit confusing because you were like, three words to describe them.
Yeah, no, I was helping them. I went to the field because we got tough with the describe. I just audible. We went to feel.
Yeah, he threw me a bone.
Are you ready? Your turn.
No, you go first.
You want me to go?
Oh, you guys haven't done it.
We haven't done it.
We do it every week, but we can't use the same words every time.
All right, is it three words to describe me or. Cuz I'm a little confused.
Whatever you want the interpretation to be, do that.
Perfect.
Okay, so here's what I'd say. The first one is forgiving. Impatient. It's one word. I put them together. Forgiving, Patient. Forgiving, Patient. Because of just the endurance that you've had over time. 20.
I'm an endurance athlete.
For you are an endurance woman. To endure the ups and downs. See, to this point, that's 1, 2. Just the soul level connection that you have that when you let it out, how deep it moves the room. Myself, the kids, friends, everyone. And third one is vision. The ability to see in a direction at times where even I can't see. And I'm the builder, but at times I get off. And you're the compass that focuses us. All right, your turn, mama.
Let's see. Three new ones, huh?
Yeah.
I would say your ability. I don't know if. How would I say this in a word? You manage pressure well. What's. Is that like. Is that a word? Capacity. There we go. I would say your willingness to be the warlord. Is that your warlord? That's a good one. And then I would say your Third would be compassion towards, like, humanity in general. Like, you. You. You give so much at your own sacrifice. Sometimes, like, you're just like, such a giver. Like, you would literally, like, you'd give your shirt off your back. Like, that's like, you're just very giving, and it comes very natural for you.
That's what we say.
Yeah, we always say that about Gary to him.
But I do say that about Gary. I actually said it to him before. You guys said, I've never met somebody at the level you're at to just give people. And, like, when you don't have to, like, he doesn't. He doesn't owe anybody anything. And I. I really admire that. It's just like, he just wants to see people succeed. And it's like he doesn't feel like anybody's gonna take anything away from him. You know, a lot of times it's like, that's the. That's the mindset of most men. It's like, if I help somebody, this could. If I help enough people, that's gonna hurt me. And I feel like he doesn't have that in his bone. Like, he lives in abundance, and what will come my way will come my way.
So I love it. Well, I've seen from the first time I saw you two, here's the deal. I have. I have many, many talents and gifts, one of which is I see people who are called to lead movements. This is what I know. This is why you're here. This is why I've been in a slow soul level seduction of both of you. Because there's what you're called to do. You have the oracle and you have the warlord. This combination exists in movement makers, 100% of them. Sometimes in building those movements, one falters. Warlord loses his mind, spirals into chaos. Or warlord turns on the oracle and blasts her like he's. Because he's so much war. And she leaves. And then there's couples that can figure it out, and the ones that can figure it out punt the game. So just like Carter and Alyssa, Danielle and I know when God sent people into our world on purpose, so having you here on a show was a treat for us. But it's also just the beginning because there are things that you are naturally, intuitively plugged into. As much as I harass you about taking your shirt off, that's just fucking with you. The rest of this. And like Sophia, seeing the discipline and the commitment you have, but also getting to see and to watch a. A real and unfiltered love that you two have for each other. That's why I say this is the single greatest gift that you can offer the world is what you two have already found in each other. You're able to love each other, build with each other, care for each other, support each other. And in a world of people producing and building, in the end, you're absolutely right. They want what you are, only they can't buy it. They could buy 50 different Latina women downtown they're not going to get. So you and that girls can go try to hunt down athletes and they're not going to get what you two have found. And it's what we found and it's what becomes magnetic about you too. That's why the magnetism in the way you're speaking and sharing with the world has to continue. Just remember what they're actually after. When Danielle and I walk into rooms with people, we go to events. It's our soul connection, energy that turns out the room and we around we were just an event last week. Billionaires, hundreds of millions of dollars in these guys lives and with exception of one or two, none have what we have. And so there's a power that you have. And this is what like even the show, this is the thing we're trying to get people to understand that there's a thing I did not see that I pursued and missed the mark like exits on the freeway right here. And I was so, so pumped to go. 180 I just went ended off in the middle of some swampland here in Florida. The crocodiles are in alligators around my wheels, My tires buried in mud going the just happened. And I realized Danielle's way back there with the kids sending me text messages. Where did you go? I don't know. I just want to go that way fast because it seemed too easy to just get off the freeway. So I'm proud of you guys, appreciate you as like a brother, as a friend, as a bonded gym partner. And you joined team all blacks.
Yeah, all black.
At the gym, they're all blacks. We're slowly converting elevation fitness on like.
Certain days or every day?
Every day. Every day, every day. So if he used to be like every color in the rainbow, she would come in every single day slowly.
We're comb you're like, you're like, you can't sit with us if you don't wear all black or white.
Exactly.
He's like, it's energy. And he's right.
It shifted. They even train harder.
They look good.
We did it. For one day, and then we're like.
Part of the construction company now.
We brought you on the afternoon crew. We're the second swing shift on the. We're packing forms in and out, holding the orange shine. All right, well, listen, how would. We're going to obviously put everything in the show notes. Where would you like people who want to follow both you on social media, connect with you? Where. Where would you like them to go?
Instagram. The Travis Wallace is the best place to contact me.
Perfect. Sophia.
Sophia Perez. 98.
Sophia Perez N. Does 98 mean anything or is that a random gift?
It's my year, my birth year.
Okay. Nine, eight.
You know, it's like. Yeah, when you do your, like, little Instagram, where you're like, little.
I love it.
I feel like I haven't changed it.
I feel like you need to upgrade your Instagram name now.
That's my one takeaway.
That's your one takeaway?
That's wild. You were born two years after. No, four years after I graduated from high school. Hey, let's go. All right, listen, you got all the show notes. The hipster here. This. This. This show was specifically done, like, I invited them here on purpose because there are so many younger couples in their 20s and early 30s that are trying to figure this game out. And I watched the fucking chaos, particularly here in Miami, of watching the fallout from people who are so lost trying to find the same thing, which is the soul connection. You're here. Follow them up on social media. Connect with them. They're up to big things. We're super excited to have them in our world and have them here on the show. Also. Remember that the best way that you can support us here. Don't send my money, but if you want to, that's fine. What I'm telling you, though, is share the show. You have no idea. There are young couples you know and individuals who are now recently single or went through rough breakups, et cetera, that need to hear from couples like Travis and Sophia, individuals who have found a path to each other, because if you don't share it, they don't hear it. And we have stories every single week, people we see all around the world, which blows our mind. We'll be at airports and different restaurants, and people come up to us who have heard about the show and listen to date your wife. So do us a favor, share it up like it send to somebody you know or use it as a sly under the radar. Date night. Listen in your car if you have some spice. We're talking about. It'll give you permission to talk about some spicy because they'll look at us as the crazy people and you get a slide in that conversation. Top is also wake up. Warrior supports this entire game. We pick up a free copy of warrior book@warriorbook.com Thousands of those going out every single week. We'd love to support the men in your world. Your man. Or if you're a man listening to us, we'd love to give you the tools here at Warrior we've used to build a habitable lifestyle and found freedom for ourselves. So, babe, you want to close the show?
All right. I get you. I mean, that was good close. But, you know, thanks for listening. Share the show. We'll see you next week.
Oh, no, we can't end it like that. You know how we end it, girl, you forgot what we do.
What?
And that's another episode of the day you write podcast.
