Stop Hiding Behind God: Marriage, Truth, and the Wake-Up Call Most Couples Avoid
2 Jun 2025 · 33 min
This is a conversational podcast episode (hosts Garrett J. White and Danielle White) about marriage, truth, faith, and their work with Wake Up Warrior. They describe long-term marriage maintenance (treating marriage like dating), personal struggles (nearly divorced multiple times), the role of scripture and religious communities (critique of hiding behind scripture and taking counsel from those without fruit), and practical decisions (moving to Miami) that shaped their work and impact. The episode includes an anecdote about a client who criticized Wake Up Warrior using scripture, reflections on personal faith practice (daily Bible study), and a closing CTA pointing listeners to warriorbook.com and to share the show.

People talk about the divorce rate, but they don't talk about the, I fucking hate my life. I'm still married.
If you want a great relationship, you essentially have to teach or treat your marriage like you're constantly dating.
It drives me fucking nuts when people hide behind scripture and God because you.
Said a scripture, it's automatically true to me. I'm like, you're abusing the word of God.
By their fruit. You will know them, not by the number of scripture quoting you give me. We are spending too much time as couples listening to people's counsel and advice. Guys who do not have lives that we want.
There's no even inkling for me to want to debate. He doesn't have the lifestyle or the results that I'm looking for.
This is what I'm following. I don't fucking care. Stop talking to me. I'm going. Most people believe and very few people know.
Right? Hello, and welcome to another episode of the date your Wife podcast. I'm here with my partner in crime, my co host, my husband of 22 years.
22 years.
Is it 23 this year?
I think it's 23 this year.
I think it's 23 this year, man. Like, 20 was big. And then I kind of lost count a little bit. But you're gonna be the big 49 next month. And we. I've literally been with you more than half of my life.
It's the best part of your life.
It's the only part I know. But you know what? We started this podcast, like, probably, like, seven years ago.
2018.
2018. So, yeah, so seven years ago. Seven years ago. Garrett and I, we have five kids, two dogs. We built multiple companies. We've been nearly divorced at least a dozen times. We've. We've gone through the gamut, but I feel like we're in a good space.
You know, we have been like, find one, like, 12 times.
We have. Yeah.
Because we've been spiritually divorced.
I feel like every year you have to, like. I say this all the time. Like, you have to be willing to rebirth your marriage and relationship, like, every single year. People. People don't understand. Like, they're like, I don't have any chemistry anymore. I'm like, well, when you're dating, you're always actively working on your relationship. For some reason. People get married and then they focus on business or other things, or they don't think that they have to put any time and attention into their marriage. And then they're confused when there's disconnection, resentment, Kind of things fall apart. It's like, if you want a great relationship, you essentially have to teach or treat your marriage like you're constantly dating. Otherwise you're gonna get too comfortable. And then comfortable leads to being stagnant. And it actually leads in digression.
Depressed, miserable people.
What?
It leads to depressed, miserable people. People talk about the divorce rate, but they don't talk about that. I hate my life. I'm still married.
Wait. Yeah. That's the thing is some people, especially in different cultures and religions, it's like they just are like, well, this is my person, and this is how I have to be. And I'm like, well, if you're going to choose to be in that relationship, why don't you make it? Why do you make it better? That's where I had gotten when we were, like, in a space where we. We were thinking about divorce, we were on the fence. And then it was like, okay, well, if I'm choosing to be in this relationship, I want a connected relationship. I want to be attracted to my husband. I want it to be a good relationship. I don't want to just stick it out because it's like, well, this is where we are. But that's also too, like, how our parents generation was taught. And then, like I said, I believe that culture and religion is like, you could be miserable, but you can't divorce.
I had a moment walking in the backyard today when I was setting up for the party and I was cleaning stuff up. And I thought, if I was divorced from Danielle, I would be very sad.
Oh, that's good. You like me.
I fucking love the shit out of you. Like, I would be sad. And I don't think I could have said that years ago. Like, we were in such chaos. It was like my mind was constantly with one foot out the door emotionally and one foot in which yours was too. And we were both kind of in this waiting for the other person to up and, like, it was like, not. It was not a healthy place to be. But there wasn't anybody in my world to guide us, like, really guide us. That's why a lot of stuff we do at Wake Up Warrior is so empowering for so many guys because it gives them a roadmap of all the shit I did wrong and all the shit you did wrong and all the stuff we tried to do that didn't work. Trying to show people a faster path to get there, which is a foundation of truth. I'll give you an example. And we're going to get to the Topic for today. So we get a call that comes into one of our team at Warrior. Fit from a woman. I'm not going to use any names. She calls in and she says to Alyssa on our team, warns her about the scarring that Wake up Warrior had done to her marriage, and warned her about me and about Warrior and that she needs to be very cautious. And then she quoted a bunch of scriptures. So then they call me and they're like, what the fuck is this about? And I would go, bro, this is how it goes. Now rewind this relationship. Three years ago, sexless relationship, manipulative, controlling woman. A man who was suppressed and sedated. Businesses were doing okay, but not doing great. He was miserable in his marriage.
At least that was from what you.
That was his perspective. And this was a client of mine. Direct client of mine.
That's what you knew of his relationship.
And that's what. That's what I knew. That's what I knew. Okay. So he got himself in shape, weaponized his spirituality, rose in power, redefined the business, rebuilt the business and put his marriage online. Separated for a period of time, came back together. She reactivated. Then two and a half years later, decides it's on her commission to come back and tell us how damaging Warrior was. And I sent him a message.
I said, bro, sounds like he was already damaged before he got in Warrior.
Well, it wasn't just that. I was like, bro, everything about your life right now is because of the pivot you made to come to Warrior and put yourself back in power. That six pack that you have now, the business that you have thriving, all the things you're doing because you came here and woke the fuck up. I was like, it blows my mind how quickly people forget where they were. But this has been a thing.
I think it helps people take credit instead of, like, giving credit to, like, Warrior. It's like, I did this. And you're like, yeah, you did do it, but you had help along the way.
Well, and there's also. This is where the piece comes in. So he sent me a message back with, like, five scripture references. And this was the topic of where I'm at. It drives me fucking nuts when people hide behind scripture and God.
It drives me nuts when I'm like, okay, I love that because you said a scripture. It's automatically true to me. I'm like, you're abusing the word of God. You're literally abusing it because it justifies your actions and where you at and doesn't let you take radical accountability for where you could be, but because you said a scripture or you said God told me, then that's a write off.
Do you know the biggest betrayals we've had in Warrior from core team members and DKW and NBR over the years are from people who professed most of the time? God told me this, God told me that, God told me this. And then they use the same psychology to steal from us, take money, take clients, talk shit, file lawsuits.
And you're like, God doesn't tell people to do that.
And maybe God does, maybe God doesn't. But what I'm saying is that there's this weird game that goes on in Christianity that does two things that are super weird to me. I watch people hide behind God and I watch people also from that same place feel it's their personal duty in life to police other Christians.
Yeah, right. What is that?
It's fucking weird to me.
You know what's weird too is like, you'll have somebody who's like the preacher and the scripture quoter. And then you're like, but you're not talking about your addictions and your five affairs you've had and all. But because you know scriptures really well, then that justifies your affairs and your patterns and your addictions. But you, you memorize those scriptures because we shouldn't really, we can't judge you, right? We can't judge you. But if you actually shared the truth of your past, like, it would expose you and you, you're scared of being exposed. I'm not saying everybody, but usually the ones that are quoting a scripture, I'm always like, what are you hiding from?
That's all the people that post scriptures inside every comment on everything.
It drives me bonkers.
I don't know what I think.
It's self righteous, holier than thou. And I'm like, where are you at in your relationship with your family, your kids, your success? If you can't come to me with, with success in business, but like success in all areas of your life and you want to give me a scripture, Take that scripture and shove it up your ass. Like, I'm sorry. Like, I literally, like, it drives me crap because I'll like go look at the profiles. And I was like, really? Really? Okay, that makes sense.
It's always Bobby Bud Light from like.
But that's the thing. I'm like, if you look at your reality of where you're at in life, and I'm like, you can create so much more and you're literally hiding behind this because you're like, hey, it justifies this weird stuff safe card of like, well, you know, I. I believe in God, so I don't have. I'm not required to do the work.
So I would. I'll tell people. I'm like, listen, I was talking to a group of pastors, and one of the pastors was quoting some scripture to me. And I'm cool with people quoting scripture. I like scripture. And then he keeps quoting it. He keeps quoting. He's trying to justify this thing that he's trying to course correct me. And I don't know why all of a sudden I come out open as a Christian. And now the last, like two and a half years, I have all these people feel like God has called them to try to course correct me, to help you. And I'm like, I hear you. But there's two different energies. There's people I'm close to who have fruit in their lives. And these are people, when they share with me, I'm open, I listen. And then there's people who are judgmental and trying to force their way of the world on me. So I'm talking to these pastors and I understand the intention where they're coming from. So he shares with me these scriptures, like three or four in a row. And I said, cool, I totally hear you, bro. I said, can I ask you a question? He said, yeah, why are you fat? Like, look at you. You're 50, 60 pounds overweight. God gave you dominion over a body. You can't even discipline that body. Why should I listen to anything you're telling me? You can quote me scriptures all day long, but your fruit says I'm a fat guy. Do you not have a discipline over the temple and the body of worship that God has given you? But somehow you justify eating like shit and looking like this? How can I take you serious? By their fruit you will know them, not by the number of scripture quoting you give me. So I'm looking at you right now. I'm trying to listen to you. But the whole time I'm asking myself, how can a man who supposedly is in so much power with God be so fat? And you're in leading a congregation, telling people with your body all day long, it is okay to defile the temple of God by consuming too much and carrying a keg over your.
Well, here's the thing, though. Like, that's a very. You can look at something, you're like, oh, you're 50, 100 pounds overweight, but then think about the person that's like, fit. But maybe they're having affairs or they have, like, all these addictions or all these things, right? It's like, at some level, you have to not just look at the fruit of your body, but look at the fruit of every area of your life.
And this is why, like, people look at me. We make it easy for people to judge us. We put our whole life on display. So there's always people who want to have an opinion about our lives, who are on private profiles, who share nothing with the world, take no risks, expose nothing. I said, listen, motherfucker, I follow you around with cameras and we document and put your whole family on camera, and we interview everyone, and then we get to follow your life on social media. Guess what? You're going to find out. Either you're legit or you're not, right? People come into our world all the time. Like, bro, these guys are exactly the same off camera as they are on camera. I said, yeah, yeah. What you see is what you get. I'm going to talk to you. I'm going to talk to my wife like this in front of you, whether you're on camera. We're at dinner.
But there's a lot of, like, in. Most people are scared to kind of, like, be this truthful. And in my experience, in the beginning, like, when we started podcasting and we. When we would share, like, oh, don't share. Don't share too much. Don't share. Don't share everything. And now I'm kind of at this place where I'm like, hey, if it helps other people, if it gives them permission to have these conversations, it's also been very, like, freeing you, like, you're like, oh, I'm not, like, hiding anything. We talk about the good, the bad, the ugly. We've talked about when we're in a good space. We've also talked about some dark stuff when. When we weren't in good places.
Well, and we. That comes up live on the show. Over the last year and a half, we've had shows. We're fighting over topics right on the show. We're having debates and arguments right here. And that's, like, the refreshing piece. And it's like, I'm not against people in scripture. I run a weekly Bible study called where's for Christ? Like, I'm all about it. I'm in the Word every single. For an hour, an hour and a half, every single morning, Bible sagging. I meditate, prayer. I worship God. I go down the path. I believe in Christ. I know Christ is who he said he is. And I know God speaks through all men. I know God speaks to man. Today, where I have a challenge is with people who are scripturally smart and in this world are slaves. Like, they play from this place of freedom, and yet they can't be free. I say the word fuck, and all of a sudden, somebody who has been a Devout Christian for 35 years can't even keep their boun. They're like, you just said fuck. I can't even. Listen, bro, if God's calling you to go walk in the darkness, to go liberate man and make disciples of all men, when did you think that was gonna happen? On church. At Sunday at Vu Church in Miami, where everybody's fucking happy clapping. Although he's a great pastor, so I'm not gonna go there. He's great. Like, he rips into people. But I'm saying, like, there's this idea that somehow I can hide behind the word and not be responsible for my results in life. Right. I cannot be responsible. It's like I walk around with a car.
Justifies.
It completely justifies.
It's like, well, I'm spiritual, so, you know, you can have all the excuses for your body and this and that, and you're like, but I prioritize, you know, the. The Lord and the scriptures. So therefore, I don't have time. And what people don't realize is, it's like, it's. You can create whatever you want. Like, you get up at like, 2:30 in the morning.
Yep.
Like, when people are like, oh, I don't have time for that, I'm like, really? Then create time. Choose to create time to prioritize what. What makes sense for you.
Fruit is the plumb line of life. So I've had to start this debate over and over with people like, okay, listen, scriptures are my truth. I'm like, that's cool. You know what my truth is? And like, what? I said, fruit, we're to study scripture in order to find wisdom. And that wisdom has to lead to work, and that work will lead to wealth. And people, minute they hear that, they're like, oh, now he's teaching prosperity theology. I'm like, okay, prosperity is the purpose of this life. It is the perpetual, eternal pursuit of creating and revealing more of oneself. We do this in marriage. Marriage is. Marriage is hard. Marriage is also a complete pleasure. It's pain. You and I were looking at each other yesterday. We got two toddlers. We're walking in the mountain. They're riding their bikes, and both of Us had this thought, man. What if you just pulled out twice and you didn't come in me and.
We didn't have these two toddlers when the things are get crazy and like, chaotic and we're both about to lose our minds instead of, like, feed into the. The chaotic ness of the kids. I always look at you and I'm like, you did this. Because I know we're both at like, snapping point, but I'm like, we can't.
That was yesterday. You look at me and you're like.
I just smile and I kiss you and I'm like, you did this.
No, you say, you did this to me and I said you accepted this.
But that's.
Your body. Could have rejected it. I love our little kids.
No, that's the thing.
But it's just. It's just. It's this up and down game of reality. That's why I can't handle couples that run couples podcasts. There's a couple big ones and I listen to them like, oh, my God, I just want to shoot myself.
Well, they give good value. I know there's a few that they give good value, but I like, am like, what are you. What is it like, you know, the.
Ones I have a hard time with, though, but there's a huge market for. It is like the couples where the chick's more man than the dude and they're coaching couples.
Well, that's happened sometimes in relationships.
That happens a lot. And I'm saying there's a market for that. It's just not my market. It's like, it's a hard market for me because I'm like, the dudes don't operate at all. Like, the dudes I run with, there's.
There's some relationships they tolerate.
My dudes would never.
Relationships where the woman is a little bit more alpha.
There's a lot of relationships like that because there's a lot of alpha women.
Right.
And like, an alpha woman doesn't match with the alpha man unless these two have come to submission.
Like, we, like, we've inter. Had a lot of people on our podcast too. Like even like Stormy when he had her on, she's like, I had to consciously go into my feminine.
Yeah.
He's like, I didn't want to show up that way with my new man. She's like, I chose to show up differently.
Yeah.
Right. So I think that even if. Because I am a lot, a lot of ways can be very. For sure it can be. But in the end, I don't want to Always wear those pants.
Yeah.
I don't always want to be the alpha in my relationship, although I can be, and it can be great with kids and business and all these other things. It's very attractive to not feel like I have to be in that space all the time. And I want you to be the alpha. So it's like I would say women in the business world, I see this all the time. I'm like, you need to. This is not. This is not you being less powerful. This is actually you being more powerful because you understand the power of being feminine.
Yep. So back to this whole scripture hiding thing. I think people get scared and, like, the most terrible.
It's easier to lean into that.
It's easier to lean into what your pastor told you than it is to lean into what God is telling you. And people are like, well, God does speak through the Word. He does. God does speak through the Word. And God speaks personal revelation. Every marriage, every individual, because every marriage and every individual is completely different. And the principles that work for one couple can work for another couple. But the map and how God maps that and the journey that. That maps of that couple, you don't know. It's like I was sitting at one of our man arena tour event day one at the Mastermind, the night before our VIP mastermind. And there was a Muslim young man there, and I was processing in front of the group and he was saying, I feel like I need to be closer to God. I'm like, cool, what would that look like? Because everything has to be measurable. I'm like, well, that look like, well, I would, I would just. I would. I would pray more and I would say, okay, well what would that look like? And he said, well, in the Muslim faith, they memorize the Quran. And I was like, okay, well, how much have you memorized? And then I had him stand up for everybody. And I said, cool, so what is your commitment then? And we went down this path of practical execution. He had word into wisdom, into work, into wealth, which frame we use in Bible stacking. I say, okay, well what would that look like? And he's like, well, every morning for 45 minutes, I would study the Quran and I would memorize this amount every single day. I'm like, awesome. Okay, cool. So when are you gonna start that? He's like, I'm start that tomorrow. I was like, okay, well, the event's tomorrow. Are you gonna do it tomorrow? He's like, okay, I'll start the day after. I was like, okay, so we're gonna Start the day after we got done though, when a bunch of Christian guys were in there and they were like, man, I just don't know how. I just don't know if I'm there, man. I don't know if I could do that. And I was like, do what? They're like, I don't know, man. I said, I'll tell you what it is. The problem is you are operating not like Christ, you're operating like a Christian. Christ talked to everyone. Christ met people where they were. That's why the people he called as part of his original ministry were not people of the church. They were not people of religion. They were men of the streets. They were savages. The entire Old Testament is filled with all the apostles were savages. Saul was a killer of Christians who became a Christ follower. Like these men were men. They weren't like dudes who knew scripture. They were with the living scripture of Christ. So when people come with the intention of Christ's energy, they can give feedback and you feel that the desire is empowering. But when they come from the other side, as tiny Christians, they come with this passive aggressive, self righteous, twisted bullshit kind of thing because they are uncertain in their own knowing. It's terrifying to them to see someone who can continue to create and win with God's power, but it defies 80% of the rules that they live their life by.
I think that that's a key thing to take away is like, you can tell when it's somebody's natural knowing. I'm a firm believer. Like, everybody has their, their own path and which is designed for them. That gets them to the best version of them. And so it's, you can talk with somebody. You're like, wow, it could be like, even, you know, our friend Grant Elena, they're talking about Scientology. And I was like, wow, I don't know about that. But her conviction for it was like, this is truth for you. And I know it's truth for you versus like you can talk to somebody else who are like the scripture thing or whatever. And you're like, why does it feel.
Kind of dark plastic and hollow?
Like, yeah, that you can definitely feel. So I'm not saying that you can't have different beliefs, but you have to have your own knowing.
Yeah. And most people don't spend enough time in relationship with God. They don't spend enough time in the Word. They don't spend enough time in prayer, in meditation. They don't spend enough self reflection and dealing with themselves in the box of mirrors. With God. So the only thing they have is regurgitation of what their pastor said, Some Instagram reel they said, and now the updated ChatGPT that lets you find all the scriptures really fast that you can hurry and copy and paste on people's profiles. 90% of the time I'm like, if you were actually trying to minister to.
Me, you wouldn't come across like this.
Is a horrible strategy. Like you're not even trying to meet me where I am. And I've had this happen with people who are close to me that became Christians. And then they come, they're sending me messages about my statues in my office. These are idol worship. I command you in the name of Jesus to be done with these idols. And they're sending me scriptures like, bro, have you even tried to call me?
Yeah, yeah.
Do you even know where I'm at in life? You haven't talked to me in four fucking years. I gotta let me reach in my pocket for you. I got something off. That's what I got for you. I got a big you. Like you don't even try to know me. You're coming at me from your own inadequacies, your own insecurities, projecting through a twisted frame of Christianity on me and all you're going to get is a big fuck off from me.
I also think too sometimes people like the more success you have. They're like, oh, it's because he's worshiping those statues, Let me save him. Because it calls out their inadequacies where they didn't. They may were at the same level of you, but you surpass them and they're uncomfortable with that. So like it's the statues or they.
Have a hard time. They have a hard time. The two topics that Christians struggle with the most, money and sex. So anytime you get around those topics, it triggers and brings up so much. Because if it was just as easy as going to church on Sunday and reading the scriptures every day, that you would have great sex and marriage and you would have a great money game going on. There are skills in this world that you have to master and there are pieces of you you have to deny and die to and pick up your cross and choose to act, elevate and sanctify yourself. Sanctification is a process of evolving you as a man or as a woman to become more like Christ. And you don't do that by some perfect path. There's a path of it up, figuring it out. It up, figure it out, figure it out.
Sometimes you have to almost like, you, like, mess up to see something bigger. You're like, oh, okay. Think about it in business, same thing. You're like, wow, I would have never had seen that had I not messed.
This up for sure. That's why, like, nowadays, like, I don't get as triggered by it as I used to. I used to get real triggered by about two years ago. Now it's more of just like a okay.
Mm.
And I get okay.
Yeah.
And they're looking for a response. There's no response. You're very passionate about what you're saying. I don't agree with any of it. You're saying, but it's okay.
But then at the same time, you're, like, not reactive to. You're just like. You're entitled to whatever you want to say right now. It doesn't mean I have to take it as my truth.
And that is where it gets interesting. Because people think just cause your truth is your truth does not mean it's my truth.
Right?
And then because you don't accept their truth as your truth, they get angry and upset. And you're like, this is how it is. And then the shit talking starts behind me and took. Behind you and behind us. And all these people start. But the crazy part is if you don't focus on what they're saying because they don't have a life that you want.
Right, Right. Exactly.
Like, that is the challenge is that we are spending too much time as couples listening to people's counsel and advice who do not have lives that we want. They don't have the fruit that we want, they don't have the life that we want. And yet we continue to take counsel from. Is why I can't listen to 85% of pastors.
Like, it's like, why even bother fighting with that person? Like, there's no debate. Like, I feel like it's like, it's not like I'm taking counsel. You almost feel like you want to debate these. These people. And then you're like, why am I debating them? This guy, I look at his profile and he's got a Coors light in the back of his pickup. And who knows where the. I'm like, why? There's no even inkling for me to want to debate. He doesn't have the lifestyle or the results that I'm looking for.
By their fruit, you will know them. Real simple statement. Jesus wasn't messing it up. I found it also interesting. The last days this was prophesied, this would happen too. Two things. Number one, that all the hidden, secret things would be known which is happening. And the second piece, this would be lots of people talking about Jesus. And very few people understand the power of Christ. They don't even have God in them. The doors to the kingdom in them have been shut down, put into a box of rules, and they've contained God in this small little box. And then they wonder why life's not transforming. They wonder why the marriage is still a struggle. They wonder why they continue to experience the things they experience and nothing shifts and changes for them at all. Money doesn't change, marriage doesn't change, life doesn't change. But they stay hell bent committed to what is quote unquote the truth for them, even though the truth that they have obtained gives them a life that does not work right.
It's interesting because you and I were both raised Mormon, and for me, it never really stuck. It was like the patterns and the routines. Like we're, you know, I like a good routine, getting up, going to church and things like that. But I never really had felt like I had connection with God until I was like, this religion is not for me. And I was kind of open to more. And that's when I started to feel like I had like, more of a relationship with God. Because before it was like I just couldn't. I just couldn't feel it, right? So although I'm not saying maybe like some people are Mormon and they can. For me, I was like, this is not my path. This doesn't work for me. And now had. I have never listened to that. If I'd been like, nope, this is my culture, this is how I was raised, and never question it, then I don't, I, like you said, I don't think believe that I would have been able to truly tap into the power of God. And I think that's like, it's like such a cool thing. Like I always say all the time, I'm like, I love being in a place where I can just tap in. And I'm like, God, what do you want me to say in this moment? Who, who needs to hear this right now? And I don't have my own agenda. I'm like, I'm a vessel here for you, and I understand the assignment and I will do my part to show you that I'm diligent and disciplined and I will work hard in this life to do that. But if I would have just stuck to like, hey, this is my culture and community, I think I would have just ended up sedating and been like, this is, I guess, life, which is.
What most people do. I mean, we went through. Had I not left Mormonism, I would have never built Wake Up Warrior. Had I never built Wake Up Warrior, you and I would either be sedated as a couple and just surviving, enduring to the.
I've probably been a baker and been real fat.
Who knows what it would have been? Possibly. And then the flip side of this is that literally hundreds of thousands of marriages would have never been impacted by the wake of the work that you and I have done as a couple. What we even do here at the statewide podcast, we don't get paid to do this. This is like an indirect offering to the world. It's like. But for us, it's great, and it's helped thousands of other couples. And none of that happens with those decisions. But there's so many decisions where God's asking us to break out of our current prison we've created for God. God didn't create the prison for us. We created the prison around ourselves. And God and said, this is as big as I'm able to contain. When truly there's this whole other warehouse of understanding of God that is so much bigger that if you give yourself permission to just let go. Which is exactly what God was asking Abraham to do. Abraham wanted the blessing, and he said, cool. First thing you're do, leave your country. You're going to leave the world that you know, and you're going to leave. When we moved to Miami, it was a God moment. God said, go, Danielle got the message. It got confirmed in me. We packed up and sold all of our shit. Green lights, boom. Moved our whole family, our companies, everything to Miami in six months. And in six months, we're established here now, and the opportunities have opened here have been just straight green lights, green lights, green lights, green lights. We don't make that decision.
Right.
Thousands of people's lives are impacted by the decision that we made.
I think it's scary for people to make that big of a decision, but I'm like, look at the cost of not making that decision. And when I get there, I'm like, okay, like, the house and the cars and the success that's going to come, but I have to choose to, like, move on that prompt. I also think, too, the more you don't listen to it, like, I actually kind of felt called to Miami a couple years ago, but I didn't create it as, like, an opportunity for. I was like, oh, it's like, it's a thought in the future. I was like, oh, maybe in 10 years, we'll buy a second home there. I didn't realize that was like, almost like a nudge, like, hey, you need to go. Yeah, you need to go. And it actually took me about getting in a space where I was like, what is missing? Why am I here? Why do, like, even though we have this massive dream home in the cars, I'm like, why. Why do I feel kind of hollow? And it was. I had to get to this place where I'm like, what am I not seeing? And I also had to get a place of, like, if I. If I asked you to let go of it all, would you and I. That's the same thing that happened to me in three Ocean front, where I'm sitting there in the. In their hot tub. I've shared this story so many times, and God says to me, if I asked like, that at that point, that was our dream home, Dream home. And he said, if I asked you to go, would you do it again? And I didn't even hesitate. Hesitate. I said, yes. And so I think that again, going back to, like, when you can risk it all and you have faith, that's when you start to see more opportunities. But if you don't risk it, I always, like I said, like, what is the cost of not?
And that's why, like, you also.
You know what I love? I, Andy and Jacqueline talk about this a lot is breaking bloodlines, right? You think of that as, like, being, like, super dark, but it's like breaking bloodlines could just be like, what you and I did, right? And imagine if we don't do that or if you don't step outside of your box, you, you know, you're thinking like, oh, you're thinking small, like, oh, this is just my family. You're not thinking of literally, like, bloodlines, like thousands upon thousands of people. Because you. What. What you chose to do, you chose to do something different. You chose to step outside of that box. You decided to create different. Something different for your life. It's not just for you and your family and your kids. You're literally breaking bloodlines. You have no idea the power and the impact this can make.
Well, look at even the life of our children. I mean, our children will never know a life that we knew growing up. They know a totally different life. And it was our path and it's our kids path to be able to live that life. And they would have been suffocated and contained in a box had we stayed. So it was like, we don't See the moves that God's making in our lives until we look back. All crooked paths have a straight line when you look back. But in the moment, the fear to go is there for everybody. But only thing that eclipses the fear to go is the knowingness in yourself that I am being asked by God to do this. And then it doesn't matter when anybody quotes you in scripture. It doesn't matter what anybody tells you. It doesn't matter what anybody's counsel is. This is what I'm following. I don't fucking care. Stop talking to me. I'm going. And when you get a place, you realize that most people believe and very few people know. And knowers are never subservient to believers. And believers are the ones that get stuck in the most amount of chaos because they're stuck in this inability to actually have direct communion conversation with God. So they're constantly looking for validation and feedback from their pastors, from people around them, people in the church. And the challenge is the people that you're around right now, they act as part of your self created prison. This is why jumping from group to group, city to city, moving physical locations, shifts the capacity for you to see yourself and to hear God differently. Which is why God always moves his people. He moved the Hebrews out of Egypt into the desert, then to the promised land. There's always been a physical movement of getting people out of their environment so they can see something. And that's what God had to do with Abraham too. And that's what he's doing with us. And for all of my scripture quoters, I love that you quote scripture. The thing I'm more interested in is what do you know? It's one thing for you to regurgitate some words on a paper. It's a whole other thing for you to bear witness to what the truth in your life and the fruit that it's produced. And when it's ethereal and it's not measurable, it's very difficult for people to listen to you. And there's a rising revival, particularly here in Miami, that's incredibly powerful. And it's a whole group of people who love God or following Christ and who do not subscribe to the church box. And it's happening everywhere. Happen in entrepreneurism, it's happening in politics, it's happening all over the place. Different people who know God is calling and they're answering the call. So for you, as you listen to the show, I want you to consider that being here, listening to this date web Podcast. The reason why you're intrigued and many times triggered and why there's a confusion at times for you isn't because of us. We're clear. We know where we're going. It's because there's a piece in you that knows you need to go. Also. Not our way. Your way. Right. And you're not making the decision. Our decision to move to Miami sparked 30, 40, 50 different couples to move themselves to other states, other cities to make changes. Because they saw us doing it. They're like, dude, if these guys can do it at the pinnacle they're at.
They also, like, made people be like, what are they doing? Are they running away? What are they doing? And I'm like, you have no idea.
Bullshit stories from broke people.
I was like, that's. That's what happens when you challenge people of, like, leaving. You're like, wait, what's not good about here? Like, literally, like, challenges their box. They're in.
Oh, completely. These guys are running from running because of taxes. They running because of a lawsuit. They're running because of that. None of that's why we went.
The funny thing is, is we decided to put our house up for sale before, like, a lot of drama went down.
Yep. And it's okay because the drama mamas, particularly the hair industry, who like to sit around and mentally masturbate each other with lies and bullshit. It's okay. How's it working for you? Keep working your six days and being broke and hating your life. It's okay. At least you got some purpose. You can talk about me. Hmm. I like that I own a piece of your mind. It's great because I don't think about you at all. Except for right now. We're on the show. And after the show's over, I won't fucking think about you again. Goodbye. Oh, so sad. But the rest of you, who totally get what I'm talking about, well, just keep going. You're always gonna have people talking shit. And some of the funniest people who talk shit are Christians. So love them for what they are, which is lost, and let them go. And then, as Christ said, let the dead bury their dead.
I think it's too. It's so important to, like, just stay on path for you. And again, like, don't take advice from people that don't have the life that you want, that don't have the same values like you have to. And it's hard because we're human, so we let the noise distract us. But you ultimately, if you let it distract you too much, you kind of waver from where you're supposed to go.
And that, my friends, brings this episode to a close. Nice, short, punchy, like four glasses, four shot glasses. Bam, bam, bam. You're in the pocket. Thank you so much for being here. Again, we ask that on these shows you do the big, big favor. Here's a big ask. Share this show up with somebody else. Right? Go subscribe to our channels, make comments, review the show. The more couples that we can get empowered with this, and we're watching this happen as there are so many couples now coming to this place of power. Together, we can refute the dialogue that's happening in society right now. With couples falling apart, marriage is sitting on hollow, sexless, disconnected dysfunction. And put ourselves back in power the way God built it to be. And we're doing our part here at the Datechy Podcast. Our ask is that you help us in that by sharing the show up with somebody else on top of this. Also, we'd love to give you free access to Warrior Book. This is the backbone of the curriculum for men here at Wake Up Warrior. You can check out and get a free copy today by going to warriorbook.com and for my wife and I and our small dog, who I have to compete with in bed at times and put her on the shelf, we are closing up the show with another episode of the Date Wife podcast.
